Céline's Blues Posted October 5, 2005 at 10:42 PM Posted October 5, 2005 at 10:42 PM Is it me or is she singing about death in With This Tear? If so, then I must say I can't forgive myself this big mistake of not adoring this amazing song even more. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

celindi Posted October 6, 2005 at 12:04 PM Posted October 6, 2005 at 12:04 PM as far as i understand it is defenatly about death....but most of Celine's songs are hard to understand. it's hard to tell what it is exactly about. and that is great cause everyone understands acording to his mind. LD1977 Posted October 6, 2005 at 04:51 PM Posted October 6, 2005 at 04:51 PM Its just the interpretation you give to the song yourself, everyone will give it another meaning. And that indeed is the great thing about these songs! I never thought of it as a song about someone who died, I did not take the sentence about 'dying' litteraly. I felt like it was more like 'dying' inside because the one you love has left you. But like I said, you can give your own meaning to it, I love it! leenylover Posted October 6, 2005 at 05:58 PM Posted October 6, 2005 at 05:58 PM I never thought of it as a "break-up" song, I always thought of it as how alot of people feel cheated when someone they care about dies. Like "we were going to have so many good times and then you were taken away from me" kind of thing. But to me it didn't even have to be a partner, it could be anyone that you really care about, like a family member or friend. Even though it probably is suited best to a partner. With this tear I thee want I long 4 u 2 talk 2 me like u did That night in the restaurant U spoke of love so openly And again and again u promised me That u'd never leave But now u're gone With this voice I thee call Sometimes I catch myself Calling your name When u're not there at all Please tell me what I did wrong Why must I hear your voice inside my head All day and all night long It's not fair (Bridge) (Ad-lib) With these arms I held u When u told me u were dying I had less courage it's true And u wrote every day Writing 'bout the things That we could do When your pain went away But all that went away was u With this tear I thee want I long 4 u 2 talk 2 me like u did That night in the restaurant With this tear I thee want I thee want I thee want I thee want With this tear I thee want I long 4 u 2 talk 2 me like u did That night in the restaurant U spoke of love so openly And again and again u promised me That u'd never leave But now you're gone With this tear Love Lisaxxx Quote My List of Celine Dion stuff, PM me to trade!
Mozinha Posted October 6, 2005 at 06:24 PM Posted October 6, 2005 at 06:24 PM This is one of those songs that you can give your own interpretation. It can be about death... or break-up. Fits both. Now you choose. cdfan Posted April 29, 2006 at 01:58 PM Posted April 29, 2006 at 01:58 PM For me it was always the song about dying. It don't fit to the break-up's one. Aspecially with this lyrics:" When u told me u were dyingI had less courage it's tru.And u wrote every dayWriting 'bout the thingsThat we could doWhen your pain went awayBut all that went away was u" It indicates on death which ended up long (?) terminal disease (for egzample carcinoma)I don't think that man who want break up will write the letters about their future. I would love hear Celine once more in Prince's song. I love that song. When I heard it for the first time I was crying. It was so sad and so emotional for me. Quote
fred Posted April 29, 2006 at 02:02 PM Posted April 29, 2006 at 02:02 PM Well it is hard to tell, probobly it is. But it could also be about someone loving someone with a mental disease, who says he/she's getting better but is only getting worse. I wouldn't agree with that all Céline songs are hard to get, I think it's the other way around. They are very easy to understand, very simple, sometimes too simple. But every now and then a song turns up which is a bit harder to interpret, this is one. My main mystery with this song is: what is THEE??? /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

Thanks. But I kind of figured though, if it meant something else, coz I mean if you check the rest of the lyrics and the spelling you wouldn't think Prince is trying to be stylistically correct when it comes to language. /fred Edited April 29, 2006 at 02:35 PM by fred Quote Peace and love to all.
felixwhoals Posted April 29, 2006 at 03:54 PM Posted April 29, 2006 at 03:54 PM Wow I didn't know that this song is about death. I thought it's just a normal love song! Dreamer Posted April 29, 2006 at 05:06 PM Posted April 29, 2006 at 05:06 PM I love this song, always make me cry. For me it's not necessarily about death. i've always seen it as trouble relationship, with a person in depression, in a hard situation wanting the other one. The one who promised to be there, stand there even with all the pain, but now the person has gone, sometimes it's so hard to get through. And then with this tear she lies alone i love this song Quote A new day has comehttp://sp0.fotologs.net/photo/16/42/116/celinepoderosa/1197867090_f.jpg
