Bellamy Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 This pic is from "For Keeps". We knew that long time ago. But I think it shouldn't be our concern. I find it's ironic when some fans think Celine tells about RC too much, while some complaining about how she teaches RC. Mozinha Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 It's rude to come to the internet to judge how someone is raising their children, no matter if they are famous or not. It's just rude. But even so I'll answer.I'm taking a major on education and elementary school teaching and I can ASSURE you there is nothing wrong about a boy playing with a doll. I've been doing internships and volunteer work in kindergarttens and day cares and this is normal behaviour. Kids do whatever they see grown ups doing. It's gone the time people would just say: dolls for girls and cars for boys. This is an old conception that doesn't make any sense anymore. Toys are made for everyone. And we all know Celine is not raising her son has a girl. We all know he is obsessed with cars and Nascar and does sports like golf and hockey. We've seen the clothes he wears. So this is just non sense. It is OK for boys to hold a doll and give it a bottle, ok? That is just a doll. What's with the pink too? Boys can't have a pink toy? Why? Can someone explain me why? This is the 21st century and you are stuck in the past. Get over it! It is OK for boys to hold a doll and give it a bottle, ok?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Although I'm a guy, I have to strongly agree with Mozinha, as I too am majoring in Elem. education. I've learned in my classes that boys playing with dolls or engaging in any kind of countertradional role playing does not influence what they become in the future. Neither does dressing in clothing of the opposite sex during free play time. On a personal note, I would probaby tell my son to take of the woman's clothes if I were to see that, and explain that women wear dresses etc. If my son were playing with a doll, I would not take the doll away, but instead I would also introduce to him toys that relate to more traditional male roles such as a tool set, cars, GI Joes etc. so that the child can see both sides, and not think that playing with something is "wrong." I wouldn't be one of the fathers that freaked out if I saw my son playing with a doll, but I would use that opportunity to introduce other kinds of toys, but not impose them on the child. I don't see anything wrong with children playing with toys that girls would normally play with, the research shows no link between the types of play and what children grow up to become. Conversely, if my son were only playing with trucks and GI Joes etc. I would introduce other toys to the child such as a kitchen set or a baby, to explain that guys also cook and do things in the kitchen, and they also take care of and feed babies. These days the tradional roles of men and women are changing, thus "stay at home dads." I think that children should learn that there isn't such a thing as what only girls can do and what only boys can do. There is a great book I read to a first grade class, showing male nurses and female construction workers, as well as male flight attendents and female astronauts and firefighters. Some of the children were surprised by that, but they should learn from an early age that men and women both can do the same kinds of things, and there's nothing wrong with that. It seems like some people on this board should read that book too!! LOL BTW, if that picture were of a girl playing with a truck, I don't think there would even have been a post started on it. Please don't jump down my throat, as I know the opinions I've expressed are probably not held by the majority of people reading this. Edited January 16, 2006 by karatedude317 Quote

Clari Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 (edited) I agree with Monica. Kids are kids... they'll play with anything and EVERYTHING. It is possible Celine was at a friend's house who happens to have girls and he wanted to play with the doll. When I was little my friends that were boys sometimes would play with my Barbies... so what, it didn't make them any different now that they are in their mid-20s. When I was little I liked remote controlled cars (even though I have no facination what- so-ever for any kind of car now ) and marbles, even if they were for boys, they were fun for me. It's just a TOY. Edited January 16, 2006 by CelineSmiles Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/CelineSmiles/hamster.gif CLARiSSA Xxx... "Music touches every sense.
