"Falling into you" did get to Number 1 but it was a while after. "Let's Talk About Love" also entered at No.2 and did enter number 1 again weeks later. Hopefully the same will happen.

If she sells more than 250 000 copies it shows how relevant she really is. Here are some big names now and how there recent albums sold in the first week

Gwen Stefani 243 000
Fergie 150 000 (no 2)
Nelly Furtado 219 000 (no 1)
Ne-yo 251 000 (No 1)
Rhianna 162 000 (No 2)
kelly Clarkson 290 000 (No 2)

All of the above have turned out to be the biggest sellers of the year, so there is nothing to be worry about. Plus look at who was out at the time as celine and were really big and how they have done lately no near as well

Leann Rimmes 76 000
Backstreet Boys (Big Competition back then) 81 000

PS Gwen Stefani has sold 3 million copies worldwide and it only entered TOP 10 in 2 coutries (the tour helped) We are going to get Top 10 everywhere I think, I doubt Alicia will

According to various reports, Alicia Keys new album "As I Am" will debut at #1 next week with nearly 500K copies sold.
Billboard.com is reporting that Keys is tops on Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart.

Numbers suggest that Alicia Keys will debut at #1 next week with just under 500K copies sold, beating Celine Dion with her new album selling around 350K.

NUMBERS HAVE WENT UP ANOTHER 100 000 much higher than most Number 1 debuts this year...although not No1 this is fantastic news and if Alicia only sells 500 000, then we might see Celine No1 WORLDWIDE

when i read ur post, i discovered that it is not sooo bad but, alicia will sell 500K........
hope it will go up to #1 in the upcoming weeks and the world tour later, it will let the album go up again on the charts everywhere

This report says Josh Groban is also outselling Celine and that she may only enter at no3, whats going on! she was on all the big US tv shows this week, where are all the people who went to A New Day? i thought they d all be buying the album, i do hope she at least gets to no2!. Lets see how the rest of the world charts go.

This is just the first day sales nothing to do with the top albums billboard 200 which we will see next week only.

Celine Dion's Taking Chances is up to no.15 on itunes BULGARIA. Which believe me is huge for this country. Hope some of you have heard sth. for this country. It's good ranking ..she is ahead of Alicia with hearly 80 places

Alone is the most popular and downloaded song of the album here...acording to itunes BG.

Can someone explain to me how can Alone be available for download as a single?? I thought a song can only be downloaded as a single if it is released as a single by the record company... Maybe not!

You can buy single tracks from the album. Alone isnt available as a single but a normal track of Taking chances Album.

It's only been 2 days! I pray Celine will debut at #1! But if not it's okay, I will live, lol. I bought the Cd/DVD on the 13th and the Cd/DVD Wal-Mart Edition on the 14th lol. I have no more money for any more editions now!

If you think really how many countries Celine is known in compared to other artists like Alicia
She is defantley going to sell more world wide!
Alicia's album isnt even out here in the UK and even if it was she isnt that big over here!

I think if they released it 2 weeks earlier or later she would have defantley got atleast 3 No.1 debuts world wide
but thats just how it goes,, Releasing The Album at the right time is important!!
Sony obviously didnt think of that    (But hey what do they think about????)

Celine will debut at No.4 here in the UK which is pretty good!!
