Irene said some weeks ago she hasn't talked to Céline since the premiere , so all this story is weird.

I'm not sure about that but the interview was done in LA a few days before December 17 so it's very recent.

I don’t like the bit of a show being “premature”… but I did say a couple months ago a friend of mine is Vegas said Celine was seen at the studio at the palms Las Vegas.

I think it's logical tho. We cannot expect Céline to be back right now on stage. We have to remember that the days we are seeing her are her "good days". At least we have news of her now. If we do get an album, I would be more than happy. Safe to say that if what Irene is saying is correct, the shows won't be before end of 2025.

I’m really surprised to hear Irene (friends or not) give so much scoop. Let’s hope for some new albums soon!

Yes but she stated the other way around end of September in a Q&A , so less than 3 months before.

I agree, she was clearly being untruthful… but we don’t know if it was then or now. More than likely she didn’t want to say they were close. She claimed in one interview online that she didn’t even know Celine was going to perform at the Olympics and that was after the Olympics.

I may be wrong but I got the sense that during the long promo run she was just focusing on the doc itself and sort of ignored any personal questions. Now that it's at its "end", maybe she felt more free to share things outside the doc itself.

I don't believe it. I don't care what source it is. Celine herself said that she will be back on stage and that it's just a matter of time. But what I do believe is that she is recording with JJG. It seems like she is now focusing more on recording in French. The reason might be that EUS did much better that Courage.

Or the reason is the French catalogue takes a less vocal acrobatic approach to the English work, therefore making it easier for her to sing.

I use Google translation and it's pretty good :D Journalist questions are in green.

What has changed in Celine Dion's life since the release of the documentary?

IRENE TAYLOR. First of all, she no longer needs to lie. That's why she's in better shape than she was a year ago. When she first saw the film, she cried a lot. I think she was trying to make up for it through the documentary because she had to
cancel shows by telling her audience that she was fine when she wasn't. She felt very guilty, but she's feeling better. The film helped her get over that feeling.

Video "Not singing anymore is unimaginable": with tears in her eyes, Celine Dion cancels her summer tour. Sharing such powerful and intimate moments must have brought you closer together...

I think I can say today that we are friends. We call each other regularly. She knows what's going on in my life and I know what's going on in hers. I just got married in private. There were only twelve people invited, my children, my parents and my brothers and sisters, but Celine insisted on being there in her own way. First, in the preparation phase of the ceremony, she had all sorts of crazy advice to give me. Since I was getting married in the desert, she suggested that we bring down a piano from the sky and land it on the sand. Only Celine Dion and her sense of stage design would think of something like that!

She then sent me a very nice gift: two apple trees to plant, in reference to the way she describes her role as a star to the fans who come to applaud her. She explains that she feels like an apple tree that gives the most beautiful apples to feed her fans who queue for hours and spend a lot of money to hear her sing. Her branches are starting to get weak, bend and produce less and less, and yet, there are still so many people who want to taste it.
Céline has this very powerful phrase: "I don't want them to queue if I don't have any more apples to give them." It's a very moving moment in the documentary. So this gift is very
symbolic.

You are in the middle of the Oscars campaign, you are showing your film to a maximum number of voters. Is Céline Dion accompanying you?

I know Céline would have loved it. I told her that it was not realistic for her to fly and go to these screenings. It’s too much stress on her body, you know. She still leaves her house very little, but she recorded a message for the viewers. “I would like to film her for the rest of her life, if she lets me.”

She has performed twice since the summer, in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) for her friend designer Eli Saab’s show and, of course, in Paris for the Olympics. Has she told you about those moments?

Of course. Singing in Paris has recharged her soul. Paris is one of the first destinations she discovered with René, at the very beginning of her career. There is in our documentary, an archival footage where she is in a car and sees the Eiffel Tower for the first time.
So, finding herself at the top, to sing again, was like a rebirth for Céline.

It was a happy event that touched her enormously. This moment brought her back exactly where she wanted to be. She has a special connection with France. French is her mother tongue. She wants and needs to return to her roots.

We hear about two albums in preparation for 2025. Can you confirm this?

Céline's voice has changed enormously and she wonders if her audience is ready to hear the new Céline. She is in the studio regularly, but I don't know what will come out of it. Céline can no longer push her voice without putting her life in danger, but paradoxically, it is singing that keeps her alive. She wants, and this is what I would also like, for there to be more French in her new repertoire, to return to her roots.

She and I love Acadian music from her province of Quebec. A lot of it doesn't require high, loud notes, which come from deep in the
chest. When Celine sings this style of music, it's absolutely magnificent. In French, some of her songs are almost country. The work she does with Jean-Jacques Goldman is simply incredible, you know.

Can you confirm that they work together?

Don't make me say what I didn't say. What happens in the studio is very secret.

Do you think we'll see her on stage again?

You know, Céline continues to progress every day, but holding a full concert seems premature to me. She dreams of it and I hope so, but she must first take care of herself. If she performs again, it probably won't be with the same repertoire. She admitted that she could no longer perform like she used to.

If she goes back on stage and she realizes she is not at her best, she is now ready to tell her audience, "I am happy to sing for you, but I can't hit all the notes today, so I will let you sing some parts." I am convinced that her audience loves her so much that after watching the documentary, they will be forgiving and willing to help her.

Do you think you will follow up the documentary and maybe film her comeback behind the scenes?

I love Celine in all her authenticity. As long as she remains authentic, I will follow her with my camera wherever she goes. I would like to film her for the rest of her life, if she lets me. Everything can have a sequel. I entered Celine's life directly through the front door.
Following the singer through the artists' entrance is another interesting perspective. As is staying inher privacy and exploring her relationship with her sons, for example, which has really strengthenedsince their father died.

René Charles (her eldest son) works alongside her. All of this is interesting to explore, but we haven't talked about it yet.

What I would like to know if Celine is no longer able to hit her notes and “push” herself. The. Why did she lip to the album tracks of TPOL and IA?  Why give herself and the audience false hope… she can’t lip forever. I still wonder if thr translation is a bit off.

What would the alternative be instead of lipping? If she can't sing, then the only alternative would be not do those performances...

Yes but that’s the best choice. If she can sing TPOL perfect because ores a “lip” track but struggles an easier song live people will have false hope and or know she’s lipping. She only gets away with it so much because people knew she was capable of it, now it would be misleading.

She lipped her big English hits in the past, but of course she can't do it forever. People are not stupid. A show with her French hits is more likely. We will see.

It just seems weird to me after Irene said did not even know was performing at the Olympics and did not want to bother her by contacting her after and now she is in so close contact. Also seems a lot of personal details about performing and in studio. When Celine herself has not posted anything about being in studio some parts of this felt like stuff she would not have shared. But posting this and it not being true would think could result in a lawsuit. Guess we will see what happens in 2025.

My guess is that they are still figuring out what works for her, and her voice and what isn't.

She might have her good days where she is able to sound like her old self, and other days where it's the complete opposite.
I think the 2 occasions where she performed weren't the right time and place to showcase her 'new' sound.

My guess is before that happens there will be a new load of interviews to prepare the audience for that.
Main focus this year was the docu and the slow return.

I do hope Sony will let Irene make a follow up. We need it!

I don’t think there is anything new or sad in this interview. For the millionthk time Celine has said in person she’s coming back on stage.  Irene cannot say “oh yes, she’ll be on stage in November 2025 tickets on sale in May.”  Clearly not legal to do that - so while she’s not singing and no “official “ announcement is made, saying  it’s “premature “ is actually the safest thing. Cause it is.

In terms of her voice changing , she hit some insane notes in Paris so for me no worry there.  And if she sings more in French - or acoustic bring it on.  Of course Irene knows more. It’s exciting to hear about her in recording studio!

Irene clearly has more insight than we do, but if we took her comments as gospel, we'd never expect Celine to give performances like she did in Paris and Riyahd -- which surpassed everyone's expectations, even Irene's according to other interviews she gave.

I love Celine's work with JJG...but Celine singing more Acadian/country stuff, please god no. She can sing less vocally demanding songs that still show off her incredible voice, in French and in English. Ideally, that would be with good pronunciation and no more of that bedroom voice with the vocal fry/rasp that she loves. It would be such a shame for her to "rehabilitate" her voice and still keep those habits that make her sound less than pleasing.

I don't know what to think aboutIrene's interview. The most important thing and something that directly compromises Céline and her last performances.
I think that if this interview is true and well translated. Irene (without malice) directly exposes Céline about her last three performances.
This creates doubts in the eyes of the public and will create more conspiracies.
It is very risky, she should not mention this because Céline is slowly coming back to performing. I don't think that Céline creates false expectations and "cheats", Céline is not like that.
If she couldn't perform live again...she wouldn't have performed in Paris and at Elie Saab's 1001 seasons celebration fashion show.
Céline has said that she is rebuilding her voice and from what we heard backstage, her voice sounds like it always has and even stronger.
In conclusion, Céline would not do this kind of performances, if  she will not be ready to do it. Céline is the only one who should give this information.
Don't get me wrong, I am not criticizing Irene, but today more than ever we have to be very careful what we say about Céline and her voice. A lot of people might start commenting on those rumors that she can no longer sing.
We already know the comments of the "analysts" and their single-minded mission.
In conclusion, everyone is free to believe what they want.
I know that Celine has taken her career very seriously, that she has always been honest with us and that she will be back, I am very sure of that.
Céline will keep us up to date.

Guess we will see what happens in 2025.
it is most likely just marketing. They made Irene say all that as a spoiler towards the fans so that they know what to expect (a new album) and at the same time give the docu another push during Christmas time

I hope she will sing the way she did on that CBC interview. Her unchained melody sounded so relaxed and beautiful Posted Image

Celine didn't sing live in those two performances though. Irene's comment seems to be more about live singing than physical performance (for which Celine is probably good enough). We don't really know what the singing voice is at the moment; and also, how durable it is (most little snippets we heard were good, but can she sustain that for 1+ hour? and can she do higher notes?)

Yes but that’s the best choice. If she can sing TPOL perfect because ores a “lip” track but struggles an easier song live people will have false hope and or know she’s lipping. She only gets away with it so much because people knew she was capable of it, now it would be misleading.

It was already getting ridiculous in 2016-17 when she struggled with first two verses of MHWGO but when had a perfect (lipped) culmination.

I hope if she does return, she won't go too hard on herself, and they actually change the arrangements to fit her, something like piano version MHWGO etc. Or make lipping parts less impressive so that the difference won't be as noticable.

Celine's voice on Whitney's Run To You in the Vogue interview was amazing, but a full Vegas Show is another level.

I share most of your comments. To me this interview sounds weird too. Saying that Celine cannot sing as she did before : if you mean 1990- 2000 era voice, that's pretty sure. If she meant  2008-2020  voice , we do thank her for that, because honestly there were some concerts when we hoped she did not sing some songs like All. by myself because it was painful for our ears. So second like most of you I love Celine crystal clear voice, and I don't understand why she did try this raw/ bedroom voice that wasn't her.

To come back to this interview, she does not know about Goldman song. She said this because it was for French newspaper and please French fans. Can you imagine, she said in her own documentary that there are archives images where we see young Celine seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time while it is not even true. Come on, these are archive videos from Celine in 1984 for her first Olympia. At this time she had seen the Eiffel Tower for long ...

No, I just think Irene want to ride the wave on the success of the documentary to make her a name. That's justified. Like you I think Celine can sing a couple a song. And not concerts. Before she will be able to run a tour, it will probably take long. Anyway, if she can make an album and promote it, that's already fantastic.

Regarding French songs, It may ask less vocal performances but finally more nuances which may be more difficult at the end of the day. To me it's more like sticking to René vision of her career as he anticipated that ( I guess it was 1998 interview )saying that, like for every artist after the climax of their career, instead of running after being number one position while your are no more the hit of the moment, it would be better to return slowly to the roots.
