VinnyT. Posted November 8, 2005 at 01:07 AM Posted November 8, 2005 at 01:07 AM I did listen their version of Celine's songs I must say they are so talented they seem also real gentlemen but nothing comparing to Celine's versions!Celine is unique!so brilliant PQTME is a great piece of Celine's life/carreer only Celine can sing it! Thanks God they are good looking guys so it helps them very much....in my opinion only good "tenor" voices cant go so far...the world already has Pavarotti,Bocelli,Groban and so on. The only thing I dont understand it's when il divo fans say they dont like celine's music or her voice or her way to sing.....that's very strange to me.....coz i should say what Il Divo does is the extreme form of what Celine is...Dont forget that she is almost a soprano if we talk in terms of kind of voice..that's why they match so good together and Celine's voice can join any tenor/bariton voice as we have seen in the past! One more thing....I really admire their fans they are so happy for their idols they dont care about cover songs or recycled songs.."Ancora"has only 2 inedit tracks and an adaptation the rest are covers and recycled songs......But I didnt see anybody complaing about that!I really appreciate the way they are. BRAVO Il Divo BRAVO their fans! Quote For Exclusive News "Like Us" on Facebook http://i44.tinypic.com/vfjwad.jpg click on the banner
mangust Posted November 8, 2005 at 03:49 AM Posted November 8, 2005 at 03:49 AM Il DIVO fans don't get albums with recycled songs years after years. If they are they will blame it too : They have voices. As I said it's too sweet for my taste but it's ok for some kind of music. But Celine's song is just her. I don't know but not everyone can make good cover of her songs. It can be sung technicaly perfect by others but still they don't have something, something very important is use to be missed Quote Who knows where the road will lead us, only a fool would say... I wanted to cry after I listened to it. I thought it was absolutely awful. BTW, it's an amazing album, I'm gonna buy it. Especially because of their fantastic version of Unchained Melody. CSCfan Posted November 30, 2005 at 10:53 PM Posted November 30, 2005 at 10:53 PM Il Divo branch out on 2nd album By VICTORIA AHEARN TORONTO (CP) - The four members of pop/opera crossover group Il Divo are feeling a lot more independent these days. After all, they hardly ever see the man who put them together in the first place: American Idol judge Simon Cowell. "We talk to him sometimes, once, twice a year, really just to sit down," Paris-born group member Sebastien Izambard said during a recent stop in the city to promote Il Divo's second album, Ancora. "He's too busy, we're too busy and the only reason why he's chosen us is because we have this huge experience behind us." That experience has served the "popera" foursome well, ever since they recorded their debut album as virtual strangers. "We had just met each other literally two days before we started working on our first album," Urs Buhler, the long-haired Swiss tenor, said of the band's first meeting, which was orchestrated by Cowell in December 2003. "We went straight into the studio and started working. We had to create Il Divo." Cowell held international auditions for nearly two years before finding the group, rounded out by baritone Carlos Marin of Madrid and tenor David Miller of San Diego, Calif. Buhler says Cowell laid out his vision for Il Divo - which means "male diva" in Italian - and let the band figure out the rest. "There was a concept: we wanted to sing pop songs, we wanted to have four classical singers," said Buhler, decked out in trademark Il Divo attire of slick suit and tie. "But then we had to make this thing real, and that's what took us so long - just to figure out what voice fits best in what part of which song, you know, how the voices blend together." After four months of recording in several countries, the singers released their first album, a self-titled disc containing an Italian cover of Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart. Now, a mere eight months later, they're basking in a the glow of a World Music Award nomination, huge album sales and a second record, which contains an Italian cover of Mariah Carey's hit Hero and a collaboration with pop diva Celine Dion. "We were recording some TV shows with (Dion) and she was absolutely fantastic. A very generous, very talented woman, very open to people," said Izambard, the self-taught member of the group who - as a former pop singer - helps write their original tracks, sung in English, Italian, French and Spanish. The bandmates also fondly recall their experience performing for Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Variety Performance earlier this month, even though it went against some of their convictions. "I've lived in Amsterdam for quite a long time and I'm not so sensible to hierarchy," said Buhler. "But if you stand there on that stage and you sing in a beautiful crowded concert hall and Queen Elizabeth sits over there, it does make a big impression on you." With an upcoming world tour and Christmas album set for release, Izambard says the band members spend about "15 hours a day" together. But the handsome quartet also managed to squeeze in some time with the opposite sex. "It is about 80 per cent women," said Buhler of the crowds at their shows. "When I have, like, family dads or husbands come up to me and say, 'really, it's brilliant what you do guys,' I adore it, it's fabulous,' I must say that's a big, big compliment because then you know definitely it's not for the look, it's for the music."
