Who said anything about fake songs? Let me be your soldier is real... they could have encluded that one. And the reason why it bugs me, is that for most song I already paid 2 to 4 times on different albums and they want me to pay for them again, this isn't a fan release, but a 'let squeeze the last dollars out of our nineties milking cow album'. For me, a rerelease of TC with a new version of ML and there will come a time sounds more appealing now

Well Tell Him went number 2 here! So it was a big hit in Europe! I don't get Seduces Me, unless it's the AND version! it was already on TCV1   and I don't get TFTEISYF either, we already had it again on miracle! they should have gone with IWYTNM, at least that was no 1 in Canada and made it into the top 50 here.

I do agree on letting out the older songs!! but INSA was a demo!!!! and TPOTD was already on the collectors series

How can we describe this tracklist? Looks like a tracklist more proper for a singer who is retiring, not for someone who pretends to show that is "taking chances" and someone who says "the best is yet to come" (I wonder WHEN? Will we see it in this life? ).

I wonder what are they waiting for. She has incredible songs waiting to be discovered hidden on her discography, but they don't give them a chance at all

Maybe more than one at Sony would be surprised if they released as a single songs like I Feel Too Much or Water From The Moon today

I wonder if RDMH will be the old version? i'm so used to the Vegas/Tour version right now!

How i wish they would release a dvd with that... video of Only One Road... so darren, michig, if you talk to them ;-) tell them its a good idea to release a dvd with it

Well, I know that Sony will probably care if this album flops. They know that this album could probably get at least 1 or 2 million(2 at the most) sales, so if it sold something like 500 thousand, i'm sure they'd be dissapointed. Just some guesses on the sales I made. I know Celine won't care, because as i've said, she probably has no idea about this album at the moment

they just threw every official single on a cd. not originial at all! they should have encluded these songs, and remove PQTME, RDMH, SM and TP and just call it; My Love, the singles collection

what bugs me the most, and the same problem was with ONCP where that horrible Je lui Dirai followed Vole, that all these songs just seem to be put at random on a cd, like someone who downloads her most famous songs and burns a cd.

I don't really see The Power Of Love following That’s The Way It Is or Pour Que Tu M’Aimes Encore, then  I Drove All Night, then I’m Alive OR One Heart after River Deep Mountain High Falling Into You, You & I same time. Have You Ever Been In Love, The Reason, Seduces Me, or ending the cd with Call The Man, Goodbye’s The Saddest Word, The Prayer... one ticket to sleeping ville please!! the prayer is not an ending of a cd!! it should have been Let's talk about love or In Some Small Way (now THIS is an ESSENTIAL song!!! but of course sony forgot it exists!!

it's like puting your mp3 player on shuffle. on a normal album songs are moves and replace, untill the best order comes out of it. here it's just mixed in a weird, stupid way

This new album is really a waste of our time.  They would have been better off releasing a live CD of the tour and include the new version of My Love with the new track There Comes a Time.  I would have been happier with that.  
BUt we'll wait and see if different countried will have variations of the tracklist.  
I didn't have high hopes for this release and upon seeing the tracklist I did good not to expect lots.

Exactly, "they don't give them a chance at all." The only obvious thing here is what Sony is looking for. Money. But if they really want to earn the big bucks they should listen to the people who will buy this album. When an album is released it will very shortly gain either popularity or the opposite, and I have no doubt this will be successful, but making this album sell more than just what'd expect takes credibility. There is not a chance this album would sell as much as All The Way did back in the 90s, the time has changed, and they need to do the same thing they did back then, release her best work to date. They did that then, (with an exception of her two first English albums) and they need to do that now.

I totally agree, the tracklisting is so random. It's like they at least need to clean it up, such a mess. The Taking Chances Tour tracklisting is great, if it only could be somewhat the same. My Heart Will Go On is a weird opening song to me, but I guess I just have to live with it. It's the ultimate Celine song, and people are listing through the whole CD waiting for that. Why give that away and select it as the first track?

I just want to start by saying. Everyones choice track listing was different. We should try choosing a list from HUNDREDS of different lists....VERY DIFFICULT...They defo had a hard job.

As Stevo said, this is a Best of Album...and will and should include songs that were Hits, in the uk we look at songs that hit the Top  40 and in all greatest hits or best ofs these are the songs that are included. Can I also point out that most Greatest hits dont include New Songs and unreleased songs (IT Defeats the purpose..Kind of).....At least ours does.

I personally love the tracklisting, it has every song I expected on it...I do wish IS was on it because I agree it is one of Celines Best songs. If this is the tracklisting for the UK, here is why they should be released and my opinion on them.

01. My heart will go on - Number 1 - 5th biggest selling single by a female in the UK (39 overall)
02. Think twice - Number 1 - 6th Biggest Selling single by a female in the UK (overall 45th)
03. It's all coming back to me now - Number 3 - Number 1 worldwide
04. A new day has come - Number 7 - Number 1 worldwide
05. Taking chances - Number 40 (downloads only)
06. That's the way it is - Number 12 - Number 1 worldwide
07. The power of love - Number 4 - Number 1 in 5 countries
08. Because you loved me - Number 5 - Top 10 in 13 countries
09. Tell him (with Barbra Streisand) - Number 3 - Top 10 in 12 Countries

All her hits in 2 CD's plus two new songs is a nice compilation of Greatest Hits. What I really don't understand is why they included "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" (it is already in her French compilation and this is an English one), "Alone" (it hasn't been that successful), "Dance With My Father" (recorded for another album)... and they didn't include hits like "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" (her very first hit in English) or "In Some Small Way" (big hit in Canada).

I'm pretty happy with what we're getting, though. I mean, it is a Greatest Hits album, it really MUST have all of Celine's hits and not many new songs or fan favourites. That's why they make the "The Collector's Series" CD's, and I would LOVE the second one to be like this:

Ah yes, I didn't stop on the tracklist order yet   . Nothing more to add, I completely agree. They don't even know how to do a proper tracklist. I can see people screaming and freaking in their cars when listening You And I after FIY

And so that they can throw the CD through the window after realizing that the almost unknown, unplayed and extremely ultra rare track "My Heart Will Go On", barely played and performed by Céline in the last 10 years, its AGAIN included on another album and for they misfortune in first place     

Seriously, the song would have been perfect for the ending, not for the opening. One of the new tracks should be the #1 song on this CD, for example My Love, but not THE LAST

That's not an excuse. It wasn't very hard to realize that 99% of people here were asking for a different tracklist, either popular hits or #1's BUT combined with rare songs that never were single and unreleased songs . Not the classic compilation -we already have All The Way for that-.

And what they give us? A collection of singles through Céline's career. 90% of the tracklist are released singles for radio. On both cd's (if only the 2CD edition would have a different second disc with rare/non single songs, but not even that).
Well done Sony, but then you could have titled this album "My radio songs: the released singles"

You always say Sony don't care about Céline.... but at the same time in another thread you welcome the fact that she was awarded by Sony after selling 7 million albums in Canada and having the most platinum awards there.

I agree, Sony was not supposed to choose what we like, I never thought that, it was not their intention , so let's enjoy our favorite singer!

And seriously, 90 percent of the fans wanted I Surrender to be there. 10 percent wanted One Heart to be there. Yet t hey let One Heart in and leaves out I Surrender.

The great track IAGLTOW, which have been covered moe than one times by other artists, and should truly had been a single instead of the sell out cheap song YAI. YAI gets on the album, IAGLTOW doesn't. Logical???

And yea actually we shouldn't blame sony. We should if any blame is to be, blame the ones who without even liking the crappy non exclusive "special" editions of the rereleases sony gives out. I mean seriously, why should sony even make an effort in a good quality tracklist and exclusive material, when they know they can get away with far less. Some of us will still buy it, n matter how crappy it is. And by sony to continue giving us crappy releases after that. Forgive me but that actually IS logical.

This is a greatest hits album (or best known songs) for the NON Celine fans!! Why don't people get that? The audience for this new album is the same audience that absolutely wants to hear My Heart Will Go On on her tour. And those are the people who will want to buy this essential collection!!  

I would have loved to get some of her Unison hits, but I suspect there is a copyright issue with those songs since they are NEVER released on any best of. I wonder why.  

I personally don't agree about releasing this album now. They should have waited until Celine goes on a break and release a few more singles from Taking Chances - like Fade Away!! But no... I suspect that by the end of 2009/beginning 2010, we will get the Collectors' Version 2 which will include the Japanese song, I Surrender, If I Can Dream (with Elvis - if Sony gets the rights), and other rare songs. That's where the rare songs belong! Not on a best of...

I think anyone who doesn't agree with this album should just not buy it. End of discussion. I really don't understand why everyone flips out. I believe the album cover is beautiful...the track listing is great...they are in a random order because I quite honestly know their chronological order and this plays it up and makes it fun. Sure, I would have liked it to have had more unreleased tracks but, they may be saved for the Taking Chances tour cd, which would make us all want to buy it. If all the unreleased tracks were on this album it would make the tour cd less interesting.


WE all love Celine. Her music has made my rainy days bright and gotten me through the worse that life has thrown at me. If we the fans don't support Celine 100% something is wrong.

Really, a lot of you are so ridiculous about it. I personally am not very excited about the CD but I'll get it as a collector's item...If you don't want it, don't buy it...simple as that. But complaining about something as trivial as the tracklist is both stupid and childish. If you don't want it, don't get it. There's no reason to fill this topic saying the same things that everyone else has said about the tracklist..even quoting it and repeating it as well is really ridiculous and annoying to have to read through to get to everything else that everyone is saying.

"River Deep, Mountain High" is now a song that is associated with Celine---so I'd include it as a hit.

Remember folks, this is "The Essential Collection"----Not a greatest hits album.  It's "Essential songs" that every fan SHOULD own or know.

Water From The Moon was a single in Canada not sure how high it got.

There can't be copyright issue from using songs on the Unison album it's all under Sony

If they put Unison on the USA/Canadian version it needs to be the radio remix
