What happened to Celine's voice (Français/Anglais)

Hi everybody ! I'm new on this website, so let me introduce myself. My name is Karim, I'm 26 years old, and I've been living in Paris for 3 years. I'm one of Celine's bigger fans since 1993, when the album "The colour of my love" came out (I was then living in Germany).

 

I saw her live once, in Nimes (south of France) in 1997. What a huge show I attended. Delighting !!! It was the first time I could see her in front of me for real. I can remember her white lether suit, her haircut (the best she ever had), and most of all : her VOICE. To hear her "live" was such a terrific feeling. It felt like if her voice could move mountains (lol ) : so powerfull, and so fragile...

 

Of course, I kept taking news as much a possible since then, but I confess that my love for her (if I can say so, 'cause I'm not "in love" with her) has decreased. Let's say that my interst to her is not the same as before. By now, I find her not as good as she used to. Especially her voice is not the same at all. Don't you think so ?

 

I like to sing, myself, and I'm used to pay attention on voices, especially Celine's one. When she sings now, it sounds more like a duck than like the greatest female voice in the world. I saw her show in Las Vegas, and I have to say that her voice has changed, in a bad way.

It's surprising, 'cause she always cared a lot about her voice. So what happened ?

Je suis nouveau sur ce site web, donc je vais me présenter. Je m'appelle Karim, j'ai 26 ans, et cela fait trois ans que je vis à Paris. Je suis un grand fan de Céline depuis la sortie de "the colour of my love" en 1993. J'habitais alors en Allemagne.

 

J'ai vu Céline sur scène une fois, aux arènes de Nimes en 1997. Je me suis régalé. Quel spectacle !!! C'était la première fois que je l'avais en face de moi pour de vrai. Je me rappelle encore de sa tenue en cuir blanc, de sa coupe de cheveux (la meilleure qu'elle ait jamais eue, à mon goût). Mais surtout, je me souviens de sa voix ! Tellement puissante, tellement fragile (en apparence seulement), on aurait dit qu'elle pouvait déplacer des montagnes

 

Bien sûr, depuis tout ce temps, j'ai continué, en bon fan, à me tenir au courant de tout ce qu'elle fait, à ne pas rater la moindre émission, etc... mais j'avoue que mon intérêt pour elle n'est plus le même qu'avant. Je ne la trouve plus aussi bonne qu'auparavant. Plus particulièrement, je trouve que sa voix n'est plus la même.

 

En effet, j'aime chanter et je suis très attentif aux voix, surtout à celle de Céline.

Et je trouve que désormais, lorsqu'elle chante, cela sonne plus comme une voix de canard que comme la voix de la plus grande chanteuse au monde, non ? J'ai vu son concert de Las Vegas, et c'est incontestable, sa voix n'est plus du tout la même qu'avant. C'est surprenant, car elle s'est toujours astreinte à un hygiène vocale carrément stricte !!!

I have the same opinion with you Karim. Unfortunately i haven't seen Celine Dion live but (as you) i sing myself and i pay a lot of attention on voices... I noticed the changed sinse A new day day has come cd came out. The live cd from Las Vegas was very bad for me. Don't get me wrong i was one of her biggest fan, maybe not now but i still love her very very much...

 

I used to say that Celine's voice is just like instrument, and it was. If listen clear her lives you thing that is playback now...noway!

 

So dear Karim we have the same wondering, why that? We all know how she was protecting her voice.
