Hi Guys, I Found This Site 2day... And I'm Still Wondering Who's The Biggest Selling Female Artist.

 

 

Celine? Mariah? Madonna? Whitney or even Nana Mouskouri?

Céline has been named officially at WMA in September 2004 "World's Best Selling Femal Artist Of All Times", with 175,000,000 albums sold. No other female artist achieved this rank this year. Officially Céline is still the "World's Best Selling Femal Artist Of All Times". Dot. Point. Amen!

obviously u think wrong...we r not talking about the u.s. , we r talking about worldwide sales - barbara is not even in the top 5 : celine , mariah , whitney , madonna - they all sold much more than her .

Céline has sold 184 million albums and 28 million singles (but about the singles no-one is sure) a total of 212 million.

 

Mariah has sold 183 million albums and 47 million singles a total of 230 million.

 

Madonna has sold 120 million albums (as the guinness book of world records says...) until november 2002. But Warner Music claims she had sold 175 million albums until 2004 and 75 million singles, a total of 250 million.

 

Other artists are mentioned also, like Nana Mouskouri and Alana Pugacheva..

 

That makes Madonna first, and Céline 'just' third...

But, as is mentioned before, Céline has sold more singles than we know, 'cause no-one is sure about the sales of singles in other French-speaking countries...

 

In fact, it's impossible to call one singer the best selling artist, 'cause Record Companies make the sales sometimes higher to pretend how good their artist is...

Here there's a discography, with al the sales... I don't know if it is correct, but as you see, Céline is not the only one who sells less the last years

It's not true... Celine has a lot of more ALBUMS sold out than MC... That's for sure... MC has around 165 milion albuns rught now, and Cline something about 180 milion. The fact is that Celine is THE BEST FEMALE SELLER ALBUMS EVER, but it's just albuns. That's the difference... Nobody knows who is THE BEST FEMALE SELLER RECORDS (what inclue albums + singles). Maybe Mariah. Maybe Madonna... But I guess it's Madonna.

Adn what??? The last big hit of MC (before TEOM) was Rainbow from 1998. And just now, 7 years later, she has a big hit... By the way, "The emancipation..." has 5.300.000 copies around the world. And she really needs a lot more of that to overtake Celine.

i think we should not worry about mariah or anyone else for that matter selling more ALBUMS than celine . yes - sony r not doing anything and if the case was diffrent celine would probably sell much more than she is selling right now yet she is releasing 2 albums a year!! she sings in french and in english and unlike mariah she is doing everything by herself cause she still has a voice...mariah cant sing anymore , that's why she needs all the rappers - that's the only way she can sell . she is doing background vocals to the rappers in her new album . it's so sad to hear what happened to her voice

Mmm, these kind of topics always turn into "who we feel is best" rather than "who has actually sold the most". This needs to be done in an objectional way, which is virtually impossible. Each record company does things in a way that supports their artist - including Celine's company. And unless an independant body is able to check each and every retailer around the world then we will never know for sure. Suffice it to say that there are several very talented, ambitious and determined women who have sold an amazing amount of albums around the world, Celine is most definately one of them! It really isn't important who is at the top, as each have unrivelled acheivements in different areas, they are all unique, and though they may be compared quite frequently, they should be merited for their individual acheivements rather than against each other. IMHO.

 

(Celine is definately the loveliest! )

Céline is the female singer with most platinum albuns in europe. Madonna comes next. But Céline has more than the double.

That's incorrect. Mariah's new album is selling like hotcakes in the USA. Around the rest of world it is not doing that well.

this is not from wikipedia. it's from the official press release of WMA actually. cause they only count the sales after Celine join SONY MUSIC. if they count that period. I think they need to add around 8-10 million at least. Celine was quite successful in Quebec and France at that time, had many platium, gold records.

Even Sony said that it's almost impossible anyone to overtake this record nowadays... and I think the same... Now, albuns doesn't sell as before... doesn't even comes close... So, Celine will continue being THE BEST SELLER EVER!
