Hey Brenda... Hey Steve... and anyone who is at least a forty-something... thought we could have a little fun stumbling down memory lane... Steve and I have done this while playing The Person Above Me
so I'll get us started....
I remember when Batman, starring Bruce Wayne and Burt Ward, was on Tuesday and Wednesday nights!

I remember when I watched TV that there were only THREE main channels in the U.S. and they were
FREE. None of this cable/satellite nonsense. Free as TV should be! I think this is stated in the US constitution somewhere: "An ye shall have the inaliable right to have free television in these four score and..." I think it's in Article III.
The channels were CBS, NBC and ABC with maybe a few other local channel but THAT WAS IT. None of these 10,000 mostly useless channels. This was all you got and you accepted it!
Also, if you needed to change channels you actually had to get up out of your couch and go up to the TV and turn a rotary dial on the TV. None of this remote control laziness. Hey you got free exercise when doing this.
But the scariest revelation about TV way back when is that I DO remember having only black and white TV. Color was a new luxury only dreamed about.

PBS was the other station...
and we actually played albums on record players. And when the needle started to wear down, the rocker arm slid across the record and if the record had a scratch in it, then it skipped

I remember one of the weirdest Saturday morning shows ever:
HR Puffenstuff! (Note the name "Puffenstuff" in the '70s and aimed at children?)

Hey! You CAN'T say that!
Don't worry...YOUR time is coming too...although lucky for you it won't be for awhile!
But if I ever make it to eighty or ninety years old I hope to NEVER say this:
"I'm ninety-years young." That expression drives me crazy.

Okay... back to the topic... remember the metal roller skates that attached to your shoes... and had 4 wheels per skate ... 2 in front and 2 in back...

Oh my god! My friend has some of those! I tried them on, stood up and flipped over.

And then Xanadu helped push the roller skate craze along ... I had blue sneaker style roller skates - yeah still the four wheel type --- way before inline skates... unfortunately I could never do much more than go forward and stay upright!!!

I remember when the first cell phones came out and they were so big that it looked like you were carrying a brick around.

Believe it or not, I remember those cell phones.
I was watching 'Friends' and Phoebe had one in her purse.
Rachel was holding her small one, and then comes Phoebe carrying this brick.

I remember when Schwinn made the bicycles with the banana seats... my cousin had one in green... with a hand brake and gear shift. Then Huffy started making them... not as nice or as expensive as the Schwinn bikes.

Great thread
I remember:
TVs with antennas. Watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon in 1969-memorable day!
Did anyone watch Zoom, The Archies or Flipper?
The first year of Saturday Night Live- Killer Bees and Samurai Bar Mitzvah sketches
6 Million Dollar Man with the sound effects, Super Woman...
My parents thought the Schwinn bike with the banana was unsafe so I rode the typical bicycle
The roller skates that needed a key
My room was filled with flower power stickers, ant-Vietnam war slogans , and Peter Max posters-I threw out all of them...found out a few years ago, many of his posters are worth quite a bit of money
