Amazing! And Celine looks beautiful in that dress. 😍

Now THIS is finally the release of a decade-long stay at my "Someday I might find it"/"Hard-to-find-outfits-that-make-drove-all-night-go-crazy"-file. The pictures of Céline's red-carpet-look on that magical Oscar-Evening in 1998 were too blurred and small to verify the designer. Some time ago I've found a coat where I thought maybe it could be "IT" - but it waited till today, where dear Thomas shared with me a lot of HQ of different years, and there - by chance - I found the proof to be verified: Christian Dior! With additional researches today I could also find the collection AAAND the dress she was wearing underneath. For her legendary performance on stage she was wearing Céline (by then chief designer Michael Kors) - but for the Red Carpet it was Christian Dior with chief designer John Galliano. The ensemble is of his as well legendary "Boudoir"-collection of 1998, where Céline owns quite some pieces. Such a pity so less people visit this thread - or are interested in her fashion choices.

B.t.w.: The picture of Céline in that lace dress together with René was one of René's favorite, as mentioned in her book "My Story, My Dream".

PS: :thankspin: Thomas for the many pictures! Hopefully they will lead to more verifications and releases from decade-long searches.

Oh, thank you so much for your kind words! They really make me happy!
And, yes, this "underneath" dress also needed some time until I've figured it out. Mainly in the "pre-Internet-times" those things were hard/impossible to find out here in Austria. And even when I bought the German version of her book ("My dream") in around 2001 I didn't think about the connection between this one picture and the Oscars. It was only later, when Frida taught me to pay attention to the tiniest details while searching for fashion pieces, that I started to "study" pictures with "different eyes". That's when I noticed one day the same hairdo. So I figured out the picture must have been taken at the Oscars.
B.t.w. Céline was wearing the coat also during the gala - until she changed for her stage outfit. Here's a screencap:

Looks like they didn't use that cut-off Ferragamo belt of October 2 for her looks on October 16. :giggle:

Again :thankspin: to Thomas for a HQ picture.

I couldn't let go of the glimpse of shoes she was wearing on her last evening in Paris. :giggle: Based on the Saint Laurent tux it's 99,9 % sure they were Saint Laurent too. And after multiple studies :detective:  I think I found them. Of course: The final verification would only bring a picture where more of the shoe is seen. But looking at that tiny glimpse of skin it's clear the shoe's cut quite "deep" on the inner side. And looking at one of the "Guermantes" pictures from above, you can see it's cut this way. So, lets say: 99 % possibility.
But I'm pretty sure Céline is wearing a satin version - presumably custom made, just for her - as they are only offer them in patent leather and pony hair (with leopard pattern).

It's funny: Mostly I find Chanel pieces by chance while browsing through different Vintage platforms - which then start an "opposite search" to find the occasion Céline was wearing the piece. Like this cap which I found recently. But that search was easy, because I had the occasion still in my mind while she was attending that Chanel runway in 1998, dressed in Chanel from neck to toes. And it turned out, she was even dressed von HEAD to toes. My "working title" for that piece was "bad-hair-day-cap".

The only thing I don't know if the word "cap" is the correct English word. And I wasn't able to find the original Chanel name for it. Here in Austria we call something like that "Haube", in other English speaking countries they call it hood, beanie, bonnet, hat. So, no idea, what would be the correct word! :whee:

A sweet posting by Sophia Sukala, "specialist in cutting and making stage costumes with whom I've worked since 2006" like Annie Horth called her in that recent Vogue interview. Nice to see a new picture of Annie too.

Here you find that posting on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/p/De5DgtfstsB/

And in case you haven't noticed: Here you can find the interview with Annie Horth, thankfully posted by Stevo yesterday in English translation: https://www.celinedionforum.com/topic/57120-annie-horth-translated-interview-with-vogue-france/

Two jewel pieces which hadn't been detected by others from Oct. 16. Always funny, when Céline wears Celine. And the other piece: Phoebe Philo (what else :-D).

Thank you for your comment! Make me always happy if someone takes the time!
Well, Davey, you need to be a Céline-Fashion-Nerd :giggle:, constantly with open radar :Lighten:, having in mind as much of the pieces she was wearing since the late 80ies - but, of course, that's nearly impossible due to the huge amount. So mostly kind of unusual, outstanding or crazy pieces from the past stay in the memory and CAN make detections easier. But not always. Most of the searches are very lengthy and laborious, need YEARS to be found or lead from a guess NOT to a finding. But this cap was so crazy and unusual for her that it stayed in my mind - additional I've tried multiple times to try to find it, as I was pretty sure she was wearing Chanel all over for a Chanel event.

Haha well you are clearly succeeding very well in being a fashion nerd! :D But yeah it would make sense she would wear Chanel to a Chanel show! :D

Yeah. I saw that Givenchy post too (thanks for sharing anyway!). Funny they didn't mention that it was based on a design of their own runway for Spring 2027  :giggle: - and of course it was custom modified for Céline, but not custom made, which would mean the design was totally made for her.

But it was great that they also posted the pumps, which were apparently made just for her. At least I couldn't find a similar design at Givenchy. They're not just simple pumps - they feature intricate, lovely details! And that's for shoes that nobody in the audience would even notice (unless they were fashion nerds in the front row).

Something from the past: In November 1998 Céline checked the next year's location for the legendary concerts @ Stade de France - and she was wearing Celine. Thanks to one of Thomas HQ pictures I was able to zoom in and compare/verify the buttons, buttonholes and the knitting pattern with the cardigan I detected on a vintage platform.
Then tried to find the resp. collection, and as I saw the way the model on the runway was wearing that piece it was no wonder the cardigan hadn't been detected before. But now, yay, another release of my file "Someday I might find it / Hard-to-find-outfits-that-make-drove-all-night-go-crazy". :bananadance:

Among the HQ pictures I also discovered one I hadn't seen before and it revealed a sweet detail on the huge display at the stadium.

PS: Thanks again very much, dear Thomas for sharing that HQ with me.

A little luggage study: Traveling with that much suitcases needs a good system to not lose track of the content. And as Céline confessed in "3 boys and a new show" that she needs "a little bit of everything" and had "30.004 luggage" in 2011, mostly because of twins (https://youtu.be/jh8BTi38QsQ?si=7Mv9XCtru8RktEGv&t=1566) - but even with the twins grown up, the amount of luggage doesn't seem to have changed. But the design of tags changed over the years.
Quite impressive was the view of the hundreds of the different suitcases and chests while showing one of her warehouses in "I AM CELINE DION".

Not your typical fashion question, but what is this ring she's wearing? Google Lens tried telling me it was a cocktail ring. 🙄🤣

To @TheBobWig :

I don't know how serious your question was:

If not serious: :sofunny:

If serious: Well, that's not a cocktail ring, this is the bottom of a microphone - and additional the proof of the stupidity of that sh**AI which runs meanwhile all major search engines and present incorrect results as if they were correct. And most people don't cross-check, just believe it - and that's one of the dangers of AI.

Again it was one of Thomas HQ pics who helped me verify a guess I've had for quite some time. Jewels need HQ pictures, because only with those tiny details CAN help to find the jewelry house. The pictures I've had so far where too low in quality - and only left a vague guess. But now I can say verified: It's the beautiful Camelia-ring by Chanel Céline was wearing in 2007 @ the American Music Awards.

Please, don't! This Sh**-AI confused so many people (me included). If you just allow me to give you an advice: Just be careful regarding the results it presents and always crosscheck! Mostly with really important information you are searching.
