I think this experience has finally taught us to rely only on official communications from her team. Unfortunately, not even the red heads have proven to be reliable. From now on, I’ll only consider information coming directly from team Celine.
Forum sections like New Las Vegas Residency just don’t make sense anymore — it’s all speculation, and honestly, I’m getting tired of it.

This has been going on for five years. Five years.

But there was no communication about the Olympics right? That’s exactly why we all believed in the Eurovision

***I speak French, sorry for my mistakes in English. I would be very happy if you write me a private message to tell me when I make mistakes, as I want to improve my English***

Indeed. But we saw her previous days in Paris. It was sort of confirmation. Now, with Basel, there was no evident clue about her performance.

I see what you mean, but the difference with Eurovision is that we actually had more concrete hints about Paris. Things like Céline mentioning Paris in interviews, the Céline Paris shirt, and especially her being in Paris just a couple of days before — all of that made the Olympic theory feel a lot more grounded.
With Eurovision, though, there wasn’t anything nearly as strong. That’s why, looking back, I think we got carried away by speculation more than actual signs.

With the whole world though.

Just a point to make also- any ‘fan’ who posts tweets with fake info about her plane being here or there, or alludes to her being spotted somewhere she isn’t should be ashamed.

The truth is nothing can be believed.

The only good thing to take out of this mass hysteria is that the world is eager to see her back on stage.

Celine obviously told them months ago she wouldn’t be attending. They played her video at the semi finals and it inevitably generated interest and speculation that she would attend the final. The organisers did nothing to squash these rumours and perhaps hoped it might pressure Celine into attending. When it became clear she wouldn’t attend - as she had told them months ago - they threw their toys out of the pram and didn’t even give her a mention during the Grand Final.

I agree. I wonder if they thought they could persuade her to come and she just wasn't interested. It was an especially bad show and the interval was terrible. I would have switched off long before the end if there hadn't been the prospect of her coming on. I see why she doesn't seem keen to be associated with it. Maybe there is some bad blood between them. She has not shown any interest in Eurovision for several decades now so I would not have expected her to be there. I was sceptical right up until the show started then all the talk was it looked like she was there.

The show was ghastly.  Celine needs a comeback not in a big stadium. Too risky. To noisy. A nice show or theatre. Olympics were huge but she was technically alone on the tower with her piano player. That big stadium would have posed too many risks. I’m certain Celine if she was able to sing at full, she  would do a mini concert at home. She hasn’t. That tells us no return is near. And perhaps never will be. She’s simply not at that stage. We need to stop pretending and being silly. She’s seen out and about, but three years from diagnosis, she’s not performed live. That speaks volumes and we need to wake up to the fact. Being seen watching football is one thing, performing is another. She could easily do a song at home. She hasn’t. The voice is not there yet. Look at the documentary. When she sobs what was this time 2022? . What I find odd is timings. 2021 she’s being interviewed for a new show. Then a year later the documentary shows a cracked voice. It’s all odd. Anyway, no return is likely this year or next. We need to smell the coffee!!! Celine is enjoying life of a life limiting progressive disease. I doubt she’ll perform again.

Honestly, as much as I would’ve loved to see Celine at Eurovision this year—especially considering how iconic her win was—I think it’s actually for the best that she stayed away.

The show has been clouded by so much negativity lately, and the way it’s been handled politically feels completely at odds with what Eurovision is supposed to represent: unity, joy, and music without borders. Celine has always been about bringing people together, not dividing them. She stands for something much bigger than a show that’s currently getting headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Her absence, in a way, speaks volumes. It protects her legacy and keeps her above the noise.

Just my personal take—but I really think she made the right call.

She was in Paris all week. Leaving at night. It was obvious she was rehearsing. This time nothing.

One moment to note is that she did sing a bit during her last year interviews, and they sounded great, much better than 2019 overnasal singing.

Which makes me think she either

1. can't hit specifically high/hard notes

2. can't sustain singing for long

In #1, she could still sing not demanding songs / adapt her songs (e.g. On C'est Aima A Cause without last chorus should be easy to sing).

But if it's #2, I don't know...

She can’t sustain it. It’s obvious. Years in. Time to accept it.

I don’t understand why anybody should be angry with Céline for this. ESC organizers are the only ones to be blame, they kept feeding the speculation even though they probably knew she wasn’t coming since summer last year. “Saint Claus exists”, “wait and see”, comments as recent as yesterday. They should be ashamed, they didn’t even have her tribute in the final. Plus one of the worst ESC I remember regarding quality of the songs.

Yes, they should be ashamed. But these rumors were not new and they weren’t something that Celine and her team couldn’t have gotten under control by making a statement. All Celine had to say is that she would 100% not be attending the festival at all.

We can’t even count on Celine or her team to give official word, it seems. There’s no way they didn’t know that these rumors were spiraling even faster after the semifinal. They had a responsibility to make a statement when it was clear that ESC and European media were pretty much confirming her presence.

The high point was the report on BBC and other media about her Privat Jet in Basel. At this point TC should have reacted.IMO
The question is, why didn't they react?

Also, when Celine said “tonight” she wished ahead could be in Basel…. She clearly thought she’d be on the finale night… they’ve been playing too many games and to be honest even now, the team should be updating us and denying it, even after the fact.

You have media outlets who claim to be reliable picking up a story online from a FAKE Pepe account, who said “Celine suffered an episode right before the show and had to pull out”… they can’t let this go on, yet they will.

Eurovision is to blame for this fiasco. The rumours of her attending the finale went viral and out of control and all they did was fuel the fire. They clearly saw an opportunity to raise the viewing ratings if there even the slightest chance she might make an appearance.

No mention of her in the past winner segment was just plain rude.

And then using the phrase 'Ne partez sans moi' to put it on a giant sign on the control tower of the Swiss airport.

I think there’s something strange or hidden going on here, and it’s not because of Celine’s team, but Eurovision’s.

From the Las Vegas review journal who reached out to Celine’s team, she was never planning on going.

“According to sources with direct knowledge of Dion’s day-to-day activities, the former Colosseum at Caesars Palace resident headliner has been in Las Vegas all week and weekend. She’s been tending to routine daily tasks, working out five days a week and singing with plans to eventually return to the stage.

A source close to the entertainer said, “There is no doubt she’ll be back. She’s in great, great condition.””

Last night, during Eurovision, I was saying how strange it seemed to me that they showed the message in the semi-final and not in the final. My God! It's Céline, a superstar!! Wouldn't it have made more sense to show it in the grand final?

Honestly, setting aside whether she was at Eurovision or not, I don’t really mind anymore. The fact that a source close to Céline said she’s doing very well is very positive — it means that sooner or later she’ll be back to being her old self. It would’ve been worse if they had told us she was doing very badly. I believe she’ll even be able to sing like she did on the Courage tour, where, despite already having SPS, she sang just as beautifully as always.

Céline's team will always be to blame to some extent. They have to control the narrative.

Sure they didn't confirm anything but they had to deny the rumors anyway because WE - as fans - were impacted.

Even now... a statement would be more than welcomed. To tell her side of the story. Because if she didn't plan to go from the start, it would sure expose ESC purposely deceiving statements.

After what happened with official representives stating publicly they were in contact with Céline and left us without any explaination, is there truly anyone on this board trusting a hypothetical "closed source"?
