I stayed at Circus Circus the first time I went to Vegas and I really loved it (great beds). It was rather cheap, but it's a long walk from Caesar's... which helped shed off some 5 kilos in 8 days, which was grrreeat! Also really enjoyed the indoor park. As you can imagine, there are like millions of kids in that hotel, but don't worry, no noise got through into the room, and it was fun and young.
The second time I stayed at The Mirage, got a room overlooking the Vulcano, which was great! It was just a little more expensive than Circus Circus, but not by much, and the hotel looks a lot better. The rooms were pretty much the same and liked The Mirage a lot too.
Considering the shows are during the summer, I'd really look for a hotel with a great pool :giggle: . I only went in November/December 'till now, so I didn't care about that. But when I go this time, which won''t be in 2011, but in 2012, I hope, if not, 2013 for sure, I'll chose based on the pool, since I'm not usually staying in the room too much when I go on holiday. Still, a good bed is truely appreciated after a whole day of walking around...

Yes, I agree that Imperial Palace is very reasonably priced, and the big bonus is that it's right across the street from Caesars Palace.  It is a little run-down compared to some of the other hotels around that area.   Flamingo is nicer, but I've stayed there twice and both times the lineup at Check In was soooooo long - it was about 1 1/2 hours to check in.  In a 2-3 day trip, that was too long.
I think that if I travel again to see Celine I will splurge for Caesars or Bellagio.  What the heck.   :ermm:

well i stayed in monte carol (not sure the spelling) it's alright not bad but like some other hotels it's a little old but overall it's not bad
and the 2nd time end of 2007 i stayed in Venetian it's pretty good i guess cause it's newer!
but i think i would probably stay in like somewhere close to Caesars or so
Courage don't you dare fail me now!

Several hotelchains (MGM / HARRAH'S / WYNN / etc...) does send mails from time to time with some promocodes in it to get lower fares.  I suggest to subscribe to each mailinglist and then you can get offers.  However, if you search google for keywords like promo(tion) code las vegas you'll probably find some.

But it's to soon, since hotels can't be booked more then one year in advance (unless you have some relation with the hotel as a frequent guest, high roller, whale,...)

If we book a group of rooms at Caesars we will get a huge discount.

I would like to make a group booking for the 15th and 16th.
Then I can co-ordinate who stays with who according to country, gender, age or whatever.  Probably 4 per room.
So it could be as cheap as $30 per night per person as long as we have enough people.

Who would like to be on that list?

It means that everyone would be together and all those that have not been to Vegas before would be less confused and have great rooms.

If people are coming earlier or leaving later, they could still get discounts as part of the group.

I am more than happy to arrange this as I have worked in hotels for over 10 years and know how to deal with them.

Sounds good. But we should buy before they raise price for those dates?

I'll think we can arrange that, but maybe you can suggest it in the meeting topic?  We'll try to organize everything in one single topic, otherwise we'll need to search trough all the topics. ;)

Edit: Seems that it was allready said, sorry (wasn't yet decent awake) :)

Don't count me in (I'll stay probably at one of the MGM properties (I have an account with MGM), the Westin or one of the Hiltons (airmiles & points :icon_mrgreen:))

But I do like the idea, it's a great idea...  Actually it's a fantastic idea!  If the price is low enough everyone can stay in a luxurious hotel, Caesar's is a decent place to stay...

Don't know what you think but I think it's best to contact them ASAP regadering this?  Normally you can only book rooms from one year in advance but sometimes they are happy to book them earlier ;)

As I'll be in Vegas for the first time, I'm deffinitely for a sightseeing tour. My husband knows a city a bit as he has already been there some years ago but a decent sightseeing tour would do great, for him too, I guess, hehe! ;)

As for hotel booking... In one hand it would be good to book it as soon as possible but than personally, for the time being, I'm unable how many we'll be. I mean, it can be that I'll go only with my husband but it we won't have any other choice, we'll take our little daughter with us - she'll be 5 than. :) So of course depending on it, we'll book a hotel - with our girl probably that Circus Circus sounds interesting, as Teodora said.
If we go alone, just the 2 of us, I would prefer something closer to Ceasar's.

Jane, great idea as for a group booking! Can't tell yet whether you can count me in or not but still a great idea.
Can you tell me if, in case of group booking, it's also possible to get a double room?

I've already been in contact with Caesars.  They are going to give me a quote this week.
I've asked them for quotes for different amounts of rooms, meals, tours etc.
I'm trying to make this as cheap as possible.
The rooms just needs to be booked now to get the lowest price, but we will need to pay in full, probably 60 or 90 days before we get there.

If there are 2 or 3 of you that want a room just for yourselves (like Barbara), that could be arranged.
We will be paying PER ROOM so you can discuss that amongst yourselves.
I know that during A NEW DAY, there were some fans that had 6 to 8 in a room.  2 downsides: Only one bathroom :D and some have to sleep on the floor.  Hopefully we can avoid that by getting enough people on board so we pay less.

If you are not sure that you will join us, tell me and I will put you on the "maybe" list.

Hey Guys,

Just a for more suggestions for finding hotels cheap-ish.  I scanned through so hopefully I'm not just re-posting what someone else posted, I scanned though, so my apologies in advance if I do (repeat help is better than no help right??).  Whenever I book something I always start with the low-cost booking sites:

www.orbitz.com
www.travelocity.com
www.expedia.com
www.hotels.com
www.kayak.com
www.travelzoo.com

Don't forget to check their deals of the week or whatever they might call it, Vegas is a big tourist scene so there may be special deals on Vegas hotels... the downside to those is that there tends to be details they don't tell you, blackout dates etc, make sure you read the fine print.

Then if I find a hotel that has a good fare that I like, I go to the main hotel website because something the hotel's main site will have deals that the booking sites don't have.  THEN if you feel so compelled, it never hurts to call and talk to a person and just double check there aren't ANY OTHER deals going on, ie book two nights, get a third free... Ya know.  Check if they have reward programs etc.  Sometimes it's a lot of work and can be quite time consuming but sometimes that work pays off with good deals.

The same goes for those booking flights, don't forget to check the main website of the airline you're considering, the airlines are still hurting a bit and so they are still doing really cheap flight deals, those are usually found only on the specific airline's website.  And don't forget the airlines that don't tend to sell to booking sites:

Southwest
Spirit
Jetblue
Allegiant
This is the website for the LAS airport with the airlines that serve it, it's got links to all the airlines:
LAS Airport  You can link to all the main airline sites and check for deals on each site.  Also I work for an airline so if I hear any details about upcoming deals to Vegas I'll be sure to pass the information on.  :)

Don't forget that Vegas has the tram that runs from one end of the strip to the other.  Information on the public transit from the Convention and Visitors Authority can be found HERE.

The Convention and Visitor's Authority website has a lot of info for just about anything Vegas.

There are also shuttle vans that will drive you from the airport to and from your hotel if it's on the strip.  The website with all the shuttle info is HERE.

If I think of anything else, think of more websites I'll drop by and let you guys know (I feel like I'm forgetting something) but for now I think I've listed a good place to start for those who didn't already know.  :)  Happy hunting!   :bye1:

That's excellent! Thank you!!  Orbitz is FABULOUS.  I use them to book many events, as well as hotwire.  I didn't know about the shuttle though, which is great.  :flowers:

I have stayed at The Luxor many times.. and it's been a good experience everytime.. the rates are reasonable priced anywhere from $50-$120 a night.. depending what kind of room you prefer.. the hotel is nice.. Also, the golden nugget in downtown Las Veags is a nice place as well (although it's a long way away from Ceasars) it is the nicest hotel in the downtown area.. Umm.. Excalibur is nice too.. they were remodeling last time i was there so im sure it's nice now and their rates are cheap.. and if people are looking for a very nice hotel for half the price i recomend the South Point hotel/casino.. it's on Las Vegas blvd but a mile or 2 from the rest of the hotels.. BUt yay for vegas talk!!

Cheerfuljne, you're amazing! Count me in! If more people want to book rooms at CP and if it really can be as cheap as $30 or even $40 a night per person. Would the night 14/15th also be included? I think Ill be coming n the 14th (though can't be sure of that yet).

BTW, how long does it take to get to the strip from the LV airport? Are there any buses or some other not too expensive means of transport?

5 minutes.  Taxis are best, because the shuttle takes MUCH longer.

The 14th will be included because a lot of people will arrive on that day.
