Top 100 Most Successful Bands List Unveiled

The Book Of British Hit Singles & Albums has unveiled their annual list of the Top 100 Most Successful Acts Of All Time. No dodgy voting, no committee of ‘music industry experts, no dubious sudden last minute changes, this one is based on actually hits.

The annual Top 100 rates itself as “the most definitive and genuine list of its kind” as it’s based solely on the total number of weeks each contender has spent on the official UK Singles and Albums charts and not on arbitrary voting.

The artists are ordered according to who has spent the most weeks on the combined official UK singles and albums charts, and the list represents more than 50 years of chart music from 1952 to the present day.

Big news this year? Well, Oasis have finally overtaken Status Quo (at 25 and 26 respectively) and surprisingly Queen have moved ahead of The Beatles (with Madonna

very close behind).

The biggest jumps are by Kylie who’s gone up 13 places to 42, and Stereophonics who are the highest rising group in the Top 100, up 13 places to 71. And as rumours of his retirement from music continued to circulate, Eminem has the honour of being the highest new act to enter the chart at 86.

She didn't release an album this year (except "On Ne Change Pas", which is not obviously for UK market), so it is normal that she has lost positions. And yes, she will become lower, not because UK don't like Céline ("Miracle" was #5 there), but because she won't come back there to promote anything anymore. :(

yeah when she will release another english CD i'm sure she wll climb this chart! :D

Well, on the one hand it's quite low for Dion but on the other hand notice that Celine's even higher than Sting, George Michael and Cher! It's actually quite good to be higher than Sting! Though I'm crzy about Sting's songs, his voice... I love him very very much. :)
Love comes to those who believe it...
