Although TCOML remains my favorite album of hers, I'm also amazed by many others from her discography:

· C'est Pour Toi: I mean, what a fine work! Eddy Marnay really did his job better than ever before here. It might not be a spectacular production, but intimate songs like Pour Vous will never stop amazing me (which, by the way, is a song that she could perfectly introduce in her live shows and dedicate it to her fans, but anyway...). The title track is also a powerhouse ballad to me, as well as the epic C'est Pour Vivre. Overall, this album is pure poetry to me.

· Dion Chante Plamondon: Can't consider it one of her best albums, but can't also deny its brightness. To me, this is one of the albums that showcase her performing skill at their best. She should have gone on tour with this album, it could perfectly have been taken to the stage as a musical, her own version of Starmania. Such a shame that the song Oxygene was cut from 'À l'Olympia'...

· D'eux: Definitely her greatest French album. Although many fans consider that 'S'il Suffisait D'aimer' was an improved version of this one, I think this is the origin, the beginning of the collaboration between JJG and Celine, which makes it their purest collaboration so far. A sacred album to me, unfortunately, she's performing certain tracks from it way too often in her live shows...

· These Are Special Times: What can I tell you about this... This album has definitely become part of the lives of all the fans by now. Who doesn't play it out loud between late December and mid-January? This album brings me back some great memories from the past few years, and I'm looking forward to Christmas to give it another round of listenings!

· A New Day Has Come: I couldn't agree more with Javito. This was definitely the biggest comeback of her career. For the very firs time in her discography, this album features more mid-tempo tracks than ballads, and that's one of the things that make it unique. For a bigger description, go above and read Jav's post! :P

· 1 Fille & 4 Types: One of her most underrated works. If it hadn't been for Vegas, she could have gone on an acoustic tour with this album, but no... -_-

· Sans Attendre: The creator of the thread is right, this album is already almost a year old now, and we can talk about it with a certain perspective. With the release of this album in late 2012, she gave me another big reason to be proud of her: how consistent and solid her French albums are. Thank God, this time the album's quality translated into commercial success.

I voted fo Sans Attendre, i don't know maybe it's because the two previous album (d'elles & taking chances) i don't like so when i got this CD it feels like "my Celine" has comeback. Even i dont like the duets, i still really enjoy this album. In fact this is the only recent album that i could enjoy playing the entire album. I have bought a few of other artist cd but not a single one i could enjoy an entire album except this one from Celine.

Seeing a list of her albums always amazes me how many albums she has released already in her career. There's a lot to choose from  But let's hope there are many more albums to come  I think she still has to show many more with her voice, trying different styles and genres of music she has barely touched. She just has to find them.

If I had known I would have also voted for a french favourite album lol. It's not fair to include all the english and french albums to pick a favourite because her english career and her french career are way too different ^_^

Well, it's fair, separating the French and English albums would be a different poll. For this instance I wanted you to ask to choose her best album. It's ONE artist with ONE discography.

I have a question. Incognito is an amazing album that I believe would get a few votes if it had been included in the survey. ;)

I know the survey says from Unison to... but is there any reason you decided to start with that? Just curious. :)

I understand this is highly subjective; there are many reasons to disagree with me.. However, I chose to exclude Incognito because I believe it represents the end of her 1980's (and less mature) career. I consider Incognito as an early album, other than the 'Unison onwards discography'. Also: they recorded the album with lesser budgets and before she had worked with Foster and learned English etc. Incognito was before the mayor international jump.

Would you have chosen Incognito?

Great reviews of these!  I agree....an acoustic tour for 1 Fille & 4 Types would have been awesome.  I wish she'd perform more songs from this album live, too.

Oh okay, thanks for the answer! I'm OK with your points which I respect; I was just curious about it. And you're right about the subjectivity. For example, "That's The Way It Is,""Faith," and "Right In Front Of You" are probably my favorite songs, and they are not in my favorite album as a whole, which is FIY.

No, I wouldn't have chosen it, but it's probably Top 10. :P

Yeah, tnx, I guess an album is more than just a collection of songs.
She even says so at one of the latest interviews, like there's a strategy of building up songs etc..
So, the album is an art work in itself. right?

Indeed, but as long as the album tracklist is well put together -_- That's why I think coherence and cohesion in an album tracklist is of the utmost importance, to get to the point of having an album as a "favourie" on the whole and not resorting to songs spread here and there in different albums. Something that few Celine albums can say by the way, and that's what I fear of "Loved Me Back To Life", the "Blender album" like I call it. I hope that when we listen if from start to end, it all works together and does not look as if they picked songs from different albums and mixed them here in a random kind of mixture :innocent:

Absolutely. Coherence and cohesion: excellent words. An album that you can listen from beginning to end, without having to skip any (or not many) songs is what a fan ultimately looks for in their favorite artist, but some fail in their attempts. Luckily, Celine has offered a lot of those rewards.

I agree of course! And to come back to an earlier post of yours, her French albums are indeed different (having more of a coherent concept).

I get what you're saying... but I have to disagree :lmao:

Yes Incognito was released late 80's, but it was released after a big break when the introduced Céline as a young woman... no longer the child she was. She's not singing about childern topics but about having sex, about relationships and about passion... it marks the beginning of her adolescent career...

I would not haven chosen it... but it would be high on my list, together with Unison ;)

I found this ranking from the wonderful Chuck Taylor and what he thought his Top 4 albums were, so I thought it would be interesting to read his opinions. This is from February 22, 2008, as published on Billboard Magazine:

Great selections. :)

I think neglecting to put her 1980s albums is a bad decision. I know for a fact that most people here have never listened to them and judge them before they can listen to it. Her work in the 1980s was high quality stuff, much better than some of the crap she pumps out today. They have real themes, gorgeous melodies, and strong lyrics.

Couldn't agree more Alex, but remember that its your beloved Céline the first who neglected those albums once she started her english career -_-. Maybe if she had cared enough to sing some of those early songs in her concerts, her fans would know better that material. It's nice that she has named one of her sons after Eddy Marnay, but some recognition in her splendorous Vegas concerts and tours with a medley of her early french songs here and there would have been nice to watch. It hurts to see she had time to arrange medleys for Michael Jackson and Queen -people with whom she had not even sang and in some cases she didn't met nor worked with- and she didn't do the same with the man who wrote her up to 7 albums and was a key person in her ascension to the stardom in Canada and France. At least for the french legs of her tours. Just saying.

LOL @ ''Falling Into You'' being voted as her best album. Karaoke covers, repeatitive themes, cheesy lyrics and Celine straining in most high notes.

Next!

My favorite albums would be ''Let's Talk About Love'', ''A New Day Has Come'', ''Sans Attendre'', ''D'elles''...

Her best album to date would be ''S'il Suffisait D'aimer'' though. Such a poetically written masterpiece!

I have to agree with Alex, I myself expected all Celine albums to be listed here.

Maybe encourage people to listen to the albums for some times, then organize a second poll - also to include LMBTL when it's is out a while.
Also: besides YouTube perhaps, these albums are hard to purchase. This poll is also about albums that were introduced globally.
Surely, the caesurae is subjective, though it's equally arguable the pre-Unison albums are of another order.

I found this ranking from the wonderful Chuck Taylor and what he thought his Top 4 albums were, so I thought it would be interesting to read his opinions. This is from February 22, 2008, as published on Billboard Magazine:

Seems Falling Into You is winning this competition, with SISDA coming close.
Quite apparent LTAL gained this little votes..
