Policy On Topic Removals

Most recently, it happened with the thread about diva Dion's voice, but basically, why are the topics removed?

 

I once started a thread about common misinterpretations of Celine Dion, and it was seemingly removed.

 

I'm very curious to why this is - am I not allowed to say anything negative about Celine?

 

This isn't a knock towards any moderators or whatever, I'd just like to evaluate the policy you have.

You mean the "Best singers ever" list topic? Who cares about a random list from a random blog? I didn't even read the following replies before removing the topic. Random topics like that would be deleted or merged.

How can a forum expect its members to not belittle others when those in charge do exactly the opposite of what is expected of all? The above reply to the OP comes across as rude, belittling, and uninformative. I would expect better from those in charge of Celine Dion Forum.

Belittling? I don't think I did. I don't even understand why do you quote that rule as if I did something wrong. I was just stating a fact. That topic WAS about a random list from a random blog. Can you prove it was not? Just because a random list from a random blog didn't include Celine in the list, you want a whole new topic about it and make all Celine fans get angry and keep complaining about it? Or maybe you just enjoy the Celine Discussions section filled by topics about random thoughts from random blogs?

I'm extremely disappointed to read this from you, Vic. I thought you know me much better than that. And I think you also know why would he make that point although that topic has nothing to do with him. I'm so tired of being an admin and have no freedom of speech.

Sometimes things get lost in translation and cultural differences... so let's get back to the point

 

 

Sometimes I think that too many topics are merged into the general discussion thread... topics are burried there and no one can ever find it, nor comment on it. When a topic is not interesting on it's own, then it will 'fall' back to the other pages and no one will read about it again, unless someone searches for it. You can't make a 'random blog' topic and put everything in there IMO. If it's about giving free space to the forum, i think there are better places for doing that, like the endless spamming the fun and games section, like deleting the first 200 pages of the what Céline song are u listening or the Celine song alphabet

 

I am sorry to hear you are tired of being an admin, Bellamy, you're doing a great job... but my guess is that there are also other mods who control the CD section and they can act too if a topic should be merged, deleted etc

I think you could've worded it differently to be more polite. That was a legitimate question and it deserves a better and more informative response. I'm all about making members feel welcome here. As an admin, we should set examples for others to follow.

Lol, Bellamy! I understand what you mean now in your reply to my "rude" post in that pointless topic. I was a bit confused at first, but it seems you had prior (and very recent) experience with the same thing! lol

so to answer Wayne's original question there's not a defined policy by itself...it's entirely subjective to the admins and moderator's criteria wheteher a topic deserves to be merged or deleted.

 

The idea is to keep the forum organized.

 

That being said , I think both admins do a great job in cleaning the forum of pointless topics.

I don't see the problem that 'wjd' had, the administrators close and merge topics to simply keep the forum manageable and under control, I understand these rules.

If you don't like that they close random topics that are completely irrelevant to Celine, on the Celine Dion Forum, then you should be apart of a "Random Topics Forum" instead.

 

On the other hand, admins should try not to hurt Celine fan's feelings!
