Céline singing about death

Is it me or is she singing about death in With This Tear? If so, then I must say I can't forgive myself this big mistake of not adoring this amazing song even more.

Its just the interpretation you give to the song yourself, everyone will give it another meaning. And that indeed is the great thing about these songs!

 

I never thought of it as a song about someone who died, I did not take the sentence about 'dying' litteraly. I felt like it was more like 'dying' inside because the one you love has left you. But like I said, you can give your own meaning to it, I love it!

I never thought of it as a "break-up" song, I always thought of it as how alot of people feel cheated when someone they care about dies. Like "we were going to have so many good times and then you were taken away from me" kind of thing. But to me it didn't even have to be a partner, it could be anyone that you really care about, like a family member or friend. Even though it probably is suited best to a partner.

For me it was always the song about dying. It don't fit to the break-up's one. Aspecially with this lyrics:

" When u told me u were dying

I had less courage it's tru.

And u wrote every day

But all that went away was u"

 

It indicates on death which ended up long (?) terminal disease (for egzample carcinoma)

I don't think that man who want break up will write the letters about their future.

 

I would love hear Celine once more in Prince's song. I love that song. When I heard it for the first time I was crying. It was so sad and so emotional for me.

Well it is hard to tell, probobly it is. But it could also be about someone loving someone with a mental disease, who says he/she's getting better but is only getting worse.

 

I wouldn't agree with that all Céline songs are hard to get, I think it's the other way around. They are very easy to understand, very simple, sometimes too simple. But every now and then a song turns up which is a bit harder to interpret, this is one.

But I kind of figured though, if it meant something else, coz I mean if you check the rest of the lyrics and the spelling you wouldn't think Prince is trying to be stylistically correct when it comes to language.

I love this song, always make me cry. For me it's not necessarily about death. i've always seen it as trouble relationship, with a person in depression, in a hard situation wanting the other one. The one who promised to be there, stand there even with all the pain, but now the person has gone, sometimes it's so hard to get through. And then with this tear she lies alone
