Yes, she did - how are people just now picking up on this?  
Because some Sia fan account saw the Rolling Stone article 2 months later and interpreted what they wrote as a duet?
I'm confused...we've known for weeks, so how is this news?

I thought Sia being part of the album was not news to any Celine fan. Sia even tweeted about how amazing "Baby" sounded.

Being a part of the album doesn't mean there's a duet. It could just mean as a writer, or the backing vocals for Poison (or whatever it'll be called). If there is a duet it'll probably be kept as a surprise seeing as Celine could've mentioned a duet with her during the event but just said "a part of"

Likewise. I hope this isn't an album full of "Celine sings Sia"-type tracks - which it may end up being (in style and spirit, if not entirely in Sia-penned songs, given Celine's Sia obsession).
I have no interest in an album that's essentially Ceiline trying to sound like someone else.

100% agree

Celine Dion’s powerful, iconic voice is what made her a household name. And that’s who we want to hear on this album. That’s why Flying On My Own and Courage sound more promising to me so far than the Sia song.

I think the public wants to hear Celine’s stunning tone that is present on Encore un soir & Sans Attendre but has been mostly lacking on her English albums since A New Day Has Come. Bring it back! We want to hear Celine Dion — not that trendy, bedroom “granny” voice when she tries to be something she’s not. She still sings so beautifully as we’ve heard in live performances & on her French records but for some reason she tries to be too trendy on her English albums since One Heart (apart from Miracle which was a different can of worms).

A couple Sia-sounding songs on the album is just fine — but enough with trying to be “cool” when it comes to song selection. As we’ve seen lately by the public’s newfound obsession with her, all she has to do is be true to HERSELF and the album will explode!

In a nutshell...

In my opinion, we just need to hear her beautiful voice as the centerpiece of this new English album. Love songs. Power ballads. Uptempo songs in HER style. Plain & simple.

I don't expect we'll get an album of love songs - or at least not quite the kind we're accustomed to getting from her. I think what we're witnessing is a conscious and deliberate shift from love ballads to empowerment anthems. (Think "Titanium" in their sentiment. Songs like Courage and FOMO already hint at this, as does Ashes.) I think that'll be pretty much the through-line for this album.

I tend to agree with the discussion here (starting at ~5.25, with POL): https://www.cbc.ca/r...ofile-1.5047578  I think she / her team have clued into the fact that the "bright-eyed, bushy-tailed" overt love songs of the '90s are very much passé. So I don't expect anything quite in that genre.

Empowerment anthems sound good to me! As long as she sounds like her own self.

Whitney Houston & Mariah became household names for the exact same kind of songs. No one else on the planet can sing those extremely demanding songs like Celine & Whitney & early days Mariah.

And Celine’s the legendary diva one who’s still got the pipes so bring them on! I’d kill for another To Love You More.

I’m so sick of reading posts that say Celine is “trying to be cool” with the songs she chooses to record. How about we take a minute to consider that she’s recording songs that she likes? I know...it’s a crazy notion. Maybe she wanted to try a different technique with her voice on the songs for LMBTL. Everyone complains that her “artistry is lacking” and then when she steps out of her box, it’s still not good enough. I don’t believe that Celine is “trying to be cool.” I DO believe that she’s choosing songs that she connects to. Whether it be musically, or personally. I say let her be. If Celine wants Sia to write an entire album for her, because she admires Sia’s talent and enjoys her sound; then I say go for it. It’s been said before that she’s not always going to please everyone. Hell, she doesn’t even always please me. But the patronizing comments about what people presume that Celine is doing are just gross. The way some of you speak about her, as if you first hand know what’s going on or why she makes her decisions is just mind numbing.

Where are seeing these posts? I don't believe I've really seen any like that since circa LMBTL era.

And that's the thing with Céline, most of the times she really copies the demo to sound exactly like it.

I would love to have the Sia songs in her own voice, and not the imitation of Sia.

Or it's Celine assuming her fans on social media will know what she’s talking about and she wouldn’t be wrong lol
“Courage” is obvious since it's the title of her new tour but the other one does need more of an explanation.

Exactly my expectations， which is why I am very excited about this album. Even the lone tracks she’s released these past years have been about selfcare and empowerment (Recovering, TSMGO, Ashes).

I think moving away from the huge sweeping love ballads is a wise decision. There might be some love songs, like maybe "Baby," but in general it'll mostly have a theme of inner strength and resilience.

I love LMBTL, and I'm all for Celine experimenting with what type of music she releases or how she sings them. I agree that saying she's trying to be cool isn't an accurate assumption, imo. She's picking songs that she connects to in this stage in her career and life.

That said, I wouldn't want her (nor do I expect her to) replicate Sia's form of singing, or Adele, or LP, or anyone else. If Celine wants Sia to write her an entire album I'm all for it because she's a great writer, but if I want to hear Sia I'd just go listen to her songs. Celine should sound like herself, in whatever new form she wants to sing but I wouldn't want her to try and replicate another singers sound. And I don't think she's doing that.

sidenote: I would love for Celine to co-write with Sia or some of her other songwriters. If she doesn't feel confident enough to write a few songs on her own then co-write them. I wish she were confident about her writing, & if it's not a lack of confidence then idk, but I wish she would write at least one song in each of her future albums.

I'm a big optimist when it comes to Celine's career. I am always tooting her horn and rooting for her and defending her choices. I don't sit on a high horse and act like I know what's best. I adore that she's reinvented herself as a fashion icon, and I've always been an advocate for how she (with Rene) changed the entertainment industry forever by dominating Vegas. I try my best to post positive things on this forum while also voicing my honest opinion.

However -- I've always remained consistent when it comes to what I think about her English albums. In my opinion, her last fantastic English album was in 2002 with A New Day Has Come. Why? Because she sounded like HERSELF from start to finish on that album while still exploring and trying new things. That voice is what made her a household name, and that's what I crave as a fan. I'm ALL ABOUT her experimenting with her voice -- and I think she's done that beautifully on her French albums Encore un soir and Sans Attendre and D'elles. There are some truly lovely moments on LMBTL, TC, and OH. But since 2002 her English albums have felt a bit off for me. They just feel like "this is what's trendy in 2003, 2007, 2013, etc." vs. "this is true to who Celine is".

With that said -- I think this new album will be the best English album we've had in years from Celine. She has taken her time and these songs will all mean something to her. It will be a collage of her emotions since Rene died. I'm hopeful because she sounds like HERSELF on Ashes. She sounds like HERSELF on Recovering. And that's all I'm personally looking for as a fan.

People and other artists should want to imitate CELINE DION, not the other way around. Celine can be far too humble and I want her to OWN her legacy and trademark sound vs trying to be something she's not. We luuuuuurve her because she's one of the greatest voices of all time. If the through-line for this album is a theme of empowerment, hallelujah! That sounds perfect to me. But I will always stand by Celine not needing to try to sound like anyone other than HERSELF.

I think this new album will be VERY personal, whatever style, and that the songs that were sent to her are actually about her and her current life/feels. And that some songs are probably specifically written for her/with her in mind. The songs we already "know" kinda confirm it.... "Flying On My Own", "Courage", the lyrics of the new track in CK...

However it may sound, I think we're getting a special album. And maybe, just maybe, we're finally getting an album which sounds like typical Céline, but also a modern Céline (without trying it too much, like with TC & LMBTL).

I never thought I would read that Celine is trying to be too trendy and too cool (musically speaking). Folks, that's never going to happen. She may sound cooler and trendier than she did on her old albums but that's still behind in terms of coolness. And that's just fine by me.
