Belle Céline Posted February 7, 2011 at 02:57 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 02:57 PM bowling tonight. I'm looking forward to the break because I'm gonna have to spend a lot of today studying and reading. I'm setting a goal of finishing my study guide and reading at least 3 chapters or I'm not going bowling. “There’s nothing I love more than the romance of a night in the theater.”http://i39.tinypic.com/ws0due.png
Claudette Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:04 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:04 PM (edited) Finally figured out how to book appointments. Can I just say again that the US embassy's website is not user friendly at all. You have to smell what to do and where to do it. Happy birthday John! Bellamy Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:13 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:13 PM Can't believe you didn't have your VISA yet. Why not apply VISA before book everything? Will they approve VISA 99% at least there? Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
Cheerfuljane Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:27 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:27 PM That concerns me too Claudette. Last time I got a visa from Durban, I had to book the interview 6 weeks ahead at least. I know you're in Joburg, but still.
Claudette Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:43 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:43 PM (edited) You have to go for an interview and then they give you your visa. Apparantly you can make an appointment two days ahead. I got mine for Thursday, but they had openings for Wednesday too. It only takes a few days to get your passport with visa back as they send it with DHL. As long as you have proof of everything and all the necessary documents, you shouldn't have a problem. They also say you must just be very clear on what you are gonna do in the US. They do say that you have to get a visa before you book everything, but in the next breath they tell you that you have to bring proof of plane tickets and where you are gonna stay. So that is one of the reasons I was so pissed this weekend. I couldn't make an appointment. without an address of a hotel where we are gonna stay. This weekend I've cried, screamed and said words that I didn't even know was in my vocabulary. I'm just happy that I at least got an appointment. Krys Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:44 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 03:44 PM Yea, it is worrying! We get our visas 1-2 months in advance just in case
Bellamy Posted February 7, 2011 at 04:08 PM Posted February 7, 2011 at 04:08 PM They do say that you have to get a visa before you book everything, but in the next breath they tell you that you have to bring proof of plane tickets and where you are gonna stay. This weekend I've cried, screamed and said words that I didn't even know was in my vocabulary.
