How can I be an au-pair in the Us?

Hi everyone, I'm Giada an 18 years old Italian girl!

I love USA since I was a little girl and a year ago I had the chance to take part of an exchange-program and stay for two months in California in an Host-family!

I loved those two months in America! My host-mom also took me to Vegas to see Celine's show !

Last summer I worked for an animation staff doing KIDS CLUB in a beach location in Italy..I was very lucky because I worked in an hotel where there were just English family with children so I had the chance to speak English for the whole summer! At the end of the summer lots of English families asked me if next summer I would like to go in London to work as an au-pair in their families!

I would love to go to London and work with children but I would prefer to be an

au-pair in America! I like England but I definitely prefer the Us!

I want to ask to English or American people from this forum:

 

" Can anyone help me to find an American family or an agency where I can speak to find an Host family and work there as an au-pair during next summer (2006)? "

 

I know that Summer programs exist, I looked for them on the Net but I couldn't ask to anyone for help...I hope someone from this forum can help me!

Well thank you very much but this is a web site for exchange programs...I'm looking for working as an au-pair in the US....

I've been thinking about doing something like that as well and I'm pretty lost as well. lol I know, that there are bunch of aupair website where families are looking for au pairs and au pairs are looking for families, but I have no idea which sites are reliable and which aren't..

What is the aim of the European Youth Portal?

The European Youth Portal is an initiative of the European Commission. It has been suggested by Commission's White Paper "A new impetus for European Youth". Its aim is to give as many young people as possible quick and easy access to relevant youth related information on Europe. The ultimate objective of the portal is to enhance young people's participation in public life and to contribute to their active citizenship. The target group is young people between 15 and 25 years of age. In addition, the portal will cater for the needs of those working with young people.

 

How is the updating of Portal organised?

The Eurodesk network in collaboration with the ERYICA network and the European Youth Card Association is responsible for regularly up-dating the contents of the portal, contribute to its translation and promote the portal. The European Youth Forum is responsible for moderating the discussion forum on the future of Europe. The Commission's Directorate-General for Translation contributes to the translation into the various languages. The Steering Group on the European Youth Portal which is chaired by the Youth unit of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture coordinates the work between the different partners and monitors the contents and the functioning of the Portal.

 

Which languages does the Portal cover?

The European Youth Portal is a multi-lingual portal to give as many young people as possible access to information in their language. Basic information (such as the homepage, pages with a European dimension, introductory pages on themes) will be offered in all official EU languages. More specific information on sub-themes and certain country aspects will be offered only in English and the respective official language of the country.
