Lawna Posted February 18, 2005 at 05:56 AM Posted February 18, 2005 at 05:56 AM (edited) Alanis becomes U.S. citizen (MSN) I just read about Alanis becoming a U.S. citizen and I was wondering if Celine was?? I know R.C. is because he was born in Florida, but has Celine taken the oath for citizenship in the U.S.?? As far as I know she is not a U.S. citizen, but I would think it would be cool if she took on dual citizenship like Alanis because Celine's home is in the Heart of Quebec in Canada, but Celine also has a home away from home here in the U.S. and she has so many ppl who love her in the U.S. Edited February 18, 2005 at 05:59 AM by Lawna Quote They go crazy for you because they know you're true. --Celine Dionhttp://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz226/Congenialdiva/myspacelink.jpgFollow Me on Twitter!Visit Me on Facebook!
Celine's Wife Posted February 18, 2005 at 06:10 AM Posted February 18, 2005 at 06:10 AM *shrugs* I mean probably.... afterall.... how could she have a drivers license here if she didn't? Of course it's very posible she doesn't have one at all... I would have thought we'd have heard about that somewhere, I imagine Rene does for sure though Quote Beautiful Sin - My Elizabeth Perkins Website! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/cathydion2/cdfsig.jpg We might kiss when we are alone... Salla Posted February 21, 2005 at 07:13 AM Posted February 21, 2005 at 07:13 AM In Finland you can have like a double citizenship..of course depending on the other country's laws and stuff. But if you are American and you live in Finland and want to become a citizen here, you don't have to give up your American citizenship in order to get the Finnish one, so you have a double citizenship. keny Posted April 24, 2007 at 09:53 PM Posted April 24, 2007 at 09:53 PM I was thinking about the citizenship thing today. Anyone know if things have changed since this thread appeared back in 2005? Celine and Rene owe there existence to the US. Without the US and English, she would just be another singer the world never new. A dual citizenship would be appropriate though. i'm sure there are many exceptions when you are famous like celine <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know there are special citizenship exceptions for the famous, I just can't recall exactly what those exceptions are. stevethefan Posted April 25, 2007 at 01:09 AM Posted April 25, 2007 at 01:09 AM I don't think Celine is a US citizen. She probably does not need to be one although I would think that RChas duel citizenship, since he was born in the US and I would think they would want him to also be a Canadian. The best for all would be dual citizenship. Quote
Cambroneroj Posted April 25, 2007 at 01:34 AM Posted April 25, 2007 at 01:34 AM Just like me she might have a green card (its actually pink) they usually expired every 10 years so if she does have one she might be becoming a US citizen soon, also like me she can have dual citizenship. Its not a bad thing to just have a green card , i go and come back as many times as i want as long i dont stay out of the U.S for more then 6 months otherwise i loose it. Or maybe she might have a working visa for entertaiment, most celebrities have that instead of a green card. With that visa you can work and live in the U.S for as long as the visa was given for, before my greencard i had a tourist visa for life but i became a resident so that went away. Quote
celinerific Posted April 25, 2007 at 01:52 AM Posted April 25, 2007 at 01:52 AM (edited) I don't think so... Celine stresses about it so much that she will never reclaim her roots. She is and always will be a Canadian citizen. She probably has some kind of temporary thing, but I'm sure she's not a permanent U.S. resident... that's just turning her back on everthing she's ever said. And that's just not her kind of person. (If only it were that easy to become a citizen.) People can apply to be a "permanent resident" after 10 years you can apply for citizenship easily. My mom so far hasn't applied mostly because now becoming a citizen cost over $300 just to fill out the application. :/ Edited April 29, 2007 at 04:18 AM by Clari Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/CelineSmiles/hamster.gif CLARiSSA Xxx...
