The people who slaughter animals, poach them, wear them, and eat them are not bad people. They simply don't know any better. They don't associate these actions with pain, abuse, torture, cruelty, and torment. They don't know how their jackets are made, how their dinners are butchered, or how the animals suffer. They don't think about the chickens that have their beaks chopped off, the animals that are skinned alive (in many cases), the cows that are electrocuted and cry in pain...they don't think of these things when they see a leather jacket or eat a burger. They don't think of what it is like for a fish to suffocate to death. They simply don't understand, and many hold themselves so far above the animal kingdom that they think it is a human right to kill animals because they believe they are 'lesser' beings. They don't hold animals in the reverence of life, don't believe they have souls, and don't see how they are really the same as the cats and dogs we cherish as pets. They never stop to feel what the animals feel, to look into their eyes, or to see them as true beings.

 

The way to stop this is not through further violence, but by making people understand how the animals suffer, how they are special, emotional, intelligent beings that deserve our respect. We have to try and show that animals are not simply things we can kill, hunt, eat, and wear for our own gluttony and entertainment. We have to repair the disconnect people have with animals. Only when people can identify with life and all things that exist on this earth can we stop the slaughter and abuse animals suffer.

This was terrible to watch. Horrible.

 

I do see some fur creations are really good looking, but why do they have to be real fur??? Yes I guess it's because real fur is more expensive and that's why it's more glamourus to wear and all. But how many people can stand up straight and point to their jacket and yell proudly: "It's real!" ? What's the fine part about that?

 

It's an odd thing to wear since everyone know how it got there, and that's not a pretty story. Why can't they make exclusive fur that are not from real animals?! Why not make a furr out or silk? That ought to be hard enought to make it really expensive and soft and nice enough to wear...

 

I automatically say to myself when I saw those furr pics of Céline in Pars :"it's fake fur" and I am quite convinced they were, she's not the kind of person who wears real furr....

I agree we are the dominant species on this planet, but I think the point from this thread is that we don't need to reign with so much brutality, especially when we are brutal to animals that have no way of defending themselves, and all in the name of fashion! We're not talking survival here, we're talking clothing and accessories for goodness sake! No Animal should be put through hell by human hands, least of all for this reason!

 

That is why that footage is so desperately upsetting.
