how inaccurate is this movie???
Because you loved me before they got married, then MHWGO..
if you asked me to was sung first, then way after that celine goes to meet david foster for the unison album WTF???
Totally bypassed colour of my love album! bypassed FIY grammy! C&R's wedding, the honeymoon - ending it early to come to the UK for Think Twice, meeting the pope when she was younger.. These are like major points in Celines life!!!
Therese's finding out about celine's crush on rene, after finding the photo under her pillow.. where was that??
Eurovision night.. Proposal scene..
So many bits.. celine has talked about so many times in her interviews, and things you can find from a simple google search of 'celine dion'
yet they still mananged to get facts wrong!!
Man i feel let down!!
Link to the movie on Utube for those taht havent seen it, link is for part 1,there are 10 parts in total.

TORONTO — The CBC is heralding the arrival of two big American game shows and the return of shows like "Sophie" and "Little Mosque on the Prairie" in a fall programming schedule featuring old favourites but lacking much new, Canadian-made fare.
Kirstine Layfield, executive director of network programming for the CBC, says the public broadcaster is bringing viewers a schedule packed with favourites, including the second season of "The Tudors," the steamy drama about the life of Henry VIII. Acting legend Peter O'Toole joins the cast of the show this year as Pope Paul III.
The hit sitcom "Little Mosque on the Prairie" returns for a third season while "The Border" is back for its sophomore kick at the can.
The Alberta-based family drama "Heartland" is also back, as is "Sophie," "Steven and Chris" and "The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos." "Dragon's Den" also returns with 10 new one-hour episodes.
And for the first time, the wildly successful U.S. game show "Jeopardy," hosted by Canadian Alex Trebek, comes to the CBC. "Wheel of Fortune," another American game show juggernaut, will also appear on the public broadcaster for its 26th season.
The network has its own, made-in-Canada quiz show airing this fall: "Test the Nation: Canada, Eh?" brings six teams together including weathercasters, former contestants on "Reach For The Top," new Canadians, members of the Canadian Forces, tour guides and American-Canadians.
Also on the schedule is a new miniseries, "Celine," chronicling the rise to fame of one of the world's biggest pop stars, Celine Dion. Another miniseries, "Everest," tells the story of the first Canadians to climb Mount Everest and stars Jason Priestley and William Shatner.
The CBC has exclusive broadcasting rights for the Beijing Summer Games, set for August.

I'm guessing because maybe they could not get the rights to those songs? What I thought was funny is they show her singing some made up song in the mid eighties that sounds like one of her later songs.

The movie annoyed me. As already said, there were too many things out of place, twisted, and flat out wrong.
Most of the things I found have already been mentioned but a couple of other things I noticed was Celine finding her lucky coin in Rene's office before meeting him and the fact that Rene-Charles was an infant while she was performing in Las Vegas.
It was disappointing that the first movie they make with Celine's name on it claiming to be about her life is almost completely false. It didn't do justice to the person she is. It focused on the wrong areas of her life, which were still wrong, and completely ignored who Celine IS as a person and performer. There seemed to be no connection and that just SUCKS!

Changing the order in which certain facts happened - for me it is basically a lie. It is not a true story, and the average viewer will misunderstand Celine and René, their personality, their motivations etc. I think the makers of the movie could also be sued for this.

I have watched it 4 times so far because I love it as a film. I suggest when watching it with non Celine fans you proceed to point out the inaccuracies because they may get an image of Celine that isn't entirely the truth.

Monarch, Drama, $19.95 DVD, ‘PG’ for thematic material, smoking and brief mild language.
Stars Christine Ghawi, Enrico Colantoni, Peter MacNeill, Jodelle Ferland.
Celine, billed as “The Unauthorized Life Story of Celine Dion,” attempts to chronicle Dion’s rise to fame. It begins with her youth in Quebec, where her working-class family struggled to make ends meet.
Celine’s talent is clear from early on, and with a headstrong and supportive father guiding her, the young girl’s vocals find their way to famed producer Rene Angelil, who begins his plan to make Celine a superstar when she is only 12.
Through family tragedies, numerous obstacles and a tough business atmosphere, the singular-minded Celine begins to attract fans, and by the time she records one of the major songs for the film Beauty and the Beast, Celine enjoys an extremely devoted following.
Soon after, of course, she will become tabloid fodder and marry Angelil. And despite the associated controversy, she ultimately becomes a fabled superstar.
This is a workable, mildly entertaining biopic that Dion and her people had nothing to do with — one of those unauthorized projects that feeds off its potential for controversy. It has caused some, especially for intense Dion fans, who pepper online film message boards with objections to bad facts and mistaken chronology. Those fans know when Dion began singing in English (instead of French), when she married Angelil, etc.
For the less informed, even those who aren’t big fans of Dion’s ultra-powerful voice and sometimes sappy and overwrought lyrics, the story told here still engages. Maybe some intense followers will forgive the alleged factual lapses in deference to its overall tributary tone. – Dan Bennett

Like the reviews say... for those who don't know the facts already it's an interesting film. Myself, I liked it up until If You Ask Me To. I thought it was interesting to watch her childhood. And I thought they did an all right job recreating the end, with the montage of her in LV and the baby rene-charles photo shoot for ANDHC (in the Jupiter house). I thought the actress did a good rep. of Celine -although Laura Landauer would have been so much better
