All of her 'recent' uptempo songs suck when performing live.

Mego couldn't do it, and Scott is having a hard time as well.

In studio they use computers to make the modern sounds and when live she has an orchestra. So of course it sounds different.
For these recent uptempo songs they need to use a backing track with the music playing along. And use the orchestra for an extra.

Scott definitely knows her songs, and surely give her advice. But I think she still the boss haha.
Wish we would see Breakaway or Didn't Know Love someday again

I'm not quite sure if it's a good idea to use the orchestra in every song, especially the uptempo and more recent ones. It works for the ballads, but not so much for the rest. I loved Scotts version of TSMGO with the orchestra! It was a spectacle! But other songs lose their edge.

IMO Scott is great for everything pre-2002 (except all ballads, he has a knack for making excellent arrangements for ballads).

For example, whilst many think RDMH is less energetic and less "loud", he's really put the brass section to good use, and if you see RDMH live, it's sooooo different from what you hear in videos. His arrangements of RTD/LIAWN/Misled and THLAL were exceptionally good. Even though RTD is mainly synthesised, he managed to create an amazing arrangement for this

Even for songs like LMBTL, the lower key was extremely well created. Definitely superior to Megos version. I'd go as far as to say that if he were to ever create an arrangement for Shadow Of Love or Fade Away they would sound wayyyyyyyy better than Mego's versions as shown by 90% of Mego's arrangements in comparison to Scott

I think they did a fantastic job with Á Vous in 2017.  One of my favorite part of the show

Scott is doing amazing things especially the ballads. Every tour he made little subtle changes.
And I agree, hearing it in person is so so different than through YouTube and all.

I would love to see the full version of Unison, WITH rapping part. Would be sooo awesome now

That is what incredible,  loved me back to life and even ashes did not get the treatment to really shine live!   incredible needs the sampled big bassdrums,  lmbtl needs the drums and digital sampled sounds and ashes misses more prominent drums too.  it sound a bit boring,  this arrangement

im so happy i didnt watch it then. her voice didnt sound in top shape from the few clips i saw. she needs to stop rambling for ever in her concerts...someone in her team needs to shed some light on that lol

I think for “That’s The Way It Is” he improved the arrangement from Megos. “I’m Alive” has gotten worse.
I bet he would work a nice arrangement for “A New Day Has Come” Radio Remix if he attempted it since it’s more of a midtempo like TTWII but she hasn’t performed it since he took over as conductor.

But overall you’re right; I hope once Vegas is over they revert back to just the band without the Orchestra and really start to focus on the backing vocals and perhaps bring in a choir for that extra umph!

The Tokyo televised show. She sounds raw there. Like a mic feed. They haven’t tried to polish it. That’s why you guys don’t like it. I told you when céline performs. It’s as is. What you hear in live same in pro. They’re just adding effects. Unlike TCWT it’s dubbed also the une seule fois concert but the sur les plaines back in 2008 it’s not dubbed but they managed to make it sound better

Hes being extremely over dramatic. Its the same stuff she was talking about in vegas, its just because they cut out audience audio alot so it SOUNDED awkward. And her voice wasnt in top shape but then like 2 days later in macao she was SERVING

That’s true, her speeches are even cringeworthy at times. She seems totally out of her element which is not normal for her well it wasn’t while René was at the helm. Hate to say it but I think she needs someone to write her speeches and keep it limited, she needs to express herself through music instead; at least in English.

And of course she seems more intelligent in french.... its her native language. People who’re bilingual often are far more expressive and far more able to articulate what they’re trying to say. Its clear that English is still her insecurity, hence why shes always quick to correct herself in interviews if she mis pronounces something... jesus some people are dense....

Listen, nobody wants “robot” Celine back; the days when she wouldn’t even change a single Syllable for 5 years straight.

However, we are now at the other extreme...she goes on and on for far too long to the point where if you look of reviews of people who have seen her in concert, something like 1/3 people say it’s too much.

I wish she would opt for more simple speeches between songs, actually telling us things about the song before she performs it. Like saying what it was like recording a certain song or album etc. instead she goes on and on about opening up the envelope from Ryan Reynolds.

Since then.. i want the short scripted speech back in A New Day. Imagine the long talk. It could be replace by 2-3 songs. I feel like when talking too much strains your vocal cords.

She made it extremely shorter (max 2 minutes) only on the last show-January 20. But this may have been because she was flying to Paris right after the show.

Where are you getting these reviews and statistics from?
The only complaining I've seen has been on this forum and a few on one YouTube video (which comes from fans that are also watching her concert videos daily).

The Ashes speech has been dragged out but that's the only one of her talking points that would need cutting down a little, imo. But I still wouldn't want her to delete it all the way because it's one of the few moments she interacts with fans (unless she inserts a speech for another song).
But this discussion should be in the Vegas thread.

And the way some talk about Rene is like he had some kind of dictatorship over Celine. Do you think he also scheduled her bathroom breaks?
If he was as controlling as some make him seem then it's no wonder Celine feels free now.
I'd rather have her be 100% natural and happy on stage then feeling like she's on a leash.

First of all I think you should go to many of the ticket selling sites with comments and reviews and you’d see it. There is a lot of negative comments about how much she speaks for about 1 and half to 2 years now.

Second of all, nobody said Rene was the dictator of her life but I think in 2019, almost now 5 years without Rene as her manager it’s more evident that he did have lots of say. I think he may have had way more say than we even realized. Even Celine said that he would talk to her nightly about each aspect of the show.

If she talked too much he would tell her, if she wasn’t her best vocally he’d tell her, if a stage costume wasn’t flattering he’d tell her.
So yes he had lots of power, some of us fans may have not liked everything he did for her career but no doubt we all know now that without him it would’ve been way worse and Rene (god bless his soul) wasn’t a dumb man he knew what he was talking about that’s probably why Celine trusted his judgment more than anyone else.

I think Céline is back to be interesting by a lot of people that are not THE FANS right now with her fearless fashion choices on many major fashion magazines.

Her voice? None of the divas in her generation can belt like her and we all still complaining that her voice was not in top shape?? She's a 50 years old woman!!!LOL^^ Of cause it's gonna be on and off sometimes and for her speech she's been doing this for decades with René and now he's gone, please just let her have fun. Let her dress the way she wants, doing what she loves and being herself with people who loves her. I think it's healing her soul.

Also many more interesting things keep on happening like Hyde Park. Of cause if it wasn't because of René we wouldn't have THE CÉLINE today but all those great things I mentioned happening after he passed. So please don't underestimate this new fearless diva. She's back in the game and by her own!

It's not about being a dictator. Telling your artist or wife that she talks too much between songs is just something she needs to be told. She thinks she is being funny because people laugh, and nobody on her team is honest enough to tell her that she needs to cut the chatting in half at least. She really needs some helpful people on that team.

Rene who kept it real is gone; and now we have people that will tell Celine that she shits rainbows and butterflies and everything she does is the best thing since sliced bread. That does Celine no favors.
