Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio

I just looked around in Amazon Music but couldn't figure out if the album or songs was in Atmos. I couldn't find any logo or anything telling.

I wonder, how do you see if it's in Atmos in either Apple, Tidal or Amazon?

if Dolby atmos is available for any song on an album for Apple Music it will say Dolby Atmos just above the track position as you’re playing a song. I think all of the Dolby Atmos albums were listed at the beginning of the topic.

Wow this was really interesting. I have liked the previous records in SACD and its multichannel mixes.

But didn't know more albums was released as either Dolby Atmos or spatial audio.

 

It get a little confusing which album has this or that type of audio.

It would be very appreciated if anyone could list the albums in Dolby Atmos or spatial audio?

Surround sound can really enhance the audio experience if done right. Also you might get some new audio mixed in which is a nice bonus.

for Celine's albums, Amazon Music has only 360 R.A.

Apple Music has only Dolby Atmos...

 

if you enter the album on the streaming app, it will have a symbol for the album that's available....

for Amazon Music is a little square written "360", and for Apple Music is like this:

 

 

if you're looking on a computer, or via web page, neither will show...

And of course in order to play in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music, be sure that the Dolby Atmos is enabled in settings.

For some reason the high note in the Dolby Atmos version of Si je n'ai rien de toi sounds really strange. Just that one note sounds like a completely different vocal. Not sure what happened there.

What are you working on now?

 

We are currently remastering the entire Celine Dion catalog in Atmos. It’s a big, big job, and those timeless hits need to sound like people heard them or even better! We must be very close to the original mix and master, but we are expanding and improving them with immersive masters.

Been listening to Celine’s back catalogue, started with the French albums and while I can hear some things like outros/fade outs or certain separations of instruments a bit better or clearer, I can’t say I notice a heck of a difference with the Dolby Atmos, but to be fair Apple Music has been offering most of their catalogue in Lossless for some time and that improved the sound somewhat anyway.

 

However, upon listening to the D’elles album, I thought the electronic intro to Et s'il n'en restait qu'une (je serais celle-là) was much more clearer than it’s ever been with definite decipherable words, although I still can’t quite make sense of it all but just found that interesting as I remember reading on here many years ago that David Gategno said it was gibberish and so after reading that I gave up constantly trying to work it out but I definitely hear clear words there 😂 And interesting that while this is an example of something that’s become clearer, disappointingly I feel La Diva has lost something in that I can no longer hear Celine singing the opera sample along with Maria Callas as before which is a shame.

Si je n'ai rien de toi is probably the best example of what not to do when they remaster songs. The song is completely ruined. That last note is just gorgeous on the original version, and whatever they did in the Atmos/360 mix is atrocious. I hate the Atmos/360 version of Sans attendre because of this.

No but I’m sure I once managed to make out some of the words very clearly. It sounded like normal talking. I don’t remember what I was listening on though.

I’m now beginning to hear some really obvious differences to some of the Dolby Atmos songs where they’ve actually removed some of her fade out ad-libbing at the end of some songs and replaced with instrumentals instead or changed bits and pieces throughout some songs.

 

Can someone explain what the process involves to make the mix suitable for dolby atmos, surely it’s just remastering in dolby atmos technology, no? I wouldn’t have thought they would need to change actual parts of the songs but I don’t understand enough about it.

I have heard some vocals towards the end of a particular song here and there that I thought we just couldn’t pick up before which I like but not so pleased with how some vocals have been removed but it does offer listening from a different dimension which is cool, I guess

Lol I just think the music is very loud and it drowns out her vocals.

 

I would probably say Oh Holy Night like above and probably the whole TATST album is great in Dolby.

I agree BATB SA CD is better. May prefer some of A New Day Has Come album too. Dolby Atmos is way better for If You Asked Me To, It’s All Coming Back and Because You Loved Me

Since then, Tidal announced they were removing all 360 Reality Audio, so I wonder now if they added Dolby Atmos for Celine.

the one in the soundtrack album is different... it has some vocals from the SACD version, and the instruments are different too... almost like a demo version

for Celine they had only 360 RA... but now that the support to the format has been discontinued, Celine has no spatial audio at the moment...

I don't know if they will update her discography to Dolby Atmos...

 

well, now Amazon Music is the only streaming service that has 360 RA for Celine... so I hope they continue, 'cause I want Celine's full discography in that format, since it's better than Dolby Atmos to extract the channels with audio editing softwares...
