I personally would have appreciated a little more "theatrics" to the tribute besides them just standing there singing. Was it supposed to be about the video clip? It was nice, but it just seemed kind of empty with them just standing up there. If I were speaking honestly, I didn't really pay much attention to the video. I was more into the perfomers and it was obvious they would have appreciated the opportunity to move around a little more than they did. Watch Carrie and her bouncing. Celine looked as if she wanted to let loose! Usher was being a show off but he's an entertainer (that getting on the floor thing was a little too much though )  Like someone else said (being biased here) Celine's performance was great. I enjoyed Carrie and Jennifer as well, especially towards the end. I would have like to have seen a little more movement in line with the video instead of them just standing there. Maybe a really toned down version of Celine's AND.

I thought Céline was just as great (in rehearsal and on Grammy night)!   She's very talented of course but especially her voice, stage presence and performances are constant and strong.  I think the first part was even better on Grammy night to be honest. She knows who she is and what she can do but that never translates(for her) in thinking she's a superior human being than others.  That's one thing I've always admired about her. A true artist and performer like her doesn't need to do more than be herself to be great and unique.
The one thing I thought was different from the rehearsal though is that someone should have told Usher this was not a solo performance.    I thought he was a complete show off, not the best attitude for that kind of tribute when sharing a stage with other artists.  And it's not like he has that much to show anyway(especially voice wise) in my opinion.

Is it just me or Céline's mic is always lowered compared to rehearsals(or others are ajust to sound louder)? It's like she gives it all in rehearsal and they're afraid her voice will cover others or something...  Some have not that much voice but it came at us on TV very loudly I thought.  Anyways I've notice CBS(like other channels too) seems to have trouble with airing a high and constant quality sound.

I wonder if I am the only one who is disappointed.. Celine can sing, but it was like she was holding in, and Usher, with his sunglasses on, did as if he was Stevie Wonder with his movements..he wanted to stole the show on its own. Jennifer Hudson has a powerful voice, Smokey Robinson didn't do anything to me..overall..Carrie had too much of a countrysniff in her voice, which didn't it fit in this song..  it was all  missing something, it was a bit messy and to me it offered nothing new to a already great song. And as said, I didn't care for the video, which should have been played on ONE big screen, not screens like this. And there was not much movement either..
It also sounded to me that the backingvocals were still played and the singers sang along with it, therefor I could not hear Celine there, in which she could have let hear her great voice!

Its extensions. I'm a little sad she decided to go with extensions... the wig had been working so perfectly. But you can see in the close-up shots that there is no wig line here. Also, a wig would have had more volume.

indeed! and i liked the taking chances hairdo more, but overall she looked great, great dress.. if you see Beyonce , she had too much how do you call that ..

OMG the pics of Céline and Beyoncé are great, and so are her pics w/ GaGa and Taylor. I can't really understand why are we discussing about Céline's "kneeling" to GaGa either... she was just trying to get in the pic. It's true that GaGa could have stood up, but I guess Céline didn't want her to do that 'cos of GaGa's "clothes". I mean, it was more comfort for Céline to get down than for GaGa to stand up. Just as simple as that. I'm glad Céline doesn't ever think bout what other people could think about her. She's so natural.


As for the performance... well... I got goosebumps of course, it was great in its entirety, even the Usher parts IMO.... maybe because I was focused on Céline's part and didn't pay much attention to the others.

It was featured on every newscast here in Spain! And most important for us fans, Céline was the only artist who was featured while singing, they edited the parts of the rest so it showed only Céline's part. I saw her three times on Tv here today, didn't watch every newscast but I think that at least 5 times they showed Céline on tv, more or less. And the reporters did mention her name on almost all of the channels, so it's grrrreat!

gaga wasnt trying to be rude to Celine. it's just the space was so small and awkward.
Celine had to contort her body to speak with her. and if Gaga stood up it would have been less room and crowded

No the part they heard goes, the lyrics are very hard to hear. Even the original because I had to look it upon several sites and listen to and watch Celine's mouth move during one part so I could actually understand what she was saying and finally got the lyrics right as to what she said. But yeah the part Carrie sings I listened very carefully and she says....

'What about crying whales
(What about us)
We're ravaging the seas'

Not what about Kanye West

I haven't posted in awhile, but OMG....seeing Celine and Carrie perform together was amazing for me! Those two with a studio duet....OMG!!! Those two voices together would be STUNNING! Great performance...I just wish the song did a better job of showcasing BOTH their voices, because it didn't show anywhere NEAR what they're both capable of.

BTW....is there a picture anywhere of Celine and Carrie together? Perferably just those two.
