I Am: Celine Dion begins the year before Dion’s announcement and follows the star through 12 months in which she rarely left her palatial home in Nevada. Is this wrong? I thought they started filming in August, so 3 months before the announcement. Quote

Tomier88 Posted June 18, 2024 at 09:11 PM Posted June 18, 2024 at 09:11 PM It's been a long time since I've posted but I saw the screening and was wondering if anyone else who saw it had similar questions to me. First off, the film itself was incredible, emotional and so well made. So much love was put into this. It also really opened my eyes to how much she was going through physically and emotionally (and for so long too!). It also felt so relatable to me personally, some of the things she went through, as I also have a very rare condition called polycythemia vera and have very serious episodes (Crisis) as they call it. I started getting sick at 18 and waiting over 10 years to find out why I was so sick all the time was so very hard. The idea/scary feeling of not knowing let alone it taking away essentially one of the biggest parts of who she was (her voice), was incredibly moving. It really gives me so much more love and appreciation for who she is as a person and everything she has accomplished. It also showed all the pressure she puts on herself (and others incl fans/media etc.) to be "Celine Dion" esp when she can't always be that for everyone all the time.... all of this gave me a really deep and wonderful appreciation and respect for her as a fan, and as a human. Anyway, all that being said, In the beginning of the film they show/lead up to her being taking away or prepared to be taken away by an ambulance or emt right? in what looked like her home or something, but the scary emotional moment at the end was in a room off from the studio and she did not end up leaving or going to the hospital based on that scene, she came out of it. And so, in the end that initial 911 incident was never actually shown at all. Did anyone else spot this? This tells me that there was more than one scary incident potentially filmed than what they presented in the film, but it was also odd they that they "teased" one and showed another, never coming back to the original because it was even presented with a text shown "12 months earlier" right after showing/teasing the first scene, implying we'd see what happened that time later in the film. I feel like there might be much more to everything than we saw, but they decided just on one to demonstrate the seriousness of the "crisis" she deals with. I just am confused why they didn't just "Tease" the one they showed? Maybe they weren't able to show as much as she was being cared for by the EMT/DRs etc. Just feel that was an odd thing i noticed. 5 Quote

scielle Posted June 18, 2024 at 10:19 PM Posted June 18, 2024 at 10:19 PM Who sings that song she was singing at the end???You mean Habanera from Carmen? Lots of people, it’s a Bizet aria. Quote

Feidhlimbrennan Posted June 18, 2024 at 10:31 PM Posted June 18, 2024 at 10:31 PM Hey guys, did anyone catch what the final song was that Celine sang along to following her crisis? Something like ‘I am who I am’It gave me so much hope ater the pain of seeing wh’at she has to go through. It also reminded me of how much music, other than just her own, that Celine has introduced me to over the years. How many artists I wouldn’t know about just because of where I live in the world. One more gift to add to the long list Celine has given me over the years! Also just wondering if there were subtitles in the versions you hve seen, english to French or vice versa. I just left the screening in London and those people who don't speak French did miss out, just a little. Quote Instagram: @feidhlimb
Feidhlimbrennan Posted June 18, 2024 at 10:35 PM Posted June 18, 2024 at 10:35 PM Also just to note, the theatrical release means that the documentary has now qualified for awards ‘best documentary’ at the Oscars and so on. I did find it odd that Celine herself isn't listed as a producer. It means if it did win anything she herself wouldn’t. I guess the ont reward she needs is to be back on stage ❤️ Hey guys, did anyone catch what the final song was that Celine sang along to following her crisis? Who sings that song she was singing at the end???It’s Wyn Starks I loved it … it’s simple, it delivers the message it’s educating and at the same time it shows Celine like we have never seen her before … I love the Maria Callas moment and the Carmen intro 1 Quote

scielle Posted June 18, 2024 at 11:22 PM Posted June 18, 2024 at 11:22 PM This is a good article asking a lot of the same questions we’ve been asking. Worth a read. Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the TweetWarning, it does have spoilers. But it also has some good non-spoiler quotes (Google translated): “The director of the film, Irene Taylor, whom I met on Tuesday, shares the vision of this lonely and lonely Céline, who carries a heavy secret. “Before revealing her diagnosis, Céline was going through an extremely difficult period where she was no longer performing, where she didn't know what she had and where she was taking a cocktail of medications to be able to walk and talk. I wouldn't call his loneliness pathetic, it was more of an existential loneliness. She had lost her connection to the world through her fans,” says Irene Taylor, who entered Celine Dion’s bubble between fall 2021 and fall 2022. Where were Céline's friends during this dark period? Her brothers and sisters? Her relatives ? There are staff around her, of course. But who among her bodyguards was looking after her?” Also, seems Irene is doing press today. Looking forward to more from her. 1 Quote
klmalling Posted June 18, 2024 at 11:50 PM Posted June 18, 2024 at 11:50 PM I thought the documentary was wonderful. Very touching and really allowed Celine to speak in her own words. It was so good to hear from her. I also wish Sony would release unreleased material. It’s clear there is footage and recordings. Let us enjoy what they have from Celine! 3 Quote
