yes he and Elizabeth were very close, I'm suprised she won't be there. Maybe it's just to hard for her to attend, like emotion wise. I know they said she liked collapsed after hearing he'd died.

I've been wondering this all day... but I don't think she will be. They keep announcing the same people who will perform and she's never been named. She may still attend though, who knows?

on the internet I just read that Elizabeth Taylor and MJ shared such a special emotional band, so she does not want to go to the memorial
and share her feelings with thousands of other people. She want to mourn in private.

I also read Michael will be buried 2 hours before the memorial..to bury him without the media hysteria and mourn in private.
From what I have read so far I don't think Celine will be there today and if she will be there..she certainly is not going to sing.
Maybe she will perform in a live tribute later this year..who knows..

My bets are on no, she won't be there. I think she might wait for the O2 tribute, but then again, I don't know anything haha  :giggle: She could and hopefully will be pregnant with a lil baby then. If she is there tomorrow, I will be pleasantly surprised :) Aaaaaand really sad I didn't register for the chance to win tickets  :sofunny: But then again, the last thing they need at MJs memorial service is a little redhead dancing screaming "Céline!!!! Drove All  night!!!" waving her arms frantically. I'll just do it from my living room, if she's there.
:sofunny: i would totally do the same thing if it happen, everybody would be crying their eyes out and i would be cheering at the top of my lungs!!!
I'll totally do the same thing too! Which is pretty... wrong for a funeral. :X

Being on break for not that long and trying to get pregnant and all, I don't think she needs that kind of stress right now and wouldn't want to go through that anyway at this moment I don't think.  So, invited or not, concert or funeral, I guess she'll choose to stay in front of her TV like the rest of us.

I hope Celine doesn't go. Most celebs go there because they need media attention - as we know Michael Jackson had very few close friends.

The best reaction is from Elizabeth Taylor who said she doesn't want to be part of this public hoopla!!! I totally agree with her, this should not be a circus for fake Hollywood people to go "cry" and show how "sad" they are that MJ has died... And isn't that interesting that Mariah will be there (while she happens to have something new to promote)!!??

And I hope Celine won't be there for that same reason.

No i don't think she'll be there either. More likely later on to pay tribute herself - either during her own show, or at the O2 tribute show (if that happens).

I'll be watching the memorial in a few hours - its on BBC2, C5, and Sky Arts 1 for everyone in the UK.

YEEEAAAAHHHHH for little Shaheen - hope he outshines every other act there (except MJ obviously!!), and especially MC!! :giggle:

I agree with you. I think that it is just ridiculous that the world took something sad like this and turned it into a spectacle. I bet most of these celebrities that are going to be there didn't even care for MJ... They are there to catch some shine... You are right, it is a circus. So yeah, I think it is better for Celine to watch this on her TV like the rest of the world.

I think that it should have just been his actual true friends, like Elizabeth, his family, and the few select other people he had as friends. I know Elizabeth won't be there and I don't blame her, she was so close to him it would be to emotional for her.

Couldn't have said it better. Its a circus, its just for celebs who claim to be "friends" with Michael to get attention. This memorial should be about his fans not what celebs are attending. I was flipping through the channels here trying to find something to watch, this memorial is being shown on no fewer than SIX channels, I think that is a bit much. One or two channels I think would have been fine, did they really need to take over every news channel? There is other news happening in this world besides Michael's death/funeral/memorial.

You know I don't think I heard anything from Brooke Sheilds, wasn't she close to Michael? I've saw photo's of them when he was younger. Did she make a statement or anything about his death?

She is actually   I think that celebrities are fans, too and I think it's okay for them to go to the Memorial if they are truly paying respects and not trying to gain attention like some celebs might do, but some celebs are actually sad and want to go remember his life and pay respects... I mean they are people too... I agree that they are sometimes focusing too much on the celebs attending but I just wanted to say that there are celebs who are huge fans and grew up with his music that aren't going to gain attention or to claim to be friends, but to remember his life and pay respects... That's just my opinion and I do agree with you guys that some celebs might try to get attention, I just wanted to say that they aren't all doing that.

Brooke Shields was reported to have accepted her invitation so she's probably there somewhere. Not sure if she'll be speaking etc. Yeah, her and Michael dated in the early 90's.
Stevie's on at the mo.
Agree about MC - awful at the beginning and end especially.

Yes but if Celne did attend she certainly would not be going for the reasons you said about (as we all know!) so that wouldnt matter. She would be going to show her support but I doubt she will go.
