It's the closest classic Celine sound we've had in years. Since Ashes and The Hard Way.

I think she sounds divine on Love of My Life. A similar tone, at times, to her cover of Wicked Game.
When I said ''Love Again'' I referred to the soundtrack. I agree that LOML sounds very good. But WOY and TG could have been approached very differently.

I’m not into courage album, cause I think the songs don’t flow well, it’s a long record…
But I like it in general
I’d only change the order and remove some from the standard edition to the deluxe and the opposite

With the sound track the new songs OMG,  they flow each one after other one

The movie it wasn’t a worldwide release, many people don’t know about it

Maybe they can  re-edited the album with the best 12 tracks from the album and sound track

Can you imagine
Courage- best tracks 🤪

I don't listen to her new stuff because of the poor enunciating and mumbled crap. I liked her for her crystal clear voice. Every English album after Taking Chances has been torture to my ears.

Same reason I stopped listening to Mariah after every song became a whisper. Sing properly please.

It's not even about the range. I listen to Taylor Swift 24/7….it's not mumbled crap trying to sound like Sia who is crap.
Sad but true. I agree with you. I very rarely listen to her post 2002/2003 material.

With Vegas and all the « best of » tours, they were lazy but the money was there. Tickets were sold out without much effort but they were forgetting us. Now that she cant be on stage, it feels like the general public is gone to other artists and only the hardcore fans are still there.

Its sad but now i wish Sony will take care of us more!

I totally agree with you. I hope that they will appreciate us more now. Now is a good time to release some good stuff from the vault specifically for the fans. I hope they finally realise that they need to keep us around somehow.

I question if we will get anything else at all. Don’t want to sound doom and doom but is this it now?

Have thought the same myself Kev. Sales of this project won’t exactly encourage Sony to throw open the vaults for further releases.

Ι do not think we have reached a point where Sony will stop releasing Celine albums because they do not sell. Remember the numbers Sans Attendre and Encore Un Soir pulled.

If Celine gets better they will simply need to re-visit their approach to the production, vocals and marketing of her releases. IMO, her best bet would be to reconnect with the AC crowd.

Even if there was promotion why would the general public care? There is no IACBTMN, POL, ABM, MYWGO  etc.  thats the type of songs they want from her.  Releasing ok songs with vocals that sound almost like shakira, cher, and a raspy frog had a baby  isnt going to make the album fly off the shelves or streamed a lot.

If she ever will be able to record an album, my guess is that her illness (her story) will help sell the album at that time.
How stupid it may sound.

We seen what the death of René did, suddenly she became human for a lot of people and she was everywhere.

But I agree with most of you, go back to the old crystal clear vocals. The ballads, orchestra and all.

If she just did more concept albums her experimenting with her voice and music would be welcomed way better than just drop 6 different styles on 1 album. That's just a mess.

Another issue is that half of ''Love Again'' is a greatest hits album, so it makes sense her audience would not be interested in that.

I shared this sentiment a little bit back in the topic. That people weren’t going to buy the full album because they already have the classics on their respective albums and/or on greatest hits albums. Most will just purchase the 5 individual new songs.

maybe this will force her to write her own songs now to keep all the royalties for herself since she has to make money somehow

As some had said in here before, Celine never focus on singles sales and that might be a part of the problem here. In the streaming era, singles are the real deal. People hardly stop to hear a full album anymore, most of them hear loose songs on playlists.

One might defend that her audience prefer physical album, but the world has change. CD players are not a thing anymore, most things like vehicles and laptops doesn’t even have a CD player. You have to make an effort today to actually hear a physical album, it’s something only fans and collectors have it. More than that, most people don’t realize that a big part of albums sells we had back in the day came from impulse buying. You were that at the store shopping for other things and picked up a CD, just because. Digital sales are even more worthless. Who would buy a digital album (like on ITunes) if, for half of price, you can stream pretty much every music released in the world for a month?

Celine single’s performances has been dropping since I’m Your Angel, which is arguably her last big hit. That’s 1998. Since then she had one top 25 on billboard (ANDHC) and that’s it. That is almost 25 years. Might had little better outcome outside US, but nothing to make justice to her greatness. (Talking about her anglophone career here). She focused on touring and it was a smart move, made her bigger than some others (like Mariah), but now the we are facing the possibility of her not come back to stage, it makes me wonder: what they’re going to do? (Her team, I mean).

And before someone says “I don’t care for numbers”, yes you do! It’s the good numbers that makes good money. It’s the money that makes possible for Celine to be the first choice of songwriters and not the one who receives their rejects. It’s the money that can buy the best producers, to make Celine sounds amazing, to hirer the best team, to pay for the best promotion, the great videos and so on.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Celine has relied on live performance for so long. And she’s had amazing success doing so.

She did reinvent herself as a fashion icon after Rene died. So she’s already demonstrated that she’s capable of surprising us with a plot twist.

I hope that she will always be able to record new music. And I hope she will be well enough to promote that new music to some degree — even if she’s not able to regularly perform anymore.

She’s a very famous figure / icon. And, if she’s well enough, she can just make the occasional big appearance to keep her star shining. At the Met Gala, at the Grammys, etc.

There are ways to strategically stay in the spotlight without having the exhausting schedule she’s been used to all her life.

I hope her treatments get her condition under control. That’s all that matters right now.

Then down the road, I hope the next big thing is the documentary gets released… accompanied by new music… perhaps even a rarities album.

People literally think she recently died.

No one buys albums anymore. I have not purchased a physical cd since 2005, except for Sans Attendre because it wasn’t streaming in the U.S and then Encore Un Soir. I guess technically I bought 2 copies of Courage, because of the concert tickets.

However, I listen to her old records constantly, but these songs just aren’t doing it for me. I’m at a point, where I’m happy that she records what works for her current voice or what she feels like singing I guess. Every artist has their glory days era and Celine had hers.

Also, she’s not promoting it whatsoever, besides some social media posts, so as to be expected.

Be happy you got 5 new songs while she’s battling being sick. Even though I’m not going to listen to them, I appreciate that she’s still releasing new music.

Celine did have TTWII at number 8 in between IYA and ANDHC.

THIS.
I don’t know where they got the idea she needed to be everything to everybody all the time. Sure, it’s okay to mix ballads and uptempo tunes, but there MUST be a level of consistency/coherency.

I think the Angélil-Dion approach for nearly the past two decades —at least for anglophone albums— has been to record bunches of songs at a time and then select a few for the tracklist. But if there are 30+ song writers and 10 different producers, it’s missing the heart and soul of the collaborative process. And that shows in both consistency and coherency.

Kylie Minogue got 1.8 million views with new her lead single in 5 days -- but that's with a music video. And Kylie's song is much more current/dance/club.

Celine Dion's lyric video for "Love Again" is sitting at 2.6 million -- honestly, I think that's pretty good. I would base her reach off of streams/views, not physical sales. Especially for a soundtrack that only is half new songs, half old.

I get what everyone is saying about crystal clear, vintage Celine vocals but maybe they're just not there anymore.  Ageing does effect the voice. However, I think the 5 we got are pretty good.

For My Love, I never understood why it was so popular.

Of course 1999 and 2008 were very different in terms of sales. Who needs a greatest hits album now that there are playlists on all streaming platforms or even on Youtube. Even more when they're getting updates when new material comes out and when barely anyone still uses a CD player.

I personally bought one copy of the album, only because I found it prior to the release date and couldn't wait to hear the songs, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Kinda like All The Way and My Love Essential Collections which both sold millions?
Exactly because these compilation albums sold millions the audience would not interested in another greatest hits type of album. Plus, these hits are available on streaming services, so why bother get the Soundtrack?

Evidence of what I am saying is how "My Love" has been re-entering charts the past decade unlike "All The Way", as it is considered the most thorough compilation.

Kylie has never been on Celine's league sales-wise. I do not understand where this comparison comes from.
