 It was the perfect match remember that on the millennium concert (la derniere) Celine said that the Clinton's were watching the concert and Celine said "Good evening Canada, Good evening America, Mr. President Misses Clinton, I know that you're watching, I know that you're watching us right now, and I would like to wish you and everyone in Washington a Very Very Happy New Year" right before She started singing Destin and they also appeared on another one of the specials with a message....

But don't you think it could work bad for policies on Air Canada...you know...being You And I the them song for the campaign

Anyway GO! CELINE!

This kind of stinks for me...

I'm a college student, and it's hard enough convincing all my friends to listen to Celine, but now that she will be "the voice" of Hillary, they will think that's repulsive. No college students I know want to vote for Hillary....

...also, this song is very "blahhh". I mean, it's nice as an album cut--but nothing special about it. So I don't know how this will help Celine.

But, regarldess, I'm happy she was voted for the most.

Wow! And you know she's going to ask Celine to perform it sometimes at one of the big events. I'm shocked this song won! I guess this is the song she'll play from now on when she's introduced to a crowd?

The sad part is that it probably means Celine will endorse Hillary for President

But I had a good laugh at the Soprano series finale spoof with Hillary and Bill :mdr:

I am really surprised "You and I" won. Maybe it was just a Hillary favorite to begin with. But it's some great exposure for Céline.

YOU AND I is one of worst songs celine ever recorded - there is nothing good to say about this song .

it has nothing to do with politics , it's just a bad song and now celine is going to sing it live probably here and there and people will again see the trashy side of her career and not the top quality side that we , as fans , want the world to see so much :shifty:

it's bad bad bad - bad vocals , bad arrangments , bad production . i'm shocked they even included this song in the poll - from all her songs this one!!!!!

Speak for yourself Shai! I don't particularly like the son either but I know some fans who actually do like it.

Wow! I could not believe it when I found out Celine's song had won. I think it's a good choice for H. Clinton.

It will be interesting how Celine reacts to the news. She has to be excited about. She will probably be on tour overseas when the November 2008 elections come around. :kicking:

Way to go Celine! I'm so proud!

As for the haters...LOL...at least we can be happy that "Love Is All We Need" wasn't picked. Now THAT would have been ironical. Okay, maybe not ironical, but I just HAD to type that word. LOL

CLINTON, SOPRANO, & CELINE DION?

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro

David Chase, eat your heart out? To unveil her new campaign song, Clinton replicates the final scene of the Sopranos complete with a cut to black just before choosing the song in a jukebox.

We know the suspense is killing you. For the next year and a half, the song we'll all identify with the Clinton campaign is apparently... "You and I" by Celine Dion. More than 200,000 voted for their choice in Clinton's online pick-her-song contest.

In the video, Journey plays on a jukebox, as Clinton sits in an empty diner booth scrolling through potential campaign songs. In walks husband Bill -- greeted at the table by a bowl of carrot sticks. "No onion rings?" he asks his wife, disappointedly. Daughter Chelsea struggles to parallel park.

And at the diner bar sits a bona fide whacked Sopranos character -- the former Brooklyn boss before Phil Leotardo it turns out.

So how do we read into this video? Is this a peak into Clinton's state-of-mind? Is she paranoid about getting whacked by a "vast right-wing conspiracy?"

And yes, we fully expect jokes about Clinton outsourcing her song -- to a French Canadian no less.

Clintons Appear In 'Sopranos' Spoof

WASHINGTON -- The scene: A diner and a jukebox. A nostalgic song. A long fade to black. It worked as a finale for "The Sopranos." It now marks a new beginning for "The Clintons."

Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign on Tuesday unveiled its new campaign song with a Web video that spoofs the final scene of the popular HBO mobster series.

The video and the announcement of Celine Dion's "You and I" as the official Clinton tune cap a monthlong, interactive Internet campaign that drew more than a million viewers to the Clinton campaign Web site and to YouTube, the popular online video display room.

It also illustrates the growing reliance by some of the more technologically savvy campaigns to connect with voters and potential donors in a clever, relatively inexpensive format that is infused with pop culture references, contemporary themes or intimate moments.

Just this week, the campaign of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican, posted a video featuring Romney's wife, Ann, narrating scenes of Christmas vacation last year when the family reached the decision to pursue the White House.

In the new Clinton clip, Hillary Clinton, like Tony Soprano, spins through the musical selections in a diner in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., near her home in Chappaqua, as her husband, former President Clinton, quizzes her about the campaign and the song contest winner.

The Soprano touches are subtle but perfectly obvious to any fan of the series.

The music that plays through the video is not Dion's but Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," the same song that Tony Soprano chooses from the jukebox in the show's final scene. At one point, actor Vince Curatola, who played New York mob boss Johnny "Sack" Sacramoni in the series, walks menacingly by the Clintons' table.

Tony Soprano ordered onion rings. Hillary orders carrots for Bill. "No onion rings?" the former president asks forlornly.

"Where's Chelsea?" Sen. Clinton asks. Outside a car tire hits the curb. "Parallel parking," President Clinton replies.

"How's the campaign going?" he asks.

"Well, like you always say, focus on the good times."

"So what's the winning song," he presses.

"You'll see."

"My money is on Smash Mouth," he says. "Everybody in America wants to know how it's going to end."

"Ready?" Hillary asks.

The scene fades to black.

But, no, unlike the Sopranos, it's not over. You can click to hear Dion's song. A new page pops up. The most prominent word stands out against a red background:

"Contribute."

Hillary Announces Official Campaign Song -- With 'Sopranos' Spoof

By E&P Staff

NEW YORK On the one hand, the winning campaign song is by Celine Dion. On the other: Sen. Hillary Clinton did announce the winner in a clever spoof on the recent 'Sopranos' finale. It's sure to be a hot topic on Web sites today and in print tomorrow.

Clinton had thrown the voting open to fans of her race for president, who could make a pick online from a short list, featuring artists from Shania Twain to The Temptations. The video, posted on her site today, shows her waiting in a diner, looking at a jukebox, as a certain Journey song plays faintly in the background. A mystery man enters and approaches the table (not wearing Members Only) -- no, it's not Dick Morris. Turns out to be her husband.

Bill sits down and she asks him where's Chelsea. He replies that she is parking the car, as we see her having trouble doing it. Hillary says she has ordered for the table, as carrot sticks. Bill wonders why she didn't order onion rings.

Hillary continues to look at the jukebox as Bill says he wants the Smash Mouth song to win the contest. A menacing figure gets off a stool and walks past them to the bathroom -- it's "Johnny Sack" from 'The Sopranos."

As Hillary is about to play the winning number, the screen, of course, goes blank....and you have to click on another button to discover that the winner is...Celine Dion's "You and I."

Presumably no one got shot, except on film. It's not known if Dion (who is Canadian) backs Clinton.

It's at www.hillaryclinton.com.

Clinton's Sopranos Redux

The Clinton campaign has just released the results of its Campaign Song Contest. But it's the companion video people will be talking about.

The winning song: "You And I" by Celine Dion.

As we've reported before, the Clinton campaign's YouTube strategy took off with this song contest. She's been praised for her candor throughout this contest, allowing supporters to pick from a list of songs, by artists like The Temptations, Shania Twain, and KT Tunstall. (One supporter even recommended she rewrite the lyrics to the theme from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.")

As part of the big announcement, the Clinton campaign released a video starring Mrs. -- and Mr. -- Clinton. It starts with the senator walking into the Mt. Kisco Coach Diner (in Westchester County, N.Y.), taking a seat, and ordering a bowl of carrots. Bill then walks into the diner, dressed in a short-sleeved casual shirt. He sits down, complains about the carrots, and then eats them, relunctantly, while the senator puruses the diner's jukebox options.

Bill then asks Hillary, "Does anything look good?" while she checks out the jukebox tunes, and the camera pans over to songs titles considered by campaign supporters: "Are You Gonna Go My Way," by Lenny Kravitz, "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now," by McFadden & Whitehead, "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic," by The Police, and "The Best," by Tina Turner, among others. Bill says he thinks Smashmouth will win. Hillary replies, "We'll see," before the video cuts to black.

Does this diner premise with the pre-ordered appetizer sound familar? It should. It's almost exactly like the last scene of the "Sopranos" finale, complete with "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey playing in the background, daughter Chelsea struggling to parallel park right outside, and a cameo by Vince Curatola, who played "Johnny Sack" on the HBO show. He came in to shoot the video, made by media consultant Mandy Grunwald, campaign officials said.

You can watch the video on Clinton's campaign Web site.

What do you think? Did she pick the right song? And what about the video? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

I am happy as this will bring Céline back into spotlight again. This song is already big at YouTube, ppl are asking for it and the fact that it's not all that high quality doesn't mean it's bad for Céline. It is her who recorded it to promote Air Canada and this song gets its second life for Hillary.

And I wouldn't be surprised if Céline showed her full support for Hillary. She ain't hiding her liberal views. She supported Bill Clinton and she will support Hillary even indirectly through this song. She will surely not refuse to give away the rights for a proper price of course. :P

But I'm really happy, this only means something good for the promo! Happy careless song nobody cared about will get its second chance to take off!

funny thing is i love "you and i" and "love is all we need" and "i knew i loved you" anyway i have 1 friend who hates celine and likes "you and i" and another who couldn't care less and loves "love is all we need". "you and i" is light generic catchy song which suits perfectly an add and the fact that the elections are in autumn make this chance for promo even better!! btw my landlord lived in USA till 2003 and he's pretty sure that Hillary will win the elections, dunno...i would vote for her, what do you think?

great news. it will be a huge year for celine with albums , touring, dvds , perfums.... and with this campaign... this song will be played for a year and a half till elections... great promotion

 I've never ever expected that Céline will make it!!

What is most impressive for me is that the American people chose Céline by themselves and I really hope that this decision will help Hillary. Wonder if Céline will help Hillary in person, for example to perform during a party congress if she becomes the Democratic candidate.

Man...this doesn't make me too happy...I'm not a huge fan of Hilary's, and now every time I hear this song, I'm going to think of Hilary...YUCK!! I hope that Celine doesn't endorse her and that she keeps herself out of American politics...I don't think that would be a good move...politics are so crazy!!!

I'm a twin mommy just like Celine!

I'm happy Celine won it. And personally I'm happy it's for the democrats LOL. I don't see a problem with Celine being associated with Hillary. Even if she gets more involved (which I doubt she will), she has the right to have an opinion and to share it with other people. We all do, don't we?

Especially when I would share the same opinion :giggle: Go Hillary! It's about time a woman ruled America... or any other state for that matter, but I doubt it would make a difference if she ruled Romania, we're not important

I'm glad this song won - but I don't think it's her strongest.

I remember seeing the running order a few weeks ago, and I thought there was no chance that You and I would win.

I'm also glad, and kind of surprised too that this song is not supporting the Republicans! I always wondered whether Celine had a connection with them, but then I remembered reading the Clintons were fans. Perhaps that swayed the votes a little?! :innocent:

Go Democrats!
