Cambroneroj Posted September 27, 2005 at 12:52 PM Posted September 27, 2005 at 12:52 PM I found this article on a Costa Rican newspaper last week,it was in spanish so ill do my best to translate it . The city of las vegas is preparing to make an offer to the mayor of New Orleans to hold the 2006 mardi gras celebration. "We are studying the posibility to propose Ray Nagin (new orleans mayor) with the idea of having The annual Mardi Gras in Las Vegas and make it into a fund raiser event", declares David Chesnoff to US magazine. Chesnoff is a very strong figure in social and entertaiment life of Las Vegas, he is also Britney Spears attorney. The same publication talks about having Britney's support as well of the supertstars Celine Dion ,Elton John both stars currently working in Las Vegas to be part of the carnival that will help the city of New Orleans. Mardy Grass takes place in the city of New Orleans from feb 14 to feb 28 each year, bringring about 135000 tourist to the city. I thought it was cool to share this with you guys , i think is mega cool I hope our Diva gets to be the queen of Mardi Gras this upcoming year, or you think they will give it to Elton John? j/k Quote

VanMerlin Posted September 27, 2005 at 02:54 PM Posted September 27, 2005 at 02:54 PM That's actually a great idea. It will keep the energy of New Orleans alive with the Mardi Gras celebration, and also help raise funds to bring New Orleans back again. I hope it happens. Quote

winforlife Posted September 28, 2005 at 04:16 AM Posted September 28, 2005 at 04:16 AM What's exactly "Mardi Gras "?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" in French. The celebration runs 47 days before Easter and the day before Lent. The celebration includes great food like King Cake, floats, wonderful music especially jazz and collecting beads-there are interesting ways to acquire them It's time to let loose so to say Despite Katrina's devastation to New Orleans, people plan on putting on costumes, eat, drink and be merry even if only 15 people show up.. I read that online http://www.holidays.net/mardigras/story.htm- it's a short description. Mardi Gras is an interesting history so look on Google for an in-depth description Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/LKlafter1/1367035680_small.jpg
