She has no digital certifications ; and i know there are some for her singles, and several albums are under certified (and some not at all).
Come on Sony/ Columbia. It's ridiculous.

It has been TEN YEARS since Celine's catalogue has been rectified. She has no digital certifications at all. I really hope with her touring the US now her record company will update her RIAA certifications and present her with a new plaque. She should have lots of updates including a Gold Certification for Ashes

I agree with you!!
BTW your post from last year was November 15th! Did you really think it would be one exact year from that post when the album eventually came out?

But is it listed somewhere else as more than just gold? Like, surely the RIAA would publish the numbers without having to tell Celine?

there only were a limited amount of the MHWGO single available in the USA, because Sony wanted to sell more copies of LTAL and the soundtrack. Which worked of course, but it's still sad she didn't sell like 3 million copies of MHWGO in the USA alone...

It's def more than just gold. The RIAA certifications aren't automatic like they are for the BPI in the UK for example. Sony and Celine's team have to pay for the certifications to be updated in the USA. A lot of artists are under certified for this exact reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't release more than 500 K singles of MHWGO. They wanted to push album sales, both LTAL and Titanic OST, so Sony decided to release small number of singles. That's the reason the song only spent two weeks at #1 in the hot 100 despite insane radio spins.

WHY has Sony Music, Columbia Records, or Legacy Recordings still not requested a RIAA update to Celine's iconic, amazing catalog of music for more than 10 YEARS!? It is absolutely PAINFUL to keep seeing other "Legacy artists" get their albums and singles certified often, but Celine's recordings are getting no new certifications. It's very sad, and disappointing.

Celine Dion has had so many songs in her career that she has recorded, that have had such an amazing positive impact on millions of people’s lives around the world. Celine has had albums and songs that have achieved tremendous chart and sales success, and at the same time became treasured pieces of art that loyal fans cherish, and new fans are discovering.

It’s been almost 10 years since Celine Dion’s last RIAA certification. The last RIAA certification was on July 16th, 2010. That was for two video longform certifications. The last album of Celine’s to have any RIAA certification was for Taking Chances almost 12 years ago, in 2008. The last single of Celine’s to receive an RIAA certification was in 1998! Why has it been so very long since Celine has had any RIAA certification(s)?
Another even more shocking fact is that Celine has NEVER had any digital single RIAA certification! As you know, this award counts both downloads and on-demand music streams. On-demand audio and/or video song streams are counted towards the thresholds required for certification at the formula of 150 on-demand streams being equivalent to one download sale.
According to the digital single criteria, Celine has MANY songs that qualify for RIAA digital single awards/certifications.
Examples of Celine’s songs that qualify to be certified are:
- My Heart Will Go On: According to Billboard, as of 2017, My Heart Will Go On had sold more than 1.7 million copies in the U.S., and as of 2019 had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 588.2 million, which together equal more than 5.6 million in sales and streams, which would qualify My Heart Will Go On to be certified for at least 5X platinum.
- Because You Loved Me: According to Billboard, as of 2012, Because You Loved Me had sold more than 704,000 digital copies, and as of 2019, had U.S. On-Demand steams of more than 154.7 million, which together equal more than 1.7 million in sales and streams, which would qualify Because You Loved Me to be certified for at least platinum.
- The Power of Love: According to Billboard, as of 2012, The Power of Love had sold more 354,000 digital copies, and as of 2019, had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 99 million, which together equal more than 1.014 million in sales and streams, which would qualify The Power of Love to be certified for at least platinum.
- It’s All Coming Back To Me Now: According to Billboard, as of 2012, It’s All Coming Back To Me Now had sold more than 387,000 digital copies, and as of 2019, had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 84.5 million, which together
- equal more than 950,000 in sales and streams, which would qualify It’s All Coming Back To Me Now to be certified for at least gold.
- A New Day Has Come: According to Billboard, as of 2012, A New Day Has Come had sold more than 357,000 digital copies, and as of 2019, had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 49.4 million, which together equal more than 686,000 in sales and streams, which would qualify A New Day Has Come to be certified at least gold.
- All By Myself: According to Billboard, as of 2019, All By Myself had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 70 million, and also had reported digital sales of more than 117,000 copies sold, as of 2010, which together equal more than 584,000 in sales and streams, which would qualify All By Myself to be certified at least gold.
- Beauty and the beast: According to Billboard, as of 2019, Beauty and the beast had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 60.4 million, and also had reported digital sales of more than 159,000 copies sold, as of 2010, which together equal more than 562,000 in sales and streams, which would qualify Beauty and the beast to be certified at least gold.
- That’s the way it is: According to Billboard, as of 2019, That’s the way it is had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 54.1 million, and also had reported digital sales of more than 154,000 copies sold, as of 2010, which together equal more than 515,000 in sales and streams, which would qualify That’s the way it is to be certified at least gold.
- I’m Alive: According to Billboard, as of 2019, I’m Alive had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 49.5 million, and also had reported digital sales of more than 156,000, as of 2010, which together equal more than 486,000 in sales and streams. It’s very likely that between 2010 and 2020, I’m Alive has sold an additional 14,000+ digital copies, which would qualify I’m Alive to be certified at least gold.
- Taking Chances: According to Billboard, as of 2012, Taking Chances had digital sales of more than 498,000 digital copies sold. It is very likely that between 2010 and 2020, Taking Chances has sold an additional 2,000+ digital copies, which would qualify Taking Chances to be certified at least gold.
- Ashes: According to Billboard, as of 2019, Ashes had U.S. On-Demand streams of more than 64 million, which equals 427,000 copies in sales. It’s very likely that millions in additional U.S. On-Demand streams, as well as thousands in digital sales have been achieved, which would qualify Ashes to be certified gold.
- The Prayer (duet with Andrea Bocelli), O Holy Night, and Happy Xmas (War Is Over): These Christmas/Holiday classics have been reported to have huge digital sales, as well as amazing streaming numbers, which are believed to be enough to certified each song at least gold.
Examples of Celine’s albums that qualify to be certified are:
- The Collector’s Series Volume One: had reported U.S. sales of more than 914,000 copies sold as of 2010. It is very likely that an additional 86,000 copies were sold between 2010 and 2020, which would qualify this album to be certified platinum.
- These Are Special Times: Reported by Nielsen music as of 2019, to had album sales, plus track-equivalent albums (downloads) and stream-equivalent album sales together of more than 6.4 million, which would qualify this album to certified at least 6X platinum.
- All The Way… A Decade of Song: According to Billboard, as of 2019, All The Way… A Decade of Song had sold more than 8.2 million copies, which would qualify this album to be certified at least 8X platinum.
- My Love: Essential Collection: has reported U.S. sales of more than 500,000 copies sold, which would qualify this album to be certified at least gold.
- Loved Me Back To Life: has reported U.S. sales of more than 300,000 copies sold, and when adding in track-equivalent albums (downloads) and stream-equivalent albums sales, it is very likely to have U.S. sales of more than 500,000 copies, which would qualify this album to be certified at least gold.
Examples of Celine’s video longform releases that qualify to be certified are:
- All The Way… A Decade of Song & Video: had reported U.S. sales of more than 300,000 as of 2010. It is very likely that thousands of more copies have been sold in the U.S. between 2010 and 2020. This video release should be certified at least 3X platinum.
- Live in Las Vegas: A New Day… : had reported sales of more than 500,000 copies sold in the U.S., this two disc video release should be certified Diamond.
Why hasn't Sony Music, or Columbia Records, or Legacy Recordings been submitting any requests to the RIAA for certifications?
According to the RIAA: Record labels are required to validate that titles redeemed through product sales/on-demand streams and counted towards certification have actually been distributed or downloaded within the United States, and Requests for certification may be made by email to the RIAA. RIAA certification entitles the authorized record company/artist to purchase official RIAA award plaques bearing the trademarked RIAA hologram seal from RIAA’s licensed plaque manufacturers.
All certification audits are conducted, for a fee, by the firm Gelfand, Rennert and Feldman, LLP (GR&F) for the RIAA. If multiple certification levels are simultaneously certified, only one audit certification fee is charged.
Celine’s amazing songs, albums, and video releases have continued to stay relevant over the years, selling and streaming in the millions. These releases have been an important part of peoples lives, and their legacy should be honored by awarding their sales achievements with the RIAA certifications that they qualify for.
We should all send Sony Music, Columbia Records, and Legacy Recordings a twitter message, an Instagram post or DM, or an email and ask each to honor Celine's recordings & their legacy, and request new RIAA certifications

The stream numbers aren't that high for RIAA certification, though. Those numbers are from Billboard/Nielsen Music, wich counts every single stream, including those from user generated videos and audios (unofficial ones), remixes, live versions and etc.
RIAA have different rules. Only official streams/videos, with label licenses, are eligible; only remixes no more than 90 seconds longer than the original track; the live and studio versions aren't counted as one, but separately.
If we took the stream numbers from MHWGO, for RIAA has to be way less, specially since there's no official video of the song on YouTube, the biggest stream plataform, only one audio with 5 million views worldwide, and a lot of different live versions.
But, nonetheless, the RIAA certification Celine have now it's definitely way lower than the reality of her sales. I wonder if it is too expensive. Nobody talks about certifications anymore, it's not the big deal that once was. Maybe they want to keep the budget for more relevant things.

The numbers that Billboard/Nielsen Music reports are OFFICIAL U.S. On-demand audio and/or video streams, not unofficial or user generated videos.
These OFFICIAL numbers from Billboard/Nielsen Music, are absolutely used by record labels to determine certifications, and submit requests to the RIAA.
Where did you read anything about Billboard and Nielsen Music reporting every stream, including unofficial releases, and user generated videos? Billboard and Nielsen only release official U.S. on-demand streams in their news articles, not unofficial numbers. There is no question there. The RIAA does use the same streaming U.S. on-demand numbers.
From the official RIAA website: "Song Award: This award counts both downloads and on-demand music streams. On-demand audio and/or video song streams are counted towards the thresholds required for certification at the formula of 150 on-demand streams being equivalent to one download sale. *Additional notes: Only sales and streams occurring in the United States qualify for RIAA awards. On-demand streams on digital music services that are authorized by and reported to the record labels, whether paid for by the consumer through a subscription or free to the consumer through ad-supported services, will be accepted for RIAA certifications." and on the website, it says this about unofficial, user generated videos: "Only official label/company videos count towards certification; user-generated videos do not." Again, Billboard, and Nielsen Music also do not report sales and streaming numbers from user-generated videos.
As for the sales and streaming of MHWGO, Billboard reported that official download digital sales of the song were already over 1.7 million over three years ago, and then reported the official US on-demand streaming number of 588.2 million as of last year, which would then be more than 5.6 million units in US sales, according to the RIAA rules, to qualify for certification units.
Regarding the cost for Celine's record labels, it is NOT expensive. From the RIAA website: "To cover the time and expense incurred by our certification and audit teams, we require the following fees:
- RIAA member companies: $350 per certification
- Non-members: $450 per level of certification (must be prepaid)"
Lastly, I definitely disagree that people or the music industry doesn't talk about RIAA certifications anymore, lol, that is far from the truth. Even recently, last year, or this year, there are many new music news articles about new RIAA certifications, including for Whitney Houston. RIAA are surely still relevant and artists are still very excited to receive these awards/certifications, to let them know the impact that their music is having, with fans taking time to purchase or stream the music.
Normally, artists fans are also very excited for their favorite artists to have their most popular and loved releases become certified, especially if they reach new milestones with a certification, such a having an album be certified diamond and winning a diamond award!
Currently, only Shania Twain, and now Whitney Houston are the only female music artists in history with three diamond certified albums and diamond awards. And, right now, Celine has two albums certified Diamond. If All The Way... A Decade Of Song was certified Diamond for sales, streams, including album track downloads as stated on the RIAA website: "Each permanent digital album or physical album sale count as 1 Unit for certification purposes. 10 permanent track downloads from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes. 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from the album count as 1 Unit" then Celine would be tied with Shania and Whitney with three diamond certified albums!
I have contacted Sony Music, Columbia Records, and Legacy Recordings to request them to update Celine's RIAA certifications.
It would be amazing if there was no more arguing about these numbers, and if any of you could reach out and contact them to request that also! The more fans show interest in seeing their favorite, best selling Celine albums, songs, and music video releases get honored and certified, the more likely this can happen soon!

On this article, from Billboard:
https://www.billboar...ng-album-charts
Quoting the article:
"While YouTube streams have factored into the Billboard Hot 100 and other song-specific charts since February 2013, this marks a first for the album charts. In contrast with song charts, which can be impacted by user-generated videos, only official licensed video content uploaded by or on behalf of rights holders will be counted for the Billboard 200 and other albums charts."
Billboard it self it's saying the user-genereted videos, AKA unofficial content, it is counted to their song charts. Only the albums charts are limited to offical licensed video. So, despite what you're saying, it looks like there is a question here!

As for the RIAA rules, here's another link for you: https://www.riaa.com...EQUIREMENTS.pdf
Quoting: "Multiple versions of digital tracks can be combined for the purposes of certification under the following guidelines: tracks defined as ‘radio mix’ or ‘album version’; edited and explicit versions; remixes, provided they are not more than 90 seconds longer than the original version
‘Live’ recordings of a digital track may not be combined with other versions for the purpose of certification but may be certified separately.
Only official label/company videos count towards certification, User Generated Videos do not."
As for Billboard, they are well know for counting multiple remixes and live versions combined with the single. It's part of their rule to not allow a song to enter in the charts twice with two versions. All it's counted as one. That's how "Old Town Road" spent so much time on #1, recently.

RIAA has never used the same data that Billboard or Nielsen. It has his own sales database, as you can see it in here:
https://www.riaa.com...sales-database/
Quoting: "The Recording Industry Association of America also tracks sales (or more specifically, shipments minus potential returns) on a long-term basis through the RIAA certification system; it has never used either Nielsen SoundScan or the store-calling method."
Billboard also confirms that on here:
https://www.billboar...ews/73253/49ask
Quoting: "Remember that the RIAA bases its data on shipments to retailers, and not Nielsen SoundScan sales."
As for MHWGO, I keep what a said. From the two biggest streming plataforms, Youtube and Spotify, if we count ONLY the official numbers, and exclude the live versions, she has 5 million on the first, and 278 million on the second. That's worldwide. How we could get to 588 million, only in USA, without couting unofficial user genereted streams? Now, about this particuly information, i'm not puting my finger on it. It might be right, I don't know all the numbers from all the streaming plataforms, only the ones I use. Althougt, it is difficult to believe that less popular plataforms has bigger numbers than this. But I can't be sure of it, that much I admit. That being said, until I see the real numbers, i'm still septical about it.

^ adding on to my other posts recently, as stated from Billboard, user generated unofficial videos that use part of an official song from an artist like Celine, may be used to factor into their charts such as the Billboard Hot 100 or other song CHARTS, or album charts such as the Billboard 200, but my focus was not on how Billboard's formula works in regards to their CHARTS, I was focused on the official permanent DIGITAL download sales since the beginning of the digital era which began around 2003, and the official streaming numbers Billboard released for U.S. only, on-demand streams in the entire streaming era for Celine's songs, such as "My Heart Will Go On".
- I was not trying to debate how Billboard will use data from user, unofficial videos for their own album or song charts. So, I'm sorry if that was miscommunicated or if anything I said regarding how Billboard or RIAA uses streaming numbers or certification criteria was incorrect.
My focus was this: Billboard has reported OFFICIAL PERMANANT DIGITAL DOWNLOAD numbers in "Ask Billboard" articles, and NIELSEN MUSIC has reported OFFICIAL U.S. ONLY, ON-DEMAND AUDIO AND VIDEO STREAMING FIGURES for Celine's albums, and songs in 2012, 2017, and 2019 which I used, based on the current criteria the RIAA states can be submitted by a record label to them for review to certify albums and songs, or music video releases, like "All The Way... A Decade Of Song And Video, that was released in 2001 and has OFFICIAL U.S. sales of more than 300,000 copies sold. That means that music video collection is now eligible for 3X Platinum or higher.
Also, That doesn't mean that record companies will submit direct news articles or figures from Billboard to the RIAA to have a album or song certified. I completely understand that, and I understand that RIAA bases it's data on shipments to retailers, and not SoundScan. That's not what my focus was at all.
However, most of the time, shipments to retailers and official Nielsen Music album sales figures closely mirror each other. If a record label ships 5 million copies of an album to retailers, and Nielsen Music reports an album has actually sold 4.9 million units at retail, then it makes sense for that album to be certified 5X platinum. And, with the new digital download and streaming era for many years now, people aren't going to buy a single at a music store that a record label shipped any longer. They are buying the digital download online of a song, or streaming the song on from let's say Spotify. The RIAA accepts OFFICIAL streaming figures for albums, and songs from MANY different streaming service companies, not just the big one's such as YouTube, or Spotify. The Nielsen Music OFFICIAL U.S. only, on-demand stream figure released TO Billboard last year, was OFFICIAL, they track all streaming service provider numbers for streaming, but the streaming numbers Billboard uses for their own charts is different, but I'm not talking about Billboard charts, just what Billboard reports from Nielsen Music. Record companies can have the same numbers for U.S. streaming that Nielsen Music reports, if the record label requests OFFICIAL streaming #'s from music streaming companies, such as from Spotify and MANY other sources.
Overall, my main focus was to express my frustration about how it's been over 10 years since any of Celine's record labels- Sony Music, Columbia Record, or Legacy Recordings, have submitted a request to the RIAA to have any of Celine's releases certified.
It's absolutely crazy that Celine has NEVER had any song get certified yet for a digital single gold, platinum, or multi-platinum award!!!
So many of Celine's albums, songs, and music video releases are ELIGIBLE for RIAA certifications! All her record labels need to do is submit an email to the RIAA and request certifications, which does not cost very much, especially for a major record label, that Celine has made millions for. These albums and songs, and music video collections deserve to be honored for the impact, and relevance that they have had or still have today!
I have contacted Sony Music, Columbia Records, and Legacy Records to request that the update Celine's RIAA certifications to honor her albums, songs, and music video collections, who else here is willing to contact them as well??

I have sent an email to Billboard yesterday asking them for some updated SPS figures of some of Céline's albums.

Since 1999, for example, it is said that the album FIY sold 32M and that the album LTAL sold 31M. These figures are tremendously out of date.

Has anyone else sent Sony Music, Columbia Records, or Legacy Recordings an email, twitter message, or Instagram DM or message requesting them to update Celine's RIAA certifications yet?
It would be a wonderful present if Celine's RIAA Certifications were finally updated!!!

The more fans that contact Sony, Columbia, or Legacy Recordings, the more of a chance we have that they will update them sooner
