Why I began writing songs...

The reason I started writing songs is because I went on a website that was for songwriters, and I decided to start writing songs and I didn't think I was a great songwriter until people told me that I was a great songwriter.

Writing songs is like breathing. I've never really thought about what made me want to do it. I just write...songs, poems, novels, music...I sit down and there's a pencil and paper in my hand without a second thought. I think it would be great to be able so say, "I remember what made me start writing - my inspirational moment!"

 

I guess I'd make a boring interview! I'd have to just say something completely anonymous like, "eh, I have no epiphany tale, guess it's just there." Blah...

 

So, JesusMan, do you sing your songs, record them by modest means, or write them out? Do they have melodies? Gawd, I have over 100 songs that need melodies!!! But, how far have you developed your songs?

 

That reminds me...time to hit the keyboard. Production time approacheth.

 

To all the songwriters here, go for it!! Love it. Live it. Breathe it. Write life down on a page and sing...and before you know it, you'll have others singing along with you.

I mainly write the song and then hand it off to someone to sing, but this time I'm gonna get a program called Cakewalk and try that and see what happens. When I make my first song I will post it here for you to hear. That won't be for a long time.

wow VanMerlin! you have over 100 songs? that's so cool...i have only 39 by now but not all have a melody in my head..you know what i discovered? you said your opinion about some of my songs,but i didn't have the chance to say my opinion about one of your songs....why don't you post one? i'm curious...

Many lyrics, and only about 58 that have melodies...which I'm currently in the process of producing and recording. But, you'll never see nor hear them. All Hail the self-effacing, sans confidence, chicken sh*t!!! (That would be me.)

 

Trust me, I applaud anyone who can share their creative endeavours openly. The mere thought of criticism makes me shiver. Pathetic, eh?

It's not about being ashamed, but I admire that you want the response and have no fear. But then, what have you to worry about? You've gotten great response on here. Congrats!

I am having a great day. I am proud of myself for sticking to my songwriting and I have written 2 more songs in the past week. They're entitled "My Friend Tim" and "Thank You My Dear Sweet Friends" on behalf of raluca. Thank You raluca for inspiring me to write 2 new songs. How did you inspire me? You gave me the courage to stick to something that is hard, but I kept at it and wrote those new songs.

 

The first song "My Friend Tim" is about a blind person that I met at my summer camp a long time ago and this year he told me more about recording software that I can record my music on the computer and I thank him for that.

 

And the other song "Thank You My Dear Sweet Friends" is about mine and raluca's friends here at Celinechannel.com forums and how they have been there to read our songs. Again, raluca and I Thank You Our Dear Sweet Friends.
