My favorite english Celine album is FIY

YEAH BABY!!!

I also love LTAL... I mean, imagine Céline's career without LTAL... MHWGO, Bee Gees, Pavarotti, Barbra.. The Reason, but still I think FALLING INTO YOU is better.

More rock-oriented... IACBTMN is unbeatable!! And don't forget about ALL BY MYSELF, and SOLA OTRA VEZ for those who live in latin america... CALL THE MAN, RDMH! Plus the english versions from D'eux and beautiful love songs like "I love you", "Dreaming of you" (both magical)

LTAL and TCOML are great with gems like TT, JWA, OOR, MHWGO, WITL,TLYM.
But why the fans hate OH so much. It's a great modern pop album with gems like IDAN, Faith, IHT. I like it more than the sterile ANDHC.

What helped me choose from Let's Talk About Love, Falling Into You, S'il Suffisait D'Aimer and These Are Special Times, is the high note in All By Myself....

So Falling Into You wins for me.... I mean is there any other note as powerful, intense and orgasmic as this one in her discography?

Not really.

Gives me chills every single time.

LOL @ ''Falling Into You'' being voted as her best album. Karaoke covers, repeatitive themes, cheesy lyrics and Celine straining in most high notes.

You B*tch! lollll

Covers? Yes. Karaoke covers?? i don't think so. I don't see any Karaoke in All By Myself, just compare it yourself with Eric Carmen's boring version. Okay maybe with IACBTMN and RDMH sounds similar, but too bad if Jim et Tina's voices couldn't bring these songs alive. Celine Sung Them Back To Life ;-)
Cheezy lyrics? Maybe, but no way cheezier than one of your favorite albums: Let's Talk About Love (which is also filled with covers too btw). You kidding?

Is straining notes bad??  If thats what Celine does in that album, then Bring it on Celine! I WANT MORE STRAINING! LOL

Well, when I'm talking about covers I care about the interpretation (or lack of it). And commercial reception (whether the song is successful or not) proves nothing about that. :) Falling Into You is another Karaoke cover added to It's All Coming Back To Me Now & River Deep-Mountain High. I would never start a Falling Into You VS Let's Talk About Love ''debate'' (cause it would get ugly :P), but since you bring this up, I have to say that the lyrics of Immortality & Where Is The Love are more poetic, in my opinion, than anything in Falling Into You. Morever, Us, which is a love song, has an edge... It is raw, both romantic and realistic, something that is missing from Falling Into You. Let's Talk About Love has covers but none of these were rushed english adaptions of french masterpieces. The lyrics of If That's What It Takes are almost embarrassing when compared to the profound content of Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore. Finally, her singing in Let's Talk About Love >>> her singing in Falling Into You! She was raspy in many parts of Falling Into You, she was pushing her voice which people mistake for power, but in facts her soft, elegant, crystal clear sound in Let's Talk About Love is the ultimate proof of what a skilled vocalist Celine is. A New Day Has Come and especially These Are Special Times are her best sung english albums to date.

Hello dear Luke! :) I have to agree with your observation about "If That's What It Takes". I really don't like it, as well as "I Don't Know". The US and Latin America really missed a jem in "Your Light". I remember one of my students who was from Iceland gave me the European version as a gift, as she knew I loved Celine, and I almost fainted when I saw that track. I literally went o_o!

Yeah, many notes on FIY are strained.
However, singing all notes as openly as Shirley Bassey does would become BORING.
Just listen to her takes on The Power Of Love and All By Myself. Technically really fine, but; BORING compared to Celine's interpretations.

Lets agree to disagree on this one (big time lol).  But l've always put LTAL, TCOML, TAST and FIY on the same level. I personally find her vocal prowess at her peak with FIY. Your karaoke argument doesnt apply to me as I had never heard IACBTMN, RDMH, and FIY until years and years later and only heard them cause i went on youtube. Jim Steinman and Tina Turner are just like Sia for me i.e demo singers loll.

As for A New Day Has Come, the change in her voice to me was drastic. I realized that the 90's era was definitely over with this album release. I love it, but its been a different Celine voice since then. I wonder if its the pregnancy, the age, or retirement. Probably a mix of the 3.

You can tell me I have fish ears, but I don't see any diminishing in her vocals in ANDHC  . I see her voice as good as in FIY or LTAL, and its should be only logical because she came from 2 years of break in which her voice was so rested and pure. But that's my opinion of course ^_^

Thanks for the joke.
In FIY, Celine hits the high notes without using any shortcut. She goes with her full voice, no squeezing, no excess of resonance. And above all, not much post-production, not much echo, autotune and stuff like that.
Anyway, I agree with everything else concerning FIY. Best would have been LTAL with her FIY voice lol.

There's no way of differentiating FIY and LTAL, when it comes to evaluating her voice.. maybe there are different performances, due to different types of songs.
Or could anyone name concrete examples?

ANDHC her voice is less clear, more squeezed and nasal (like in I'm Alive, HYEBIL and At Last), forecasting the 3rd career voice of Celine

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with the vocals on A New Day Has Come. Quite the opposite, actually. I haven't heard one belted note that is pushed in the entire album.

My vote is for Falling Into You.  This is the perfect pop album -- it's one of the few albums where every single song is good, and the amazing ones are among her best ever.  What can compare to it? You've got:

IACBTMN:  Epic, epic song.  This is pure Celine . .dramatic and over-the-top -- but it's supposed to be dramatic and over-the-top, and it works so well. She pulls off this song with such passion, such power, such a gorgeous all-encompassing sound that all you can do is stop and listen even if you'e heard it a million times.  Doesn't hurt that it's arguably her best video ever, too.

Because You Loved Me: Another classic Celine, in a different way -- soaring vocals, beautiful melody, sweet & meaningful message. I know some people find it boring, but it obviously touched millions of people. .it's my special song with my mom.  Celine's delivery is heartfelt, passionate and beautiful.

FIY and Seduces Me: Subtle, sensual songs that reveal a different side of Celine.

Declaration of Love & Make You Happy - fun, energy-infused  up-tempo songs

River-Deep, Mountain High -- energetic, perfect take on a classic

All By Myself: showed off the incredible range of her voice and became a dramatic stage song to make audiences go wild

If That's What It Takes/I Don't Know -- Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're not as good as the French versions, the lyrics don't have JJG's genius with poetry -- but if you take this album as a whole, on it's own, without comparing it to the French versions (if you, like me, listened to the album for years without knowing the French versions) -- they're excellent songs on their own -- beautiful melodies, gorgeous voice, and decent lyrics.  And, even knowing PQTME, Celine still gets me every time with the emotion in her soaring voice as she sings "I will stand like a rock/I will bend til I break" and "Through the wind and the rain/through the smoke and the fire"

Fly -- beautiful, sad, meaningful song . . I always think of it as crying set to song . .and here, the English version is just as good as the French.

Dreamin of You and I Love You - These songs never got a whole lot of attention, but they're so much fun. Beautiful melodies, and, to me, they're among the most fun songs to sing along with in Celine's repertoire.  (Seriously, what could be more fun than joining Celine and singing along in all her intensity   to "If you do (drum, drum, drum), just reach out, and I'll be theee-eeeere" or "You, you gave me faith . When I was fa-aa-aa-lllin' down/you would pick me up, my loooo-ooo-ooove")

I do think there should be a separate vote for French albums; they're so different that it's like comparing apples and oranges.

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with the vocals on A New Day Has Come. Quite the opposite, actually. I haven't heard one belted note that is pushed in the entire album.
Thank you. With this comment, you just proved who the ignorant here is...

Why spending time to read my comments in order to tell who the ignorant is, when you could have easily taken a look at the nearest mirror? :)

And, with all this, I forgot about Call The Man, a dramatic epic ballad almost as good as IACBTMN, though it gets a lot less attention.   This album has SO MANY amazing songs.
