wjd Posted March 22, 2010 at 09:04 PM Posted March 22, 2010 at 09:04 PM Most recently, it happened with the thread about diva Dion's voice, but basically, why are the topics removed? I once started a thread about common misinterpretations of Celine Dion, and it was seemingly removed. I'm very curious to why this is - am I not allowed to say anything negative about Celine? This isn't a knock towards any moderators or whatever, I'd just like to evaluate the policy you have. Thanks, Wayne Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?
Bellamy Posted March 23, 2010 at 02:09 AM Posted March 23, 2010 at 02:09 AM You mean the "Best singers ever" list topic? Who cares about a random list from a random blog? I didn't even read the following replies before removing the topic. Random topics like that would be deleted or merged. I didn't even read the following replies before removing the topic. Random topics like that would be deleted or merged. And I quote... Behavior and Respect Toward Others- Do not post harrassing, insulting, belittling, threatening or flaming messages or topics towards anyone.- Keep the language clean, swearing is absolutely not allowed. Using symbols such as #, @ in place of letters are also prohibited. A Moderator or Administrator will censor any posts that fit such criteria with the reason attached to the message.- Also keep your profile and avatar and signature clean. We reserve the right to remove or modify them if deemed inappropriate but we will notify you before doing so.- In discussions, debate issues, do not get personal with members. Personal attacks toward others are forbidden.- Respect the privacy of other members, keep private conversations private, make use of the Private Message function or use other messenger services such as AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo if you insist on chatting one on one.- In the event that you receive disturbing private contacts via the forum, report incidents to the Administrators immediately. How can a forum expect its members to not belittle others when those in charge do exactly the opposite of what is expected of all? The above reply to the OP comes across as rude, belittling, and uninformative. I would expect better from those in charge of Celine Dion Forum. - SL4C Quote
Bellamy Posted March 31, 2010 at 11:29 AM Posted March 31, 2010 at 11:29 AM Belittling? I don't think I did. I don't even understand why do you quote that rule as if I did something wrong. I was just stating a fact. That topic WAS about a random list from a random blog. Can you prove it was not? Just because a random list from a random blog didn't include Celine in the list, you want a whole new topic about it and make all Celine fans get angry and keep complaining about it? Or maybe you just enjoy the Celine Discussions section filled by topics about random thoughts from random blogs? Belle Céline Posted March 31, 2010 at 07:40 PM Posted March 31, 2010 at 07:40 PM (edited) wjd I'm sure I've had a topic of mine moved or deleted before and I was fine with it. It's in the rules, I do believe that they can change or delete a topic if they so chose. Davey84 Posted March 31, 2010 at 08:38 PM Posted March 31, 2010 at 08:38 PM Sometimes things get lost in translation and cultural differences... so let's get back to the point Sometimes I think that too many topics are merged into the general discussion thread... topics are burried there and no one can ever find it, nor comment on it. When a topic is not interesting on it's own, then it will 'fall' back to the other pages and no one will read about it again, unless someone searches for it. You can't make a 'random blog' topic and put everything in there IMO. If it's about giving free space to the forum, i think there are better places for doing that, like the endless spamming the fun and games section, like deleting the first 200 pages of the what Céline song are u listening or the Celine song alphabet I am sorry to hear you are tired of being an admin, Bellamy, you're doing a great job... but my guess is that there are also other mods who control the CD section and they can act too if a topic should be merged, deleted etc just my two cents Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Tyler1991 Posted April 2, 2010 at 03:43 PM Posted April 2, 2010 at 03:43 PM Lol, Bellamy! I understand what you mean now in your reply to my "rude" post in that pointless topic. I was a bit confused at first, but it seems you had prior (and very recent) experience with the same thing! lol Quote
celinedream Posted April 3, 2010 at 05:02 AM Posted April 3, 2010 at 05:02 AM (edited) so to answer Wayne's original question there's not a defined policy by itself...it's entirely subjective to the admins and moderator's criteria wheteher a topic deserves to be merged or deleted. The idea is to keep the forum organized. That being said , I think both admins do a great job in cleaning the forum of pointless topics. volleyceline Posted April 27, 2011 at 05:09 AM Posted April 27, 2011 at 05:09 AM I don't see the problem that 'wjd' had, the administrators close and merge topics to simply keep the forum manageable and under control, I understand these rules. If you don't like that they close random topics that are completely irrelevant to Celine, on the Celine Dion Forum, then you should be apart of a "Random Topics Forum" instead. On the other hand, admins should try not to hurt Celine fan's feelings! Sorry that this is so late after this topic was started, but just wanted to input my opinion.
