The new Annie album should be out later this year.  Probably sometime in August.  I can't wait to see what's she's got for us.  Bare was great, but it took some warming to.  Diva is probably my favorite.

Her stuff with the Eurythmics is also awesome.  I've got most of the remasters they've released.  I think i still have a few more I need to pick up though.

I hope she releases a DVD of her solo videos soon.  The Live in Central Park DVD has some, and so does the Diva DVD, but a few are missing.

Ok, i went today to music store to buy new Alicia Keys album, and i saw this Annie Lennox album, i thought what a hell and skipped Alicia and i bought Annie. Next time Alicia  :D

Well, i listened Annie's album, and what can say, its pure art, my god i love her so much, when u listen her albums u live and feel her songs with her, and same i just felt after only 1st time listening Songs Of Mass Destruction. It's fantastic, fantastic every song, great vocal, i love her style to sing all her back vocals herself. Well, every good music lover should get this album, because its simply brilliant!

Sorry, if this album was discussed before, but i had to share with my current emotions at this moment

Real talent! real song writer!

Annie was on "Taratata" not long ago. She performed "Dark Road" live. I don't know but I was quite underwhelmed. Standing O, though.

Isn't it interesting how some singers voices just "do it for ya."  I don't doubt her talent at all but I just don't get her voice in the slightest.  I recognize her ability, but she just does nothing for me.  I like about 3 or her songs, not even enough to repeate them but this album has gotten a lot of great reviews!  I think she's one who's always went for quality over quantity.  From what I understand her albums are fairly short and there's only been 4 or 5 solo albums.

I like Annie Lennox, but my favorite stuff of hers is when she was in The Eurythmics with Dave Stewart. I still think her style and videos from back then were ahead of their time. :thumbsup2:

i agree with this! its her only 4th studio solo album since 1992. but better to go quality over quantity like her than Mariah with her crap every year!

Few artists have imagined a body of work that is at once as intimate and universal as the one created by Annie Lennox. She is a peerless singer, writer and performer who has courageously channeled her personal joys and sorrows into her soulful music. In turn, her songs form the soundtrack of our collective lives.

Now, for the first time, the greatest hits from the most successful female British artist in pop music history are available on The Annie Lennox Collection. This 14-song retrospective brings together her finest solo work and two new songs available exclusively on this release.

For Lennox, handpicking the songs for the collection meant creating something wonderful for her fans, like a perfect new dish made from their favorite ingredients:  “You take selected cuts and there’s this new menu,” she says. “It’s like delivering a meal. It’s for people who love my music and want the choice cuts.”

And what cuts they are. Spanning 15 years, The Annie Lennox Collection includes hits from her four top-selling solo albums Diva (1992), Medusa (1995), Bare (2003) and last year’s highly praised Songs of Mass Destruction. The timeless music selected for this collection uniquely reflects the essence of the singer’s instantly recognizable brand of soul music on tracks like “Why,” “Walking on Broken Glass” and “No More ‘I Love You’s’” — a song that earned Lennox one of her four Grammys.

Reflecting on her song canon, Lennox self-deprecatingly says, “They’re aging well… Like me! I only ever wanted to create inspirational music. That’s It.

On a more serious note, the intelligent, insightful tunes reflect Lennox’s belief in the transcendent nature of music. “I’m fairly grounded as a human being, but there’s another part of me that engages with the potentiality of music, melody, colour and sound, and “I’m profoundly grateful to have been able to express myself through this exquisite medium,” she says.

In her 26-year career, both as a member of the groundbreaking Eurythmics and as a solo artist, the Scottish lass born on Christmas Day has amassed sales of more than 78 million albums worldwide. Her towering achievements also include 34 hit singles, four Grammy Awards, 11 Brit Awards and five Ivor Novello Awards. The superstar has also won an Academy Award and two Golden Globes.

As brilliant as her work with her Eurythmics partner Dave Stewart was, her solo work has been transformative for both Lennox and her legion of listeners. It’s daunting to think that it may have never happened. She and Stewart started a protracted hiatus in 1990. Lennox became somewhat tired of the roller coaster.” I just needed a break,” she says, “ and I wanted to have a family.”  The notion of a solo record was borne out of curiosity more than anything else. “I’d always worked exclusively with Dave, and I didn’t see how I could do anything without him,” she recalls. “I lacked the courage or the confidence. But then, I just wanted to see if I could do it on my own.” The result was the stunningly beautiful “Diva.”

Over the years, Lennox has increasingly divided her time between her music and her humanitarian efforts. “I’ve really put my foot down on the pedal recently,” she says. “My position is very unusual. You have experts in the field and then you have the person in the streets, who might not know too much about the issues, and then you have someone like me in the middle, who can be the connecting LINK through my involvement. I can use my platform to campaign for the greater good.”

The dynamic activist recently received the Red Cross Services to Humanity Award, was named the 2008 Glamour Inspirational Woman of the Year and performed with the agape choir for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebration this summer in London She is currently attending the international aids conference in Mexico City as an Oxfam ambassador, Lennox will again take the stage for a very special cause September 9 in New York and September 21 At The Royal Albert Hall for “ Peace One Day”.

and theres more....

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANNIE LENNOX CELEBRATES
SOLO HITS WITH FIRST-EVER RETROSPECTIVE

TWO NEW SONGS AND DELUXE CD/DVD EDITION AVAILABLE
EXCLUSIVELY WITH THIS COLLECTION

(Los Angeles – CA) The Annie Lennox Collection paints a vivid portrait in song of the most successful female British artist in pop music history. Available September 16 from Arista Records, this 14-song retrospective brings together the acclaimed artist’s finest solo work on a single disc for the first time, and includes a pair of new songs available exclusively with this release.

“It seems like the time has come to release the Collection this year,” Lennox says of her first best-of set. “I’m very proud of these songs. They are timeless and have become ‘classics’ in their own right.”

Spanning 15 years, The Annie Lennox Collection also available in a Deluxe CD/DVD edition includes hits from her four top-selling solo albums Diva (1992), Medusa (1995), Bare (2003) and last year’s highly praised Songs of Mass Destruction. The timeless music selected for this collection uniquely reflects the essence of the singer’s instantly recognizable brand of soul music on tracks like “Why,” “Walking on Broken Glass” and “No More ‘I Love You’s’” — a song that earned Lennox one of her four Grammys.

The retrospective also includes two new songs that Lennox recorded specially for this collection. The first, “Pattern of My Life,” was written by Tom Chaplin of Keane, who allowed Lennox to change the title of his song for this collection. The second is a cover of “Shining Light,” a song originally recorded by Ash in 2001. “I first discovered this song by Ash about six years ago, and I simply couldn’t stop listening to it. It’s so exultant that it virtually shimmers,” Lennox says.

Among the many highlights on The Annie Lennox Collection is “Sing,” a song that references The SING Campaign, a humanitarian organization Lennox founded to raise awareness and support for the AIDS/HIV pandemic in Africa. “We’re still in the early stages, but this is a lifelong commitment on my part,” Lennox says. “I’m coming out from behind my singing voice to express myself in broader terms and help give a voice to those who don’t have the same opportunities as I do.”

A dynamic activist, Lennox recently received the Red Cross Services to Humanity Award, was named the 2008 Glamour Inspirational Woman of the Year and sang for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebration this summer in London. Lennox will again take the stage for a very special cause September 9 in New York and September 21 in London, when she performs as part of Peace One Day’s concerts to herald the organization’s goal of fostering non-violence.

Why not? She's a legend. This is her first greatest hits album as a solo artist. Don't you know there are how many greatest hits from Eurythmics?

And this album is to finish her contract with SONYBMG. It's good for her.

the new song "Pattern of my life" is a masterpiece! It's originally a b-side of Keane called Closer now but Ms. Lennox makes it her own.
So far the best song 2009! great!

I think they remastered all the old tracks. Most of them sound amazing. Much better than the cheap edits in "My Love".
The two new tracks sound like rejected songs from "Songs of Mass Destruction". They are not bad. But not amazing at first listen. I'll listen more times.

Sorry if there was an Annie Lennox thread already (I didn't find any). Couldn't wait to share this great news here for the Annie Lennox fans here :w00t: This was just posted today in her official website and facebook page:

New Album - “A Christmas Cornucopia” In-Stores on November 22, 2010

Internationally renowned recording artist, songwriter and musician Annie Lennox has signed with Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, for a long-term worldwide recording agreement.

As one of the world’s most successful and critically-acclaimed British female artists in pop music history, Ms. Lennox will release her brand new album, “A Christmas Cornucopia,” on November 22nd through Island Records UK and Decca Records in the US and the rest of the world.

The album features Ms. Lennox’s unique and personal interpretations of some of her favorite Christmas carols as well as a completely new, and wonderful, original composition entitled, “Universal Child.”

“I’m absolutely delighted to be working with Island Records on my upcoming recording,” stated Ms. Lennox. “This album is something I’ve wanted to do for many years. It’s a true labour of love, and I feel very fortunate to be in partnership with such a cutting edge team, especially when I’m at a stage in my creativity when I want to diversify, and pursue my passion in my own individual way. I’ve never been part of a “mold,” and Island are really supportive and appreciative of where I’m coming from. I want to make timeless music that people will love in many years to come...and I’d like to think that “A Christmas Cornucopia” is going to be of those recordings.”

“There are precious few artists who redefine the boundaries of popular music like Annie,” said Lucian Grainge, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Universal Music Group. “And we are delighted to be part of the next exciting chapter in her already storied career.”

“Annie Lennox is one of world’s greatest singers,” commented Ms. Lennox’s manager Simon Fuller. “She has sold tens of millions of albums, celebrated countless hit singles and won every major award and honour there is to receive. However there is one thing she has always wanted to do and now it's about to happen. Annie has always wanted to record an album of Christmas songs and to see this finally come to fruition is very special. Annie and I are thrilled to now be working with Island Records and all my friends at Universal around the world. We are looking forward very much to a long, happy and successful partnership for many years to come.”

“The album Annie has recorded is timeless and inspiring, a very special showcase for her extraordinary voice," added Universal Music UK chairman David Joseph. "This record is just the start of what feels like a natural, and very exciting, new partnership between Annie and Island Records.”

New Press Image: Annie Lennox - A Christmas Cornucopia - Released 22.11.10

Since it seems we won't have a new Céline Dion album before the end of this year, a Christmas album from Annie Lennox will make my holidays! It won't get any better next to the fireplace these holydays!! :in_love: :in_love: :in_love:
