LD1977 Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 As we all know, Céline has covered many songs, like I drove all night, I wish, At Last, If I could, The power of love, All by myself, River deep, mountain high and many, many more. But I think it's funny that other artists cover Céline too! Here in Holland there's an artist called Gordon who covered 'Pour que tu m'aimes encore' a few years ago (they translated it into a Dutch song) but there have to be many more covers. Which one do you prefer most and why? My personal favourite is Josh Groban, who covered 'Just walk away' on his first album. The song is called 'Alejate'. I like it so much because he made a completely new song of it, he gives his own interpretation. The one cover I don't really like, is a cover from Céline's Christmas-album. If I am not mistaken, I think I heard Christina Aguileira sing 'These are special times' last year. I was wondering if Céline might have covered it too from another artist, but I do think it is Céline's song. Does anyone know this for sure? And which Céline-covers do you know and do you like most? Bellamy Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 when I read this topic title, I thought you mean which is best cover of Celine album covers at first. I add "song" in your topic title now. Christina Aguileira sung 'These are special times' after Celine. 'These are special times' is a Celine song. usually I don't like others sing Celine songs. but I do like 'Alejate' by Josh. 'I Surrender' by Anthony on AI is not bad too. I can't remember more cover I like right now. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. LD1977 Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 I have been thinking too, there must be more. Dutch fans, help me? I think there is another cover of a French Céline-song: didn't Paul de Leeuw sing 'Ik wacht op jou' (-> I wait for you in Dutch), a cover of 'J'attendais'? And a Dutch comedian called Tineke Schouten did some acts about Céline. I think she transformed 'Tell him' into 'Bel hem' (Call him in Dutch) and she also did an act with 'It's all coming back to me now'. Now that I think about it, I can't believe it. The media in Holland are not very positive about Céline most of the time, but many artists here covered her! Thanks Bellamy, for adding 'song' in the title! You were right! I think there is another cover of a French Céline-song: didn't Paul de Leeuw sing 'Ik wacht op jou' (-> I wait for you in Dutch), a cover of 'J'attendais'? It's true that Paul de Leeuw sang a cover of J'attendais. And Gordon ( ), another dutch singer, sang a cover from Pour que tu m'aimes encore. (Volgens mij heette t 'omdat ik zo van hou' of iets dergelijks) That was a big hit a few years ago. Quote
sander21 Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 O, sorry, I saw that LD1977 already told about Gordon Quote

Koolan Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 I Surrender by Anthony was pretty good, haven't listened to Josh version of Just Walk Away yet. Christina did a fine job with These Are Special Times. That's about all I could come up with now. Quote Please support the forum by ordering through our Amazon.com referral link below. celine_rules Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 (edited) does covering someone's song mean that someone sings someone else's famous song?(sorry about the repetitive wording! ) Edited August 22, 2005 by celine_rules Quote http://www.eseats.com/images/spotlight/vegas.jpg
piglot82 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 does covering someone's song mean that someone sings someone else's famous song?(sorry about the repetitive wording! )<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah that's the idea. I personally hate it when people cover Celine songs (even though she covers a lot herself). I just think that there is a handfull of singers out there who should never be covered...and Celine is one of them. Quote http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b119/Piglot82/heartsig1.jpg
