Another A New Day Review...

Hey guys...

 

Here is a BRIEF review of my last Vegas trip.

 

We left on Friday, December 2, 2005 at about 5:45am. We (Marisa, Marisa's friend, Marisa's mom and I) had tickets to see Celine that night. By the time we arrived in Vegas it was about 10:00am, we picked up Kelly (Marisa's friend) from the airport and headed to the hotel to check in. After checking in we headed to Caesar's, grabbed a bite to eat, met up with my mom and her boyfriend and headed to the box office. When we got there we all got our tickets for that night and my mom, her boyfriend and I picked up our tickets for Saturdays show as well. After we got our tickets I spent about and 30 minutes trying to sell the extra ticket I had. Finally I gave up for the time being and after Marisa and her mom left to go to a meeting they had, Kelly and I went back to the hotel. We were sitting in the room getting ready to take a little nap before the show and we got a call from one of Marisa's contacts at the box office. He told Kelly that the show was cancelled for that night and to have Marisa call him when she got back from her meeting. Kelly and I immediately thought that he must be joking...he was very casual and almost peppy when he told us the show had been cancelled so we thought he was probably trying to play a joke on Marisa. I got on the phone to call the box office to check on the status of the show and the lady told me that it was cancelled because Celine had came down with a sinus infection. Kelly had flown out from Maryland so of course she was bummed about the cancellation. She called the box office again to see if there were any tickets available for Saturday's show. There was only a few tickets left so we ran over to the colosseum to see if she could get it. She was able to get Orch 4 row GG on the isle. While Kelly was paying for her ticket, Marisa and her mom came up, told us that they had heard the news durring their meeting. We went back to the hotel and Marisa called another of her friends/contacts to make sure it wasn't anything serious. Her friend told her that Celine was ok but she was sick and he would let us know about Saturday. Then we got ready and went back to Casears to do some shopping and grab dinner at the Cheesecake factory.

 

The next day we woke up to the most spectacular view outside our window. We all had the feeling in our stomach that we would be seeing Celine that night. Marisa got a call at about 3:00pm confirming that Celine would be perfroming, and after doing some more shopping Kelly had to take off to a meeting as well and the rest of us went back to the hotel to get ready for the show. We went to Casears again to get something to eat before the show and as we were walking towards Cypress Street Marisa looked to my right and wispered "Stacy...there's Rene" I looked over and saw him walking with Patrick towards Cypress Street as well. I ran towards him and came to a complete stop in the middle of the casino. Marisa was right next to me and I wispered to her "should I ask him???" She told me she didn't know he looked busy talking to Patrick and since I didn't want to be rude and interupt him I let him walk right past. He was literally less than a foot in front of me. If I had put my arm out he would have bumped into me. I didn't realize it at the time but I must have been holding my breath as he passed because I distinctly remember letting out a very deep breath a few seconds later. He went into Cypress Street to talk to some people who were sitting there eating. We walked in right behind him and while we were standing in the middle of a crowd I asked Marisa if the woman they were talking to could have been one of Celine's sisters because she looked very similar to Maman Dion. Marisa said she didn't know and rushed off to find her mom. At that moment I didn't know what to do...I wanted to meet him and get a picture with him but I didn't want to be rude and I definately didn't want to do it alone but there was no one around to ask to go with me so I just let him pass again. I figured that maybe next time I will be able to muster up the nerve to go up to him, or maybe I'll be there with someone who will literally push me to do it so the moment won't pass again. What can I say I'm just a big chicken.

 

We went into the colosseum, got our pictures taken and went to our seats. My mom, her boyfriend and I were in Orch 4 row DD seats 401-403, Marisa was in Orch 4 row AA seat 410 with a friend, Marisa's mom was in Orch 4 row BB seat 413 and Kelly was back in Orch 4 row GG. When the show started I got really excited as usual and grabbed for the tissue. Durring her first speach I could hear that her voice was a little scratchy and I was a little worried that she wouldn't be able to make it through the whole show. As she was singing, she was visibly struggling and seemed a little out of breath. I cheered and screamed as loud as I could as an effort to give her a little encouragement. Durring I'm Alive Marisa, Kelly and I stood the entire song even mimick her moves it as really fun to look around and see only the three of us standing. Celine skipped If I Could and PQTME that night. I was a little disappoited because those are two of my favorites but I figured Celine wasn't feeling well so it was ok. Durring Love Can Move Mountains I was standing on the isle dancing and one of the dancers came up to me and danced with me for a minute then left. After she moved on I looked over and saw one of my favorite people in the entire show, Aaron. He was dancing with a woman on the other side of the isle and so I shouted "Ouuuww" to him. He turned around and came over to me and danced with me for a minute then gave me a big hug and asked it he would see me later. I told him yes and he ran off. On his way back to the stage he stopped by again, put his hand on my back and wispered in my ear "I'll see you later" It was really cute, Aaron is sooo cool, but then again everyone associated with Celine is cool.

 

After MHWGO, Celine received a long standing ovation, almost making her cry. The show ended, we stopped by the sound booth while Kelly talked to a few people she knew and we left. We ended up meeting up with some of the musicians for drinks then went back to the hotel where Kelly went to sleep, I immediately called my boyfriend and Marisa went out to meet up with a friend in Vegas.

 

The next morning I left with my mom and her boyfriend because I really needed to get home so I could study for finals.

 

The trip was very interesting. It was the first time I had a show cancelled on me, the first time I had the nerve to get up and dance without a friend having to grab my arm and force me to do it, the first time I got to dance with some of the dancers, and the first time I got to have drinks with the musicians. everytime I leave I can't wait to start planning my next trip.

Yes she did sing WAWW. She didn't, however, sing If I Could or PQTME . I was actually on the screen durring WAWW...my mom's boyfriend thought it was the coolest thing. lol.
