This does not bode well. It is laughable the amount of people who think getting rid of the Hollywood theme is a good thing for the show.

The most likely reason for the cancelling of the movie songs concept is because Celine is too knackered from being a full time mom to 3 kids, to put new untested material into the show. The tired old playlist is now going to be followed, albeit with the added bonus of a live orchestra acompaniment and some modern effects.

There will be one or 2 interesting things thrown in there but artistically this development is a big step backwards.

If the Hollywood theme is 100% scrapped, you have to think about people who have bought tickets under the impression that this show was supposed to be her biggest hits ''and a tribute to Hollywood'', like advertised on the show website and on Oprah at the time that tickets were first released...

Will some people ask for a refund?

The media will have a field day if it is true... Celine false advertising, Celine can't deliver, Dion can't go on, and on...... these are the headlines I can see cropping up if it is true!

Yeah I concur.......I believe the Hollywood thing had potential. It's easy to judge something when you haven't seen the end result yet, but it could've been done amazingly. And at least the show had a concept, which I reckon is necessary for a show in Vegas (and definately for Céline as she's already had a show for 5 years there). Now we can look forward to hear greatest hits (again) and the odd "new" song.... We'll see

I was happy with this news, more singing LCMM not again, this song ja ta our sick, arrives, and the songs were written for this show by Indian composer that I can not remember the name.

Don't forget that for 75% of fans probably go to a Celine concert to hear her sing her hits. There are 9 songs that were performed in AND and TCTW (IDAN, TPOL, IACBTMN, BYLM, TLYM, IA, LCCM, RDMH, MHWGO). That means the other half of the setlist could be hits we haven't heard for a long time...

It´s true, it ´s not fair because they promoted show with hollywood tribute songs. So they could wait until they show details. But in february they obviuosly believe that it will be with hollywood songs. But from february things changed and the most important is that Céline didn´t cancell  all show after birth of twins.

That'll make for another boring live album if it's all a rehash of the last tours.  

People are really overreacting.  We all had the feeling that this show would be a continuation of every other tour she's had.  I'd frankly rather have her perform the same exact songs as on the UNISON tour----at least those would seem fresh for her repertoire.

People aren't going to demand their tickets to be refunded for them abandoning the Hollywood theme---Tim's right.  People are there to hear the same old songs over and over  (if you sing ATW again Celine, I might stab my leg.  It was cute in 1999).

I'm going to btich and moan too about having to hear LCMM one more time, but as soon as the curtain rises I know I'll have that beautiful feeling of seeing Celine again.  I'll get over it, and then *CENSORED* later when the beautiful feelings have faded.

so funny that the ones who complained about this whole hollywood thing, are really happy...
just DONT complain in march that celine is singing only her old songs ;-)

Thats why the 'concept' wheter it's movie songs, dance, jazz whatever, good for an show in Vegas, and for us, we get some new songs ;-)

But i'll guess we just have to wait and see what's happen. If they read this forum and if that's the reason why they canceld the whole movie thing, then i think we get some never sung before or that often songs from Celine ;-)
In a few weeks we get more and more inside news about this show, so just wait and see ;-)

But IF it's an greatest hits show, i will thank some people here for spending my money on something i've heard enough ;-)

That's nice and all but these songs are 'made' into her biggest hits while not all of them were... songs like

BATB
IYAMT
Immortality
TTWII
ANHDC

where bigger hits than TLYM, IDAN or IA and RDMH (not even a single)

I just hope we get to see a big variation of hits and not the same old shortened versions... I'd rather have BYLM and IACBTMN in full than hear TLYM for the zillionth time... Let's just pray they'll make the right decisions...

But you're totally right... when the curtain goes up I'll be in Céline heaven! Only after the show I'll say; damn those same old facking songs!

It's strange how this show is turning out to be the total opposite of "A New Day..."

With that show they couldn't wait to share all of the details of the show with the media; the techincal aspects, the costs of the effects, Dragone's involvement, the length of the show, the fact Celine's audience would be coming to her.

This show seems to have a total secrecy to it. Aside from the orchestra involvement we know NOTHING about this show. Is that because they aren't promoting it yet, or is because they just don't know yet.  One suspects it's the latter.

For a show people have already bought tickets for it's more than a little bit worrying.

I think it's the latter too     

But it also took AND 2 to 3 years to finally become the mixture of show/Céline/ songs!

So Barnev also doesn't know why they cancelled the movie theme? I wish we could get more information about what the deal is. Of course they will say that the show will still be amazing, but it is only natural that people will want to know more.

Davey you don't have to convince me!! LOL. Celine could sit on a chair on an empty stage and sing acappela for 2 hours and I'd be there (now THERE'S a concept!!) but for the general publicity and promotion of the show the latest move is a bit worrying is what I meant.

I agree Shaun...I remember with A New day there was promotion everywhere months months months in advance there were all of these details and it was very exciting and you knew basically what you were going to see when you got there....

They  have definitely rushed into this, as I have thought all along.... There may be a very well formatted plan but why keep it sooooooooooooo underwraps? And if there really is no theme or unique aspect to the show other than the orchestra, it worries me about it's success in Las Vegas. A New Day was so cutting edge at the time and fresh and everyone came to see it- not just fans. Now even some of the hardcore fans aren't wanting to come! That's not good! Not a good sign!

I only want her to succeed. I have to admit I am really glad they aren't doing the old Hollywood movies thing anymore. I just don't want the show to be dated and slowwwww and that's the vibe I got from it. I don't want to hear Céline sing other people's songs from before I was born. I want to hear Céline sing her songs or NEW songs centered around something amazing. I don't necessarily want to hear the greatest hits again...I understand they will be there and I will be dancing, but the songs in between could be other "gems" like we;ve discussed here ad nauseum. I definitely don't want TC tour #2 just because I think that would be a bad idea for her team. After the first week and the debut, they want people who have seen the show to talk talk talk about it and sell more tickets, no? We want to fill the Colosseum up every night like before for 3 years or it won't be Céline caliber project! This is the girl who out does herself each time....so....where's the information about how we are going to out-do A New Day...?! People really do need to hear that....Even the ones who  have bought their tickets......

I understand all of your concerns, they are the same as mine. I just want her to do well and one-up A New Day, sell out every show, for her whole contract, make people happy, do something that's never been done before again. Isn't that what they want?

I think they have rushed this too much. I wish they'd take a year longer, let her have some more time with her babies, record brand new material and create a showstopping extravaganza around it...

I would gladly wait for March 2012! I just want her to do well! And if she's going to do a show that takes her away from those precious babies at night, do one that is out of this world!

Totally agree Lindsey. They should have waited another year, recorded an amazing fresh album and build the show around that. It could have been great. Something tells me they are realizing their mistake now that the twins are here. Once again they rushed into something and they can't get out, so they are gonna settle for the easy way out: singing songs she have been singing for the past 10 years.

I don't think their purpose of going back to Vegas is to create something new this time.  I think the old mighty dollar is the driving factor as to why they're going back and for the same reasons they preached about before (family staying in the same spot).

I guess if she doesn't get tired of singing the same songs every night, why change it up if you're still getting people in the door.  Whomever had the idea for TC was brilliant----if only they would have kept with it.

I agree with you. Celine needs to showcase her new material. All of her tours have been to promote albums, and AND promoted ANDHC/OH. This show needs to do the same.

But they could always add some new songs later (after March), like they did with EJTE when 1F4T was released at the end of 2003.
