Lawna was right. I was just differentiating between the two but reincarnation is not a christian belief. People are free to believe whatever they want but Christianity (and Catholicism in particular) is not a pick'n'mix religion. I'm sure whatever God (or Gods) are up there (or down there) are eternally forgiving but what seems to be happening is that religion is becoming diluted as people pick and choose their beliefs to suit themselves.

Yes, like babymonkey said, people choose the religion that suits them better or mix things from different religions and create some sort of belief on their own.

 

 

Religion can mess up a lot of things and sometimes it can finish people's faith. I'm catholic but it doesn't mean I accept or agree with everything in my religion mainly because they impose us laws created by man and not God. The most important thing for me is believing in my religion's principles and values, not laws and rules imposed on us.

People seem to want to pigeonhole their beliefs when in reality most people are not what they say they are.... as a catholic you would be expected to follow the teachings of the church, the teaching of the pope and the rules and boundaries that are drawn up. If you do not accept these rules you would not be considered a catholic by the leaders of the faith but as either a protestant or someone who has lost their faith.

 

People are entitled to believe whatever they want but the should be individual enough not to have to define themselves by a religious group

Everything starts with reason. So there's oughta be something why we are here, on this earth. Not to mention all those systems in our body. Some systems that we coudn't control. I've learned about it in biology and chemistry. It's really amazing. And what about the universe? Many people said that the universe has no border. It's endless? But I don't think like that. The Buddha said that everything has border. And like the quote in The Matrix:Revolutions : "Everything that has a beginning, has an end" , that's the Buddha's word too. So sooner or later we'll have to die.

So you must believe in the buddah? I am glad that you believe in him. I still think that the religion you choose is the one you believe to be true. I never shove my religion down anybody's throat.
