There are NO WORDS RIP Rene though Celine is a strong woman I dearly hope she takes all the time she needs and doesn't feel NO obligation to come back she should take a hiatus for her and sons to recover from this tragic news. RENE YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED

I was just talking with some people earlier after the passing of Alan Rickman that it usually comes in 3's and I wondered who the third would be. Part of me thought about them but hoped it wouldn't be so. I'd seen articles recently stating he was nearing the end. Even her Christmas special, if you pay attention you can see she is heartbroken and fighting back tears....another sign of the inevitable.
I even said earlier they won't announce anything official until the time actually comes. Had no idea just a few hours later I'd be reading said announcement. I'm still in shock! Even though we knew it was coming.....
My heart breaks for their family. RIP Rene!!

Celine Dion’s manager Aldo Giampaolo: “It was so bad we’re glad God came to get him. He lived a hell on earth for the past year.” RIP #RJNow
Didn't Aldo say a few weeks ago that he was getting better, going on little outings with Pierre Lacroix or whatever? That it takes a long time to recover from the type of treatment he had, but he was getting better? And now he says this? Don't know what to think.

This thread is going to be a lot of repeats, but although we knew it was coming, I am in so much shock right now. Am I the only one who feels unable to listen to her, like it's almost disrespectful to do so? All I'll hear is what/how much she lost, because as we know, Rene is in every note, every word, every line, every breath. I'd love any tips anyone has on how they'll adjust to this, but really, my tears are for her. I know she'll go on because, well, what choice do we have, and well, she says/sings it every night. My Heart Will Go On. But how? We have to come together as a fan family. We have our issues, big and small, our complaints, gripes, wishes, things we hate, things we'd change, and some people on here really get under my skin. But when death comes to part the veils between what we can know and what we must wait to once again experience, it is seriously time to put that stuff away. Anything divisive that can come between us as grieving, loving, compassionate human beings we have to put aside and focus on one another and her. Often, it sadly takes the passing of a loved one to put petty differences aside, to wake up and live our own lives to the fullest, to see what's truly important. If anything, let that be what we take with us from this sad time, and the awareness that thank goodness his pain is over. No more suffering for this courageous soul who fought so hard, gave so much, inspired us beyond belief, taught us the true meaning of a fighter, and gave me personally, the greatest gift of my lifetime. Stay strong, Celine, and rest in peace, Rene! <3

Wow...I am just at UTTER disbelief over the death of Rene. We all knew it was coming, but no one is ever prepared when the time actually comes. I can't imagine how Celine and the boys are feeling! They have an immense amount of emotional support coming from family members and friends, so that makes me feel a lot better about the situation. It's nice to know that Linda and her husband still lives with Rene...and I'm sure other family members are going to their side + Rene's older children from Montreal must be flying into town. Patrick is in town for the show anyways, as well.
I just read the Las Vegas sun article and I am 100% surprised that she will be back for her run of shows in February. I thought she would at least take a break until her shows in June in Paris! This just shows how strong she really is<3 The show will be emotional, that's for sure...

If I was a fan going to Vegas I wouldn't recommend recommend until even after February. I bet they will postpone longer with great reason of course and I hope she does.

I just cannot imagine Celine without Rene. I have come to admire their love story so much over the years it's going to be hard to see her without him. All her songs are just too difficult right now.

I'm glad to hear that her shows on Jan. 16th and 17th are cancelled. I couldn't imagine how she'd get through that show. How she got through the show after her father's death is still beyond me. I truly think she will take the stage in February. I'm sure R.C. and the twins will be there to get Mom through the first show. The fans will be there with her too. Celine's gotten many of us through moments in our lives, and now it's our turn to be there for her. She may not get our individual messages, but I'm sure the love she is feeling now will get back to her somehow. We've been with Celine through all the ups and downs. We've been with her since the beginning, and we will be with her until the very end. Sending out hugs to all of you who are as sad as I am.

Just a few thoughts...
I worked from home today and decided to listen to Celine's french albums on YouTube (something I haven't done in a long time). It was almost like my soul knew something wasn't right because when the news was reported it felt like I already knew
I work for hospice/end of life care and it sounds like Rene maybe had a "rally". It's when a terminal person has extended periods of feeling "good" and improvement prior to death. It's a gift but devastating too because it sometimes makes families believe they are getting better. Whatever the reason, I'm glad Rene was able to have some "good days" toward the end.
I met Celine at Disneyland in October and it was a blessing to see her happy with the kids. We have seen her be strong and wear beautiful dresses but Celine's face has shown so much grief. Look at her recent photos. She's beautiful and engaged...and completely grief stricken. (Here come my tears).
I am so glad that Rene gave Celine their three beautiful children. I've thought about this a lot especially since the twins were born and Rene was diagnosed with cancer. Maybe the universe knew she needed those babies. Rene-Charles still needs mom but is almost grown up. Mama Dion is healthy but not young. And now Rene is gone. Those little boys will be the reason Celine gets out of bed in the morning.
What a sad day.

"He doesn’t stop amazing me. I’m being heard through my interviews, through my songs. This is his time to be heard. This is his way. It’s going to be his way and it’s going to be the way he wants it to be," Dion said in August 2015, during her first show after the hiatus. She looked at the camera: "My love, we love you. Lots of strength tonight. Promise me something. Just enjoy. Just enjoy. Just let it go. We love you."

So, so sad. Rene was such a great man, and the Celine and Rene love story was beautiful to watch -- that genuine respect and affection, the gentleness, the class, the generosity, the way they were so responsive to each other, the way each little touch communicated such love. Une chance qu'on s'a -- Thank goodness they had each other. So sad today.
Rene was, as JJG said, more artist than businessman. He had the capacity to be as mesmerized by Celine after 35 years as he was on the first day. They went to the very top of career success together, but through it all, he cared most for the woman she was and for her happiness.
In January they met (January 1981) and in January they were parted. But not really parted, because Rene will be part of Celine forever. And his children live on.
Sending so much love to Celine and all the family.
10:10 of the below. So heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.

I see this also. I wish she would have just taken off completely. I feel kind of guilty for wanting her back. I really hope she takes all the time she needs and doesn't feel she has to rush back in Feb.
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

RIP Rene.
I strongly believe that the dead is not the end but the continuation of our lives. I know his spirit will be always with them and I hope that he gives Celine the strength she needs right now and makes her shine as an artist more than ever from now on.

Just heard the news and I live here. So I'm a little late.
To Celine-
I too lost my husband to cancer two weeks ago. I know what you have been through, and what it took to stay stoic while trying to stay upbeat in front of him, to dissect what the doctors are telling you, to do the research and converse with them like you are a doctor too. All the while, keeping your home running as smoothly as possible as if nothing terrifying is going on. Just when you think you can manage, you will have a couple of steps backwards. But that's okay, you have to keep telling yourself.... I can do this. You are stronger than you know, and you have sooo many people behind you...beside you, and it front of you to help you over obstacles. Whatever you decide to do with your life from this day forward, I am behind you. Wherever it takes you, I am behind you. Prayers are winging their way across town to you and your family, and to Rene's family. May God bless and keep you.
