For the first time in nearly 30 years, Celine is no longer in the public eye, leaving fans at a loss. Whilst Celine is going through an awful time, the fans who have also supported her are feeling lost. This topic is for those who need to share their feelings and thoughts, through this difficult time. 9 Quote
Popular Post Davey84 Posted August 2, 2023 at 07:02 AM Popular Post Posted August 2, 2023 at 07:02 AM I still can't believe how much everything has changed from announcing Courage and the world tour... covid, Vegas announcement and cancellation, rumours, update video's which got more depressing each time we saw them. I really miss seeing Céline on stage, in the media, the prospects of new music. I just hope she's doing better. It's so hard not having updates. 9 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Crazy for Celine Posted August 2, 2023 at 07:14 AM Posted August 2, 2023 at 07:14 AM I miss seeing her having fun on stage. Seeing her singing, dancing and sharing some funny jokes with the audience. Those were good times I just hope that her syndrome is getting treated well and doesn’t get any worse. 5 Quote

PuraVida Posted August 2, 2023 at 03:31 PM Posted August 2, 2023 at 03:31 PM Her absence is in the back of my mind in some way, shape, or form at all times...sometimes I get so upset for how heartbroken she must be feeling. There are interviews where she said she needs to be on stage, she needs it to live, it's like food for her, it's her home etc. And now...who knows if she can even listen to music, let alone sing. *sobs* 5 Quote
ivo Posted August 2, 2023 at 04:41 PM Posted August 2, 2023 at 04:41 PM It is so strange to not have Celine ‘around’. Very sad, miss her and her voice so much. She has been a major factor in my life for 28 years and for now it is over. I hope we will see her once again. It all ended so unfair for her, the tour stopped because of COVID and everything after that is even more sad for her. 3 Quote Amsterdam 18-06-1997 - Amsterdam 14-06-1999 - London 10-07-1999 - Antwerpen 14-05-2008 - Antwerpen 21-11-2013 - Las Vegas 10-10-2015 - Paris 09-07-2016 - Arnhem 23-06-2017
Dancing_Queen Posted August 2, 2023 at 05:17 PM Posted August 2, 2023 at 05:17 PM Her fifties have been so cruel to her. Her having to cancel her 50th birthday show feels like a bad omen now...She has always been so positive, trying to see the silver lining in every situation, even looking forward to her fifties. It's just so unfair 2 Quote
smw Posted August 2, 2023 at 06:25 PM Posted August 2, 2023 at 06:25 PM (edited) My partner pointed out to me the bright side of this sad situation… Celine has every resource imaginable available to her because of her wealth and status. There is some comfort in that, along with knowing she has her sons by her side. None of us know what our future holds. Bad things happen to good people. Celine didn’t deserve this, but I’m certain she is getting amazing daily care. Let’s hope her celebrity status will lead to more research and breakthroughs regarding this disease. I know we all miss her — and I’m remaining hopeful there’s more to come in her career. Edited August 2, 2023 at 06:25 PM by smw 3 Quote
Leite Posted August 2, 2023 at 06:34 PM Posted August 2, 2023 at 06:34 PM I can imagine that this is a really bad time for Celine. I am also sure that she is able to have the best care and support available. She is both rich and famous .On the other hand I feel really sorry for her that she isn't able to do what she knows and loves(sing and perform) and worse than that ,Rene isn't around to help, support and love her. It is really unfair. 3 Quote

It is really unfair. Yeah, you nailed all of the big stuff she’s been facing. It’s a lot. And on top of that, she self-isolated quite a bit after Rene died. So I just hope her inner circle is growing again with more people she can trust and rely on for emotional support. Edited August 2, 2023 at 07:40 PM by smw Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted August 2, 2023 at 10:02 PM Posted August 2, 2023 at 10:02 PM I agree with you all. This has been very tough. Even in the leaner years of content we at least saw her. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
Popular Post Zofia Posted August 2, 2023 at 10:22 PM Popular Post Posted August 2, 2023 at 10:22 PM Of course, we're tempted to console ourselves by saying "she's rich", "she has access to the best possible care", and that's true, but... First of all: if you're that rich, you're really unlucky to catch a rare disease. Because even with all your money, you can't multiply the few treatments that exist or make them more effective. Whereas if you fall ill with an equally serious but more common disorder, doctors will be lining up for you to test their "experimental methods". Sure, as a celebrity, you can probably stimulate research into your illness, but... That means you're sowing the seeds, and someone else years from now will reap the rewards. Because research requires 1. money, 2. cases of disease (1 in 1 million, good luck) and 3. time. You only have the first factor. And you've only got one life to live. Secondly: she has access to care that other sufferers don't, objectively speaking. Yet unhappiness is always a fiercely subjective thing. Experienced from within, not perceived from the outside. When you're suffering from a toothache, you're not relieved to think that there are people starving to death; a mother who loses her child doesn't suffer "less" than one who has lost two, and so on. If one suffers very badly - rich or poor - one always suffers too badly, alone and without reference (this is not a theory but an experience of voluntary work in palliative care that made me understand this). Thirdly: yes, this is the tragedy of her life. She's been through illness and death of loved ones, bereavement, more or less serious health problems, immense amounts of professional stress. But each time she was able to express and sublimate her emotions in song: from early childhood, always. And now, for the first time in her life, she's going through a terrible ordeal without being able to express what she's feeling. Imagine what this means for an artist... She's not just losing her "passion" and "what she loves most" - she's losing a large part of her identity. I won't say anything more about the disease itself. Thanks to patient support groups, I'm always learning about symptoms, treatment side-effects etc., and sometimes it's hair-raising. Even if she only endures 30% of what SPS can do to someone, it's already a horror. And her silence says a lot. I certainly miss her terribly, even though I'm not an avid consumer of pop music. For the first time in my life, I feel so concerned by the fate of someone I don't know personally - and I see it as another effect of her genius. We treat her as someone close to us, not just another celebrity: it's her art too... 8 Quote
Squall Posted August 3, 2023 at 01:17 AM Posted August 3, 2023 at 01:17 AM I've been listening to her music pretty much on a daily basis for the past 32 years. I credit Celine for getting me through the darkest point in my life. I probably wouldn't be here without her music. I think of her as family. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her and how she's doing. I also hope her sons are doing well. I know this must be really difficult for them as well. Quote
KyleVan41 Posted August 3, 2023 at 03:12 PM Posted August 3, 2023 at 03:12 PM The biggest fear is not what to expect. She says she’s not giving up and “fighting”. But we don’t know what that means. Those closest to her like barnev says he hears she doing better. If she’s doing Vegas or planning on it in some capacity I think they know. But I don’t know. I think before Celine commits to anything she likely wants a trial run of how her treatment regime and effects are. I.e. can and could she maintain a modified performing schedule , what’s her stamina , could she do half a dozen shows a month ? 2 ? 4 ? All of that need needs test runs and time to see if it works ….which could be why saying something too early would not be wise. Team Celine saying “we have every hope someday soon Celine will be back” does offer me hope that something is working and time is just the factor now . 2 Quote
anewdayhascome Posted August 4, 2023 at 09:35 AM Posted August 4, 2023 at 09:35 AM I miss everything, not necessarily the concerts but just having her in our lives. We faced the breaks, 1st pregnancy, 2nd pregnancy, Rene's illness, they were also without the definite end date but we knew there would be a comeback, that those breaks were good for her (even Rene's illness, after all she could spend as much time as she wanted with him, so despite the suffering it was the time just for themselves)... Even with Covid, we saw the world opening up, other artists going back on tour and there was hope... but now it's just heartbreaking. Through her music she has accompanied me for most of my life, during good times and even more during bad times but now the bad time concerns her and I can't even turn to her music because I get even more depressed knowing that she can't do what she loves, I don't even care about a particular tour or concert but a singer that can't sing? that's a nightmare for her but also for us. All the songs that gave me joy became sad too and I just don't listen to Celine anymore because it's too hard. I really hope she will be back in any way but honestly she has been like family or even closer than some family members and with her gone it's very very very sad. So empty. 7 Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019

I love her and her music so much but listening to her makes me so sad. The new songs from love again make me feel better about her situation as it somehow feels progressive. However after these songs, I now feel there is a big void and we don’t know when she will come into the public life again. Celine was always my crutch since I was very young (7-8 years old). When I felt bad I always had Celine to turn to and now when things are hard I go to Celine and feel worse. I’m not trying to make it about me, we all have struggles and things going on in our lives. When Celine has always been the solution it’s so hard now with what’s going on for her. I always anticipated that Celine would not be there at sometime in my life, and realised it would be hard when she was gone. I did not ever think it would turn out this way and that Celine would be here but under such horrendous conditions. How do we even deal with this? I know most people would think I am crazy but I’m sure you all know exactly how I’m feeling…. I’m sure you all have similar feelings right now. scielle Posted August 8, 2023 at 04:05 AM Posted August 8, 2023 at 04:05 AM I just saw Broadway Sings Celine Dion (see my post in the Broadway thread) and it was just so amazing but made me miss her so much.I loved what they did with the material, and how it breathed new life into all these songs we've heard for decades It really made me see some of them in a whole new light, and damn, how I wish Celine could hear this, and get inspiration from it (and maybe one day do her own new take on these oldies... one can only dream). 2 Quote
PuraVida Posted August 9, 2023 at 06:18 AM Posted August 9, 2023 at 06:18 AM I don't really get sad watching or listening to her anymore, but it does make me extra sad when I see how passionate she was for performing and showbusiness, and how gracious she was with her fans and employees. In my mind she might be finding a new outlet for her artistic expression. She seemed to into designing that bejeweled elephant for charity, and who knows maybe she is getting into fashion design // drawing during this time. Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted August 9, 2023 at 10:51 AM Posted August 9, 2023 at 10:51 AM I’m at peace with this now. I hope although she’s going through a tough time, that she’s getting the best care and making progress with this condition but also that she’s enjoying family time and not having to worry about time in the studio, tv shows, doing a residency or jumping off and on planes and touring. This is now the longest time that Céline has been away from the spotlight and for me as a huge fan, I have been able to relax and enjoy my own life without the anxiety of worrying about trying to get her concert tickets, or not missing her on tv, or the expense of travelling to vegas to see her. I can do what I want without those worries and it’s nice! When she’s back I will be both excited and anxious to get the best seats to see her again or to travel to vegas to see her residency but for now I am happy with this break. I miss her, but I think this break is positive for fans too. Quote

smw Posted August 9, 2023 at 06:41 PM Posted August 9, 2023 at 06:41 PM (edited) It makes perfect sense that most of us on this forum have found this to be a pretty difficult time. We all, I imagine, have turned to Celine as a source of comfort and stability in our lives. And it feels like we know her. I am still able to listen to her music and it brings me joy that, no matter what happens from here, she achieved so many wonderful things and got to do what she loves. Considering the song Love Agan was potentially recorded at the end of last year, I am remaining hopeful that there's more music to come in her life. And if she's never able to sing again, which I hope is not the case, I hope she finds treatments that work and is able to continue her career in some way... just like Julie Andrews was able to after what happened to her voice. If they get cancer or at least Parkinson's, I'll finally be free of this unbearable stress of waiting for their new works, of ruining my life, of fearing disappointment... And if they die, I'll be at peace with it, and it'll be nice, and I'll finally be able to do what I want." PuraVida Posted August 11, 2023 at 09:45 PM Posted August 11, 2023 at 09:45 PM (edited) I never had 'anxiety' about anything related to Celine. And now what I feel is a sadness and feeling so bad for her that she is deprived of what she loves. The picture I have in my head, unfortunately, is that she must be quite depressed about being disconnected from her passion. But I also think she is in turn very focused on the task at hand, and putting all her focus and energy into getting better. Edited August 11, 2023 at 09:47 PM by PuraVida 1 Quote

I'm convinced that Céline would have been an ideal rehab patient: motivated, hard-working and beating her own records every day. Unfortunately, this disease is not like a broken leg or another accident from which "you recover"; from what other patients say, you have to learn to negotiate with her rather than force her. They are even unanimous in recognizing that over-exertion worsens their condition. I wonder how Céline manages it; it's so contrary to her nature... 2 Quote

I’m hoping Celine is on that path. But the silence worries me. It’ll be a year in early December since she shared the diagnosis. A year ! I’m hope we get an update by then. I guess that’s the biggest part in all this. Like Resorts World ; I’m hopeful we’ll see her on stage in some capacity, but the fact is we just don’t know . 3 Quote
