i know it is about midnight where i am @ & i need to go to sleep now...

but i am TOO DEPRESSED TO SLEEP!!! i have juat recently lost one of my BESTEST FRIENDS IN THE WHOLE WORLD LAST WEEK... 😥💔 she was ONLY 38 years old (same age as ME,) she had died from complications of the CORONAVIRUS...

yep so for those of you reading this who think the virus is "fake", well it is NOT FAKE, it is 100% REAL!!! & now the children of my friend have NO MOTHER & my friends husband has NO WIFE & is now a SINGLE PARENT, & my friends mother has NO DAUGHTER left!!

well my point is, please LOVE & CHERISH your loved ones, & please DO NOT take any of them for granted!! if you have children, spouses, parents, friends, etc PLEASE HUG THEM & HOLD ONTO THEM TIGHT & CHERISH THEM!!! because nobody knows HOW LONG WE HAVE on this earth... good night everybody!!! 🙏😘

It's been a few YEARS since I have been on this thread, or on the forum period. I'm sorry to break an almost record-holding 3-month silence here! LOL I know even before this nightmare with no end started, I was MIA and times have certainly given me enough time to come back but have decreased my motivation to do so even more! I was 30 effing days away from hearing, (as I am blind I do not see people live), Céline live in Oakland, California last April. "Let me be the first to say", LOL I took it A LOT harder than I should have. Even the biggest die-hards on here would tell me to GET OVER IT! The ONLY, and I do mean ONLY good things about this Hellish experience are that I now have my own apartment, I have for almost 2 years now, so I haven't had to wear a stupid, unnecessary, doesn't do a drop of good, mask in my house! Also, Zoom has become my friend as it has for many of us! LOL One big reason I am back here, though, is to ask if anyone has heard from or seen a member post whose username on the forum is Smash. We used to send PM's to each other for a couple years and when I went to Las Vegas in 2015, I did for her one of the least favorite things most blind people can do... get a sighted person to take a picture of my obviously butt ugly self and send it to her. I sent her a message on her birthday a couple years ago and NEVER heard back from her. Last I chatted with her, she was having some health problems and my brain whose automatic default is to immediately freak out, worries that something awful happened. She was fading as a fan last time we talked, and as hurt as I would be if that was why she couldn't AT LEAST get on here and thank me for the birthday greeting, that would AT LEAST be nice to know. I do not have her personal email address any longer so I cannot reach out outside the forum and my attempts to do so within the forum have gotten me totally, completely ignored. That is NOT the kind of woman I thought she was. She is from South Africa and in her late 60s or early 70s now, so if ANYONE is friends with her on here or can send her a message to let her know Christina from California misses and wonders about her, maybe you'll have better luck than I have! Anyway... I don't know about the rest of you but I HATE all the lockdowns, restrictions, how I have not been able to do pottery for a whole effing year, etc. And although I am probably outnumbered in saying this, I DREADFULLY, HORRIBLY miss Céline during this! One fan friend who will probably call me in the next day or two and faint from the shock of me posting on here, (I think you know who you are!) says Céline misses us, too. I never want her to be in any more suffering than humanly required, so this may make me sound selfish but I hope she does, honestly. I hope those who WANT vaccines can QUICKLY, EASILY, AFFORDABLY get them, and basically, I JUST WANT MY LIFE BACK! That didn't used to be so much to ask, but now that seems to be the equivalent of asking someone to climb freaking Mount Everst! Anyway... enough needless, useless, meaningless rambling out of me! Thank you in advance for ANY help anyone can offer my way about my request, and I hope everyone is as safe, healthy, and, SANE, as possible!

For those who completed their doses for Covid-19 Vaccine. Do you guys know how long the immunity lasts? Is it a year like flu vaccine or only 6 months? Or 3 months?

No one really knows at this point since it's a new virus. They'll get more information as the years go by. Right now, it looks as if people who were infected with Covid and then later got the vaccine, carry an immunity to it within their bone marrow that should give them lifetime immunity. For others, it's looking like it should last about 12 months and then everyone who didn't actually come down with the virus will need a booster, just like the flu virus, as the Covid virus continues to mutate.

But, as I said, it's all guess work right now because the scientific community has nothing like this virus on which to make comparisons. There have been similar coronaviruses in the past decade but none as contagious and deadly as this one.

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone here has had depression and/or attempted suicide? I was diagnosed with MDD almost two years ago, and I attempted suicide last August. I just want to know if there are other people like me. I just want to know that this - depression and suicidal ideation - really will pass. I just want to know if there really is a light at the end of the tunnel?

I was diagnosed with MDD, OCD, and GAD - the trifecta! - 3 years ago. I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling. Know that it's not just you - there are many others. It wasn't until I began speaking about it that I discovered just how many people I knew had been suffering in silence.

Do you have a psychiatrist and a therapist? Are you on anti-depressants? I didn't attempt suicide but I had a plan made and ready. I'm fortunate enough to have really close friends whom I trust and I reached out to them which kept me from following through. The depression lasted a while but we (my psychiatrist and I) finally found the right medication and the right dosage of the right medication - a process that took a couple of years. But once we found that, life got so much better.

I still struggle, and will always struggle with GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) because the only medication that helps is addictive so I have to take it sparingly but depression is much more easily treatable. I hope you find relief very soon.

Thank you for responding. It does help knowing that others out there, though I'm sorry to hear about your own struggles.

I am on medication, and I'm seeing both a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, and while all that does help, it only helps to a certain extent. And talking about it with family and friends also certainly helps, but they can only support and understand up to a certain point. They can't REALLY understand what you're going through.

It's just exhausting - mentally, physically, emotionally. I, of course, want to get better, but I just feel drained from trying all the time. And I'm terrified that this will be a permanent thing. I came off antidepressants a couple of months ago, but I gradually fell into a new crisis, so I'm back on them. I just hope I don't have to rely on them for the rest of my life.

I suppose, as Céline would say: the best is yet to come.

I completely understand how exhausting it is on so many different levels to deal with chronic depression and anxiety. I'm glad you have what I call "a team of mental health professionals" - it's what I call my own - who can help and that you've got friends and family willing to listen.

I would suggest, if you haven't already, sharing your fears about relying on the medication the rest of your life, with all of your mental health professionals. I, personally, have to come the acceptance that I will need this medication forever. There is a chemical balance in my brain, and the anti-depressants help correct that. I, too, as everyone who takes anti-depressants, attempted to come off of it because I was doing so much better. But once I was off them for a few months, the depression came back.

If you're not familiar with the term/concept "Radical Acceptance," I would highly suggest googling it and doing some reading/watching speakers who are experts on it. Tara Brach, in particular, I've found to be very helpful.
