Koolan Posted December 12, 2004 at 06:43 AM Posted December 12, 2004 at 06:43 AM A heads up to all cell phone users in the US. Starting Jan 1, 2005, all cell phone numbers will be made public to telemarketing firms. So this means as of Jan 1, your cell phone may start ringing off the hook with telemarketers, but unlike your home phone, most of you pay for your incoming calls. These telemarketers will eat up your free minutes and end up costing you money in the long run. According to the National Do Not Call List, you have until Dec. 15th 2004 to get on the national "Do not call list" for cell phones. They said that you need to call 1-888-382-1222 from the cell phone that you wish to have put on the "do not call list" to be put on the list. They also said you can do it online at www.donotcall.gov Tell your buddies, friends and family. Telemarketers are damn annoying, especially when I get a call from them in the early morning Quote Please support the forum by ordering through our Amazon.com referral link below. Clari Posted December 12, 2004 at 08:21 AM Posted December 12, 2004 at 08:21 AM Ugh! I hate them.. and I hate locals calling every number asking for donations too... it's illegal for them to call before 9 am .. but they still do! ThePowerofherDream Posted December 12, 2004 at 10:05 PM Posted December 12, 2004 at 10:05 PM My aunt just sent me this email: Here's the rest of the story as described on the Urban Ledgends website at http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.aspIt explaines that while there will be a directory of cell phone numbers generated by the cell phone companies, your number won't be included unless you request it so registering you cell number on the do not call website isn't necessary to prevent your cell number from being added into the registery. Telemarketers are also prevented from calling cell numbers by FCC regulations. The December 15th deadline for registering on do not call is also bogus. You can register any time....although we registered when it first came out and we still get calls from telemarketers so I guess it's not foolproof. So they aren't allowed to call your cell and you don't need to register. I am on the do not call list for my home phone and i still get telemarkerters! .ItOnlyHurtsWhenIBreathe. Posted December 13, 2004 at 12:19 AM Posted December 13, 2004 at 12:19 AM Aw, that's effed up..no way in hell are they going to waste my minutes! no no no! Ya know, all the telemarketers are from different countries..like india and such..I didn't know that until recently..that's why I can never understand their accents!! Quote Je t'aime Cèline!Alleyse
