Exactly, that was the point I was trying to make in my original post in this thread also.

We'd all love it if she sung one of her own songs instead but the fact is they've made the decision to remove the Jackson songs and replace them with a modern pop song. I don't see the issue.

you know, I had a friend here , some time ago and I showed him parts of Celine's Vegas show. And I said; what do you think about it? ( he is not a fan of Celine at all ) Well, he sing a bit along with the bond medley and some other songs. But he said, it's kind of okay, but the original songs by the original artist are way better, I rather hear Shirley Bassey singing this ( Bond). And he asked me, why does she cover all these songs? Doesn't she have songs of her own? why soo much covers?

There is an enormous difference between a tribute and a cover/interpreting a song you love. The MJ tribute was all about MJ. I doubt there will be an Adele story and all of that, haha! I am excited to hear how Celine will perform this recent relevant and faster song. And as Celine Fan 77 said before, it's true that you can't please everybody, but hopefully it will be a nice change. I feel like this is a Celinesque risk. Something new for her- and I love the idea and that there is a change at all

Yes. Your friend represents the entire non-Celine fanbase. All hail him!     Nevermind the fact that the new show's covers are one part of why it got the best critic's reviews of her career and many non fans' reviews list the unexpected covers as highlights

well that is your opinion. But you have to admit that this Vegas show is just one bunch of covers and has nothing Celine in it, yes just a few songs. And if they all like it, they don't represent the whole audience of Celine Dion, and no my friend does not represent the whole non-Celine audience either.  And about the songs I mentioned, there are enough songs she could choose to bring in the show, instead of all those covers from other artists.

So no more Michael Jackson medley... That's kind of a big chunk of time to replace with just one song.. I hope this means we get a full length version of another song or two to make up for the time. It'll be good to hear her sing an Adele song but I'm curious to see how it'll fit with transitions etc

Well, the fact that she's doing all these covers doesn't seem to be hurting ticket sales.

In all seriousness, some of the covers are the best songs in the show! Namely: Mr. Paganini, At Seventeen and Ne me quittee pas.

I'm actually really excited to hear her sing "Rolling in the Deep" as well.

Not impressed as I can't stand adele or her music... And to get rid of the mj tribute for it is stupid. This song could have replaced another cover in the show but like some have said it leaves space for another song so I hope she adds a rare one of her own as she had plenty!!!

I think it's a brilliant move.  Look, everybody I know from Grandmothers to my own 60 year old mom love ADELE's Rolling in the Deep.....someone like you etc.  And if there's one Diva who has the voice to sing it, it's s Celine.  And for any 'younger' audience members, they will love it.  You can't go wrong.  MJ tribute sounded great, but I think this is fresh and new and BRILLIANT!

I agree with all you said! the MJ tribute was nice, but it had its run. PLUS if she were to do tribute, the only fitting song is Immortality IMO!!


BUT I see it positively... if she's really into Adele that much, and she likes the new song(s) of her and her producer for Céline's album so much, then hopefully by the end of the year that will replace Rolling in the Deep!

Of all songs they're replacing the Jackson Medley? I thought most people adored it. It was very well done.  A beautiful tribute.  The lights, the stools, it seemed to unite the audience.

If anything, replace the LCMM/RDMH medley.  RDMH reached its height in AND. Ever since it's been a disappointment.  LCMM, enough said.

Agreed.  I was looking forward to seeing the MJ tribute again this weekend, so I'm pretty bummed.  I really truly adored that part of the show.  I'm bringing my husband to the show for the first time, and funny enough... he can't stand Adele.  This will be interesting.

Hope that isn't the only change... The MJ medley was part of a whole block including the cello intro. Replacing about 10 minutes worth of music for only 1 song (3-4 mins)...hmm there's got to be more changes..
