Is Céline doing anymore VH1 Divas???

Céline has been performing at the VH1 Divas live in 1998 (? right?) which was incredible and in 2002 which was even more incredible, she totally owned the show, and there was You Shook Me All Night Long with Anastacia and Can't Help Falling In Love. Then she lipped in 2003 right? Sad, thought this was about live performances from the greatest artists, on top of it it was the "Divas Duets" and everyone knows Céline's duets are the bests but she sang solo. What was the Divas theme the following years? And how come Céline not being there? And who were???

Fred, I dunno where you have been but the Divas Live concerts have been scrapped already. It's called now like "VH1 Save The Music Foundation Concert" and male performers may be invited now officially as well. Equal rights at last!

Now if you ask me, there is little chance Céline will be performing on those concerts in future. They don't have the same importance they once had and Céline has now more important things to do like her family on the first and highest place and then her Vegas show. Expect a very limited promotion for her 2006's English release.

VH1 is trying too hard to be 'cool'. They hardly show any music related shows/concerts anymore. Most of their programing is reality TV with old celebrities. Everyonce in a while they'll show one, but it's mostly MTVish with trashy stuff.

Oh how I miss the good ol' days.

I agree with you. Also I remember back in the mid 90's when VH1 would do a ton of shows that featured celine or were just about celine. Now you hardly ever see or hear about celine on VH1.

I agree as well. It's pure trash. I enjoy watching CMT though, much less trash. Well if your not into country, I guess your out on that one, lol. The only show I like watching on MTV is "Next" because it's so fixed, it's hilarious. I know it's complete trash, but I watch it only when there is nothing on.

It's not that I miss Celine not being on there. I just miss the old VH1 in general. They have "light" pop radio stations as an option, why not something on tv. Actually, I'll answer my own question here, and say, because it's not "cool" :ermm:

VH1 is gearing towards the same direction as many radio stations, trying to be "cool". They had some really good shows back then, how I miss them too. :ermm:

I still have VH1 but it's not very good now. As with a lot of you I too miss the old VH1. I liked how it used to be. Back in the earily and mid 90's VH1 seemed to be about music and now it's not really. Sure they have some stuff music related but it's now turning more trashy with bad shows and less about music more about crappy reality shows that have nothing ot do with music. Now VH1 shows things like my fair brady instead of behind the music. The same goes with mtv although I wasn't a big fan of mtv back in the 90's. Still mtv used to show music videos and mtv unpluged. Now they show cribs and kept. My point is that I think that both mtv and vh1 should get back into music programing instead of all these crappy reality shows that have nothing to do with music.

Someone mentioned that Celine lipped in 2003. If you listen carefully, her version of HYEBIL wasn't even that great, and it was different than from the CD, so you know it was live.

AH I know... I would see the TV guide and for her birthday they would show like 6 hours of shows with CELINE!! Concerts, interview, behind the music, back to back videos. :cry: :wub:

Shows like "Behind The Music" even when Celine wasn't on there. Because I now changed my views on certain artists and respect them for their career not their music after watching some shows. :wub:

I gave up on the radio stations here, there's one left but it's going bad. I listen to Mexican radio... but about 2 years ago something called "Reagaeton" I think I spelled that wrong (Latin Hip Hop) has become so popular. :ranting:

Has anyone noticed the Discovery Channel turning into Crap Channel? It used to be a lot about supernatural things, histrical sites, things about area 51 and a lot of interesting and educating material... now: who can build the biggest chopper, who can build the strongest animal out of old car parts, biggest machines, battle on the junk yard, extreme fishing, extremely booring... it has sunken to a very low level of entertainment. It used to be the only decent channel around now it's like every other b-channel. And Viasat Nature is a lot higher class now, which in the beginning was far below Discovery Channel....

A shame...

Let's face it.. the two most sucessful Divas where the ones from 1998 and 2002 where Celine stole the show both of the times!!!!

VH1 now sucks. I won't watch it since last year when they used to play You and I.

I miss their old shows... not only about Celine but about anyone else. It was good to see, to learn more about some artists.

And I miss that WONDERFUL day when it was Celine day on VH1 Europe. January 2, 2003 UNFORGETTABLE!!!! Celine from 8:00 am to 9 pm!!!!!

hello everyone... i wish to say my point on VH1 Divas Live... well you see, those previous years when Celine is still on VH! Divas Live concerts, it was fantastic, very very, you know and incredible, good...

I think, the reason why celine is not in the VH1 Divas Live "yet" is because she haven't released a "commercial" album, you know... albums that the market really in to... she was in VH1 Divas Live 1998, because she was very very very famous at those years, when everybody love and like celine...

In 2002, she released A New Day Has Come, so it was some sort of a commercial album to those people who, "excuse me" don't have the taste of real ART Music... So, she was in Divas Las Vegas... In 2003, She was a guest in Divas Duet... because she had another album, and that is One Heart and she had also a single at that time and it was Have You Ever Been In Love... I think the other reason why she wasn't on the divas list for that night is because she has a show, and I think she also didn't want to be on Divas Duet the night because I think the most important night for her is her perfromance in A New Day... That's also the reason why she sang solo is because she's only a guest performer, for me it was at least nice that they showed celine on the concert...

In 2004, she wasn't on list because she hadn't released :rolleyes: a commercial album... You see Miracle is not just an album... it was a project... so you can't expect her to sing lullabyes for night...

Here, is my comparison with other divas.... in 2004, cyndi lauper was in the show is because she had an album and that was AT LAST... and they also catter some old performers which I they think the people will love... and I think the crowd miss those performers so much...

This year... I've heard that Mariah Carey was in the show... Mariah, for years wan't in the show, that's because she hadn't released an album, just this year... so she was in the show...

I think, if celine will again released a new album... maybe next year, similar to A New Day Has Come or One Heart... I think she will be in the show... That's what I have discovered... VH1 will invite a diva to perform if she has a new material to market, a new music to perfom...

Now, talking about male performers in the show... I think it is not a bad idea... the reason why those ladies are called DIVAS because they are a music experts... in the past we saw the styles of those ladies singing alone and singing with other lady performers... So this time, VH1 is like testing those divas in there expertise in singing with male performers... it is also a test to know whether those DIVAS are really DIVAS, a test whether the DIVAS can carry their night eventhough there are male performers...

But the previous DIVAS are very cool compared to the new version of DIVAS Live...

Yes, I think that's also the reason why they have male performers in the show... The world is run out of DIVAS... you see, it is just a marketing strategy.... in order for the show to sell, they need performers, new performers actually...

so, if they going to make a concert, having the same DIVAS every year or every other year... I think the people will be bored... talking about people who are not really fans of Divas, those people are concert addicts, they want to watch concert... so if DIVAS Live will cater again and again same DIVAS, if I belong to those sectors of people, I'll surely be bored seeing the same diva last year... you know what I mean...

Let's just hope that Celine will released a new English song next year, and also hope that she will be in 2006 DIVAS LIVE...

Just looked back on some divas clips on youtube and thought if there was anymore recently. Sadly there hasn't! There should be though! Maybe: Celine, Christina, Barbra, Bette and Cher. That would some talent!

i think they still got those concerts but it's doesn't call Divas live anymore..... so yeah......

but again it would be great if they have another divas live... or maybe a new one call Divas & Divos Live

then there can be male singers... !!!

and we can have our Celine sing her new songs and maybe duet with Il Divo for IBIY!!

It's about time they really scrapped the Divas shows. They were slapping any female musician into the show and calling them divas. Most of them weren't, and it was really pathetic.

They shouldn't have all the diva's at once in the first time! :laugh: It's too bad there isn't a Diva's Live anymoooooore.... but it would be great if she is on that Save The Music concert... performing her new english stuff :wub:

Oh and Fred... yeah I noticed too! It's all about machinery lately! and all those mythbuster wannabee shows aren't like the orginal! :rolleyes: it seems that if you want to see something else, you have to tune in to discovery civilisation or something but I don't have that :glare:

Divas Live 1998 was the best! Celine was a real established DIVA at that point.

I have a idea. Let's kill reality TV by changing the channel or in my case.Turning on my XBOX 360 and play my friends online until something good is on the tube. If my theory is correct. these shows are based on ratings, right? I guess that if less people watch this crap the more likely that the shows will be canceled. I hope that's the right answer. The 1998 version was THE REAL Divas Live show, imho... 2002 is ok, too but Celine and Cher were the only real divas there (and Anastacia a bit too). And Stevie Nicks as the "old nostalgic" diva.
