Of course you and everyone is welcome on this topic. The only problem for the younger people posting is that they are obviously not going to remember or know about a lot of the things we talk about like typewriters, mood rings, pet rocks, pay phones....but they LOVE to make fun of us!

although I'm not really sure I've ever achieved that. It seems people think about the past or regret it, worry about the future that has not happened but never just live in the moment. (I know...I know, I'm probably being too deep now

This is something I just read so it's VERY current.
What singer songwriter recently (yesterday or today) passed away who wrote one of the Monkees famous songs "Daydream Believer." It's NOT Neil Diamond, he wrote (I think) the similarly titled "I'm a Believer."
The guy himself as a performer had some songs on the radio in the late seventies, maybe early eighties. It's kind of hard because he's not that well known but you probably have heard of the guy.

Did they do the song about Charlie on the MBTA?
"But did he ever return, no he never returned, he'll ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston"

Yeah they're the ones that did that song. I think they have had a lot of different members throughout the years.
That group is sort of, believe it or not, BEFORE our time!
I DO remember a hit song by John Stewart from the early eighties. It was something like "California Gold" or some name like that. It was on the radio a lot.

Suzanne Pleshette - I really enjoyed the Bob Newhart show with her in it!
John Stewart... didn't he do that song with Stevie Nicks (from Fleetwood Mac)?
And I'm even old enough to remember the Kingston Trio!
Bobby Fisher, legendary chess player, died this week, too.

Yeah I guess Bobby Fischer gave up his citizenship to the US from what I read. He was living in Iceland.

What daytime talk show host had an extremely popular show for many years, starting in the seventies up until sometime in the nineties? The person is not seen too much now and the show was originally based out of Chicago (I think) but later came out of NY.
