The Sia phase has lasted 8 years lol.
I think Celine is behind on music trends if, as she has said before, she doesn't listen to a lot of music. The pandemic could have easily changed that, though, since she had time. The only problem is mainstream pop music has gone downhill in the last few years, imo.
If Celine were getting influence or inspiration from the lesser known pop innovators such as Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek, Christine and the Queens, Angele, Pomme, Aya Nakamura, Rina Sawayama, etc. I think she would really have more exciting new music of her own to bring us.

First reaction of this song. Is it really catchy? Cause this person looks like this song's lyrics got stuck in his brains.

I remember people were so relieved at the time that it wasn’t the movie version lol. I liked both.

„….. but timing isn’t always a great song’s best friend.
The same is true of Warren’s long-awaited re-pairing with Celine Dion for the new “Superwoman.” The gently contagious song huffs, puffs and is definitely dated in a Toni Braxton-meets-Cher manner. But if songcraft like Diane Warren’s is so wrong in an era where that kind of big diva balladry rarely tops charts anymore, who needs being right?“
I like the song and don’t agree that it sounds dated.

These journalists make me so mad lol. I don't mind if they crituqe Celine or a song, but they *never* have any original viewpoint and they keep recycling the same old cliches/stereotypes about Celine. Total losers.
Toni Braxton meets Cher? WHAT does that even mean?

I think many people expected Courage to be that kind of album for Celine

I think the last time, I felt a song on one of Celine’s album that impacted me/ moved me on the first listen was probably something on “One Heart”. “Taking Chances” was the beginning of this new Celine sound in my opinion, it wasn’t as in your face as it is now but definitely something began to change with the type of songs on that album and her approach to singing them. Then the LMBTL era came and it solidified it. However, I much prefer “courage” album over LMBTL album.
I know it’s 2021, but I want strong power ballads, with the clear vocals (no asking for anything her voice isn’t still capable of doing). It would be one thing if she wasn’t able to give that clarity and range but she is and she’s proved it.
Power ballads, mixed with great uptempo songs in her signature voice and I’m grand. I think that’s why I love the “One Heart” album it has the crazy vocals of IDAN, Coulda Woulda Shoulda, and the soaring ballads of IKWLI and In His Touch, in addition to the great mid temps like Faith, and Forget Me Not…. BUT ALL using the most beautiful tone and singing technique and her signature voice!

When I listened change my mind I do hear some classic Celine belting but she also tries to sing with that nasal Sia voice… Yes then people say to me, but Celine has always had this nasal Voice. And for a part i agree, her voice is a bit nasal but still pleasant, but this way of singing, also like here on Superwoman where she clearly puts on that sort of tough way of singing like Sia does, exaggerates the nasal sound. It is not a pleasant sound. And I am sure she can sing clearer with some help from her producers and vocal coach.
From the first time I listened to ‘I still have faith in you’ from Abba, I got goosebumps and tears in my eyes. I have not had this feeling for a long time, that I want to listen to a new song so often. The way I was so excited listening to my heart will go on, to it’s all coming back to me now, a new day has come…
Tried to do this with Superwoman….what a different quality. It is bland, emotionless and her way of singing is unpleasant to my ears. Yesterday I listened again and it is boring, nothing to be excited for. Some filler on the courage album.

Edit
I just listened to the first track of their new album and I like it. It’s very orchestral too. The effect on their voice reminds me of what Madonna is using in her current voice.

I was responding to the new pop direction I wanted from Celine and the type of song, not her vocal delivery. I didn't think she was very nasal on Change My Mind at all compared to other songs.

This could be a good idea for a thread. Her most recent viral internet moment in recent years IMO was the meme of her being sung to in NYC in her car, when the fan sang "I Surrender" to her. Not sure how much that contributed to her Youtube views or streams, though. Other than this recently I think it was Rene's passing (RIP) and the release of Ashes.

Thank god celine album doesnt sound liek a throw back album who needs another all by myself and another my heart will go on.. Artists evolve and grown and change their sounds... I hate it when artist stay stuck in same pattern... People need to get over the fact that she is trying new things to fit her voice if you want old sounds listen to her old cd's... She is allowed to experiment and try new things i love the rasp in her voice.... I like her clean voice too... some just fit better with rasp other better sung clean I dont hear rasp in courage she sang it pretty clean so dont know what everybody is hammering about... Courage is a perfect celine dion ballad without any sia esc mimicing
