BJS Posted October 23, 2005 at 10:35 PM Posted October 23, 2005 at 10:35 PM If you were to be stranded on a deserted island with only ten Streisand albums for the rest of your life, which ones would you die for? I know some of you would rather die without any but, that’s another story Here are mine, in random order. My Name is Barbra, Two… …Too? (That voice! Her name is Barrrrbraaaa!) Owl and Pussycat Movie Soundtrack (This one went out of print long before I was born, but someone was kind enough to share the tracks with me. I remember attending a dinner party not long ago. Being a loner that I was, I escaped the party scene and sat in a corner, MP3 player in my hand, and laughed hours away at those R-rated dialogues. Talking about bittersweet hideaways...) The Way We Were (Summer YOU, winter YOU? My buddy how 'bout ME?!) ButterFly (She used to be funky for a while before she attempted that hypnotically classical character.) Timeless, Live In Concert (Tiiiime... we’ve learnt to sail aboooove...) People (She may not always sing what you would have her sing. But now and then she'll sing something woooonderful!) The Essential Barbra Streisand (I know this is kind of pseudo-, neo-cheating. Sorry, can't help it!) Just For the Record (Ya know...) Simply Streisand (Simply goosebumps) The Second Barbra Streisand Album (Been hanging around like a straw in the wind since she went away. Pretty much any place I hang my hat is home nowadays. How I miss those good old days when young love came right as the rain! Lover, come back to me! Oh well, I don't care much anyway. Down with this thing called love! But who will buy my colouring book when the sun comes out? Uh, did someone mention that I stayed too long at the fair? Oy gotta move!) I know I cheated quite a bit by including those multi-disc albums But the thing is, being in this digital age as we are, even if we were to be stranded on a remote island, who wouldn't have brought an MP3 player carrying a built-in Streisand library? You might as well get away with that And by the way, these podcasts by Matt Howe (webmaster of barbra-archives.com) are pretty fun to listen to. Download them all at Barbra Podcasting Archives Quote My dearest love who existed in a dream Till this evening when a wave came and swept me out to sea None of the loves that you have known Could prepare you for the love raging everywhere in me For all the arms that have covered you the hands that have touched you and the lips you have lingered on before Added together would be less than an olive In the banquet of love I have in store Love season to entice Love with all the trimmings filled with spice Love flavored to your whim Served piping hot with all the trimmings... For I'll decode every breath and every sigh, till your every lover's wish is fulfilled before it's made Toss in some jealousy and doubt, should it be required Not to rest till there's nothing more desired Thus loving as I do Never, never will you ever be untrue Having love with all the trimmings Waiting home for you...
