Lara and Céline sound a lot alike! The first song I ever heard of Lara was "Que Dieu aide les exclus" from the Disney classic "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". (In English performed by Bette Midler). When I heard that song I fell in love with her voice straight away, because she sounded so much like Céline. But now I like her for herself. I've never seen anyone perform with so much passion. I LOVE her!

Although I do not understand French, I really like Si Tu M'aimes.
Though I have the US release of her first self-titled English language album, Lara Fabian, I also own the Latin American version of the album. The Latin American version of the album that was imported for me from Argentina includes 4 songs in Spanish.
Her first release in English is excellent. The songs are very polished. I particularly enjoy You Are My Heart, Adagio, I Will Love Again, You're Not From Here, Love by Grace, and To Love Again. To Love Again is the English language version of Si Tu M'aimes.
Adagio, recorded in English and Italian, is a masterpiece in itself!
Although not recorded and not included in any album so far, Lara's renditions of Caruso and Perdere l'amore in Italian are breathtaking.
Lara also recorded a Portuguese version of Si Tu M'aimes, which is entitled Meu Grande Amor. Her voice sounds even more powerful in that song!

Lara was born on January 9, 1970. So, that would make her 38 years old.
In the early and mid 1990s, she was conquering Quebec, Belgium, and France. It was 1999 when she tried to jump into the diva bandwagon in the US, and Tommy Mottola had promised her a colossal career in American soil... I guess that did not happen.

I dont really compare her and Celine as they have different singing styles.Infact i read that Lara has had classical training that is why her voice is so powerful and comes out the way it does.
I prefer Celine over Lara anyday, but im very open minded with my music.I tend to really love a few songs by certain singers rather than every single song they have ever done, the exceptions being Celine(a given!) and Josh Groban(male celine

Both her English albums are great, although I prefer her first one simply called "Lara Fabian". Beware! Her first French album is also called "Lara Fabian"...
From her French albums I recommend: "Pure" (my favorite) or "9" (her most recent album). If you go for "9" go for the limited edition. It has a bonus dvd with most videoclips of most of the songs! It's really GREAT!
The ultimate DVD she has released is "En toute intimité". All her big French hits plus some covers (including Céline Dion's "Pour que tu m'aimes encore"!)
