Celine Dion to Donate $1,000,000 to Hurricane Katrina Relief

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 2005--Celine Dion has pledged $1,000,000 to the American Red Cross to help the relief and recovery efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Ms. Dion and her partners, Concerts West/AEG Live and DRAGONE, will donate proceeds from their Las Vegas show "A New Day..." to help the people in need as a result of the tragedy.

ABOUT "A NEW DAY..."

 

"A New Day..." is produced by AEG Live and is performed at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. The show's engagement continues until the end of 2007.

Just the other day I made the comment that sometimes Celine seems like a super hero to me. She is this beautiful, talented, inspiring woman who goes around helping people and spreading the love. This donation just confirms it, Celine is a superhero...dun dun daaa, Celine to the rescue!! (we need a superhero smiley, but I guess this will do)

MONTREAL -- Pop mega-star Celine Dion will donate $1 million US to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged several southern U.S. states this week.

 

The money, offered by Dion and her partners Concerts West/AEG and Dragone, come from the receipts of her Las Vegas show, A New Day, her publicist said in a statement Thursday.

 

The money will be given to the American Red Cross.

 

Dion's publicists would not provide further details.

 

Dion joins a lineup of entertainers providing aid to the hurricane victims. Benefit concerts to be shown on U.S. TV networks are also planned by some singers.

We are all victims of the nature. Parts in the Southern of Germany were also overflooded. But what happened through hurrican 'katrina' is more than horrible. I pray for the victims!!!
