My left eye is -4.5 and my right eye -4.75. I only wear glasses when I'm alone because they are so thick they look like the bottom of the old glass coke bottles. I think that is the reason they don't want to do the surgery, my eyes are too bad. I had the same problem with dry lenses, and I went trough lots of trials with different brands etc., untill we found the one that felt the most comfortable for me. The ones that I use now are designed for dry eyes. I also use drops, so they don't bother me at all. The only thing that can be a bit annoying sometimes is an AC. You should ask one of your friends or somebody to keep you company on facebook or whatever while you are waiting. I usually do that, helps taking your mind off the whole thing.
