All in all, I'm quite sad and dissatisfied... Celine is such a singer that can record a duet with anyone she wants but why she always chooses old, unfashionable people.. She may as well do such duets being in her seventies but now? I always like her having new songs and I have always respected those songs with older dudes but nowadays I feel like having enough of these songs.

Well this is the woman who has also sung with two guys who were already dead for years by then!

 

But yeah Charles Aznavour, Tony Bennet, Zachary Richard and now Michel Sardou, there's a definite pattern emerging here guys and it worries me. Okay they may well record a beautifull song, but is it going to raise her profile with today's music audience? (You don't need to answer that)

 

Commercially this is not going to get her noticed. Celine's best chance of getting back into the charts is a duet with a current act and not a ballad, but something with an edge to it, so that people sit up and pay attention, why do Sony not act on that.

 

Maybe that Justin Bieber duet is a good idea after all? (joke)

MIchel Sardou is normally someone who goes for quality. And for him to record a duet with Celine means that we should have our hopes high that it could be a good song.

Yeah! Someone like David Guetta could kick start a new phase in her career, but the chances of that type of record coming out is highly unlikely now, maybe during the TC days, but with this new Vegas show being more orchestra based they're clearly not interested in mixing things up for Celine unfortunatley.

So I think the Buble suggestion is about the best we could hope for. I really like Buble's style and I would love to hear her sing with him or do a proper duet finally with Josh Groban, but even these two are not enough to get her back to the top of the charts, which while it's not the bee all and end all anymore, would still be nice to see.

I was on the verge of posting the same comment... Okay... another mature man for a duet with Céline... :ermm: What's happening again? Isn't anybody young in the music industry asking a duet with Céline today?? Or at least someone of similar age with Céline!

 

This man is 63. How long has been since the last collaboration of Céline with a young international artist?? Ermmm Anastacia in Divas Las Vegas (and it wasn't even a studio recording)??

 

I don't know what are the intentions of Céline and René, but again, bad move if they want to please radios and fans!

And I hate the fact that David Guetta is so hot theses days. We had 10 years of eurodance in the 90's in europe, and now that it finally gets exported to the US, it has to become trendy and get back to europe.

I'm sorry, but Eurodance should have died with the 90's. Okay I admit, one song in a while is okay and fun to dance to, but all those tracks now is way too much to bear!

 

As for celine doing a duet with Sardou, we all know she's a gerontophiliac, so it shouldn't shock us. The guy used to have a great voice, he can't sing anymore though. The only good thing is that he focused on good lyrics. Too bad he's considered as an has been more than a legend.

I think that René is like a bandage for Céline. He prevents her from seeing what's going on in the music today. Not that she has to do rap or sing like a robot, but come on... another duet with an old guy?

 

Also, I feel that all these old fashioned singers are taking advantage of Céline's position in many ways, to relaunch her career. But Céline isn't doing the same with young artists :doh: And René doesn't help with this
